Hidden cameras for my house

My cats were always sweet and loving, so I was confused when one morning they ran away when I got out of bed. They would usually always stay in my room but that night they didn't, but I just brushed it off as the cats just being, well cats. Moody and mean, so I went to sleep. I woke up that morning and went to feed them, but I couldn't find them. I looked all over the house until I finally found them both hidden in a corner of the laundry room, I was so confused. I tried to grab one of them but they bit me and hissed, so I just let it be. Maybe, just maybe, she was pregnant? But I started getting concerned after the third night, I woke up to a loud bang and the stairs to the attic were down. I just assumed something fell, hitting the latch and opening the stairs. But I decided to put a camera, just incase. I went back to bed and checked the feed that morning, nothing unordinary, until around the 4:30 mark. The stairs opened again but this time quietly, a strange creature came down and glared at the camera, I was shocked. This creature looked exactly like me but terrifying, it ran twords my cats. Laughing like a crazy man, that's why my cats were so scared! Cause they saw something that looked exactly like me chasing them. I called the police and they searched the whole house, they didn't find anything, I stayed at a friend's house for a few weeks until I moved, every night I heard the weird laugh coming from outside, but last night.. it came from under the bed..

One thing I’ve learned throughout my long life is that people aren’t as different from every other species on earth as they think they are. What some might call the traits that make us human aren’t all that exclusive to us. Rats are capable of empathy, gibbons form families that are much like our own and elephants mourn their dead just like we do. The emotional complexity of the other creatures on this earth is a fascinating subject… but there is a dark side to it.

Dolphins are capable of rape. Polar bears have been known to cannibalize each other and killing just for fun is a common behavior exhibited by many predators. Hell, if you looked through the animal kingdom I’m confident you’d find them committing just about every single abominable act under the sun. The only thing that really sets humanity apart is that we’re a little more self aware. We’re not above the depravity but we try to be. Maybe that counts for something. I really can’t say.

What fascinates me though, are the things that imitate humanity. Those beings who look like us, act like us and talk like us but aren’t strictly speaking human. I’m sure you’ve heard of Fae, for instance. They’re all over the spectrum. They’re intelligent (mostly) and although a few of the less human-like groups have no interest in pretending; some of them are damn near indistinguishable from anyone you’d pass on the street. You could drive yourself mad wondering about the nature of humanity. Where it begins or what is it that truly separates us from the animals. Intelligence, self awareness, empathy or something else entirely? I myself couldn’t even begin to come up with an answer and that’s a shame. You see, I hunt monsters for a living. You wouldn’t think it would be difficult to tell the difference between a person and an animal, but when most of the people you deal with aren’t technically human, that line can easily blur. It’s always those cases that stay with me. Putting down a mindless animal is one thing but going up against something that’s not all that different from you… Well… That’s a lot more complicated.

My name is Robert Marsh and I’m not exactly human myself. Not anymore. It shouldn’t be surprising that I’ve had quite a bit of experience with the supernatural… enough so that when it starts threatening regular people, I’m the one they call.

The International Fae Relations Bureaus Department of Public Safety didn’t normally poke their heads into isolated incidents. Strange bodies turning up every now and again were small potatoes. As grim as it sounds, shit happens. People run into all sorts of nasty creatures from time to time. There’s no way to stop it. However when a pattern comes up, that’s something they can’t ignore and when the latest incident involves a whole family of five turning up dead, that’s when I get a call.

The Swanson's had been a moderately well off family, living in a pretty house off of a country road. Well off the beaten path. It was an hours drive from my modest little apartment but at least I didn’t make it alone.

Della Rose, a woman with whom I’d had a complicated relationship with in the past sat beside me. When we’d first met and dated, she’d been just an ordinary girl and contrary to what pop culture might have some people believe, romance between ordinary girls and vampires doesn’t ever end well. It had been a few months since she’d come back into my life and circumstance had made it necessary to curse her with the same immortality that I tolerated. It had been a hasty decision, but better than leaving her to die. I didn’t turn her for the sake of company. I’m not quite that selfish… If there was a future for us, we weren’t quite ready for that discussion. For the time being, I was content to simply help her adjust to her new eternal life and to that end, she’d been helping me with my work. It had been years since I’d had a partner and so far, that arrangement had worked out nicely.

I could see the flashing lights of the police sirens cutting through the dark, marking the Swanson house as we drew near and pulled up the long driveway. I caught the eyes of a couple wary uniformed officers as we pulled up to the house but they didn’t try and stop me. Near the front door, I could see the shadow of a portly man in his forties. I recognized him even before I saw his face. Detective Rick Davis. An old friend of mine.

As Della and I got out of the car, Davis waited for us in the doorway. He took a final drag on his cigarette and watched us as we approached the door before he snuffed it and let us in.
“Nice to see you again Marsh.” He said. All business as usual. The inside of the Swanson house looked almost immaculately clean. You could have probably used it as a showhome. It was just the three of us in the house. As per standard protocol, the other officers had been removed from the scene prior to our arrival. It was better that they not see too much of us.

“Always a pleasure, Detective.” I replied. His gaze lingered on Della, a hint of mistrust in his eyes although he kept his mouth shut about that. “What are we looking at?” I asked. Best to keep things on track. Davis nodded towards the stairway.
“Bodies are upstairs in the main bedroom. Four victims. Two adults, two children.” He said.
“Four victims?” I asked, “I heard it was a family of five.”
“The youngest child, May is currently missing. We think that maybe they might have fled. We’ve got some officers searching for her now.”
“You think they ran?” I asked. Davis just shrugged and turned to lead us up the stairs.
“Possibly. I can’t imagine our perp was interested in kidnapping given the mess they left.”
He led us into the bedroom and stopped outside the door.
“See for yourself.”

I nodded at him before opening the door. I’d seen my fair share of corpses in the past, but seeing a child had never gotten easier. I’d known what I was walking into and grimaced at the sight of the still bodies on the floor. Beside me, Della let out a quiet gasp.
“Jesus…” She murmured as I stepped inside.
The man who used to be Mr. Swanson was on the bed, naked as the day he’d been born. His body was as pale as alabaster. His wife lay close to the door, crumpled on the floor and her two children were scattered about close to her.

The first thing I noticed was the blood, or the lack of it. Mr. Swanson had almost none around him although I could clearly see several bite marks on his body. Most of them were on his shoulders and some of them looked as if they’d been healing. Most of them. It didn’t take a genius to figure out that the ragged chunk torn out of his throat had been what had killed him. His wife and children on the other hand hadn’t been drained. They had been bitten, that much was clear but their bodies each had one single, fatal bite to the throat. From the look of it, they hadn’t fought much either. I imagined all three of them, lined up by the bed and quietly waiting their turn as the killer picked them off methodically…

“What did this? Della asked quietly, “Another vampire?” She stood over the bodies of the wife and children, careful to avoid stepping in the pool of blood that stained the carpet beneath them.
“Vampires aren’t the only hemovores out there.” I murmured as I leaned over the body of Mr. Swanson. I shifted his head to get a better look at the wound in his neck. The bite looked jagged, as if the flesh had been torn at. I studied the healing bites on his shoulders as well. Those looked to be a few days old. The bites been cleaner and hadn’t gotten much treatment.

“What else could have done this?” Della asked.
“My guess? A Siren.” I said before standing up. I gestured for her to join me by Mr. Swanson's corpse. “See the bite marks on his shoulders? Those are a few days old. They were healing. That’s usually where most sirens bite. Reduces the chance of killing the prey. If they go for the throat, well…”
Della looked at the ragged wound in Mr. Swanson's throat. She got the point.
“Bite pattern looks consistent too.” I noted, “Sirens have a mouth like a shark. Made to rip and tear… A siren would also explain the position of the bodies.”
“How?” Della asked. From the corner of my eye, I saw Davis leaning against the doorframe, listening intently.
“Well, what do we know about sirens from mythology?” I asked.

“They sing?” Della asked. She looked at me, then at Davis for confirmation.
“They hypnotize.” Davis said. “And they’re supposedly so beautiful that they’re irresistible to men. Like a honey trap, right?”
“More or less.” I said. “Reality isn’t all that far off. Most Sirens are female. They tend to target men looking for sex and then feed off them. They’re hemovores, just like us only they’ve also got a natural hypnosis to make the process easier. It doesn’t work on everyone, but it might explain why the wife and kids just stood there while our killer picked them off. They probably walked in on dinner.”
“Why not drain the wife and kids though?” Della asked.
“The stomach can only hold so much blood.” She’d already drained the husband. That’s enough to keep her fed for days.”
“So that’s it then.” Davis said, “I don’t suppose a siren might be behind the other bodies we’ve found?”

“It’s possible.” I said. “These days you don’t see as many siren deaths and you shouldn’t see any this close to Toronto… It doesn’t add up. They usually stay away from urban areas and most of their communities have rules against killing these days. It’s easier to stay hidden without bodies piling up. It still happens from time to time. Victims tend to get… addicted to them. They keep seeking the siren out. She accidentally takes too much, too fast and hides the body.”
“Well as of tonight, we’re at eleven victims in the past three weeks so obviously something isn’t right.” Davis said.
“Eleven?” I asked, raising an eyebrow. “Just like this?”
“That we know about. I can send you the reports. Same bite marks, same lack of blood. The whole shebang.” Davis replied.
“Why wasn’t the FRB contacted sooner?”

He shrugged.
“Most of them were nobodies. Bums downtown and all that jazz. A few were found in the water. We had no way to confirm anything strange was afoot… At least until now.”
“Christ…” I rubbed my temples. This wasn’t good. “That’s just in the GTA, right? What about outside? Northern Ontario, Quebec, maybe around the border?”
“I can check.” Davis said, “What exactly are you looking for?”
“I want to know where she’s hunting.” I replied, “Then maybe we can figure out where she’s coming from. There aren’t any active siren communities anywhere near the GTA so she’s got to be a stray.”
I watched as Davis scribbled some notes down in his pad.

“Get that information to me as soon as you can… In the meanwhile, I’m going to reach out to an old friend. See if she might know something.”
“A friend?” Davis asked.
“Somewhat. She might know a thing or two about any other sirens in the area. Maybe she’ll have an idea as to who we’re looking for.”
Davis gave a nod before closing his notepad.
“Alright then. I’ll let you know what I can dig up. I’ll leave you to finish up here.”
I nodded in return before taking out my camera to document the scene.

When Della and I left the Swanson house, we didn’t head back to our apartment. The night was young and it was the ideal time for a long drive. I could sense Dellas unease as she sat beside me. She didn’t need to say what was on her mind for me to know what was bothering her.
“It’s okay to be upset, you know.” I said. “It doesn’t get easier, no matter how long you live.”
“I don’t know if I should be comforted by that or not…” She murmured, “The smell was what bothered me the most. I could smell them starting to… Jesus…”
I offered her a comforting hand and she quietly took it.
“I get killing the wife to cover her tracks but the kids… What does that? I thought you told me Sirens weren’t that much different than us?”

“Most aren’t.” I replied. “Eleven victims though. Probably more… Think about it. You and I can feed without killing a person. Sirens can do the same. So why leave that big of a trail?”
Della grimaced. She didn’t answer, but she knew what I was getting at.
Our killer wasn’t killing for food. She was killing for fun.

Tevam Sound was almost a four hour drive away but it was more than worth it. Della and I spent some of the evening in an inexpensive motel in town before I went out looking for my contact. I knew she wasn’t going to be happy to see me, but the only other Siren I knew wasn’t exactly a local. I needed someone who was.

Shelby looked like an attractive girl in her mid twenties with short red curls and green eyes that seemed to shimmer like sunlight on the surface of a lake. She favored cutoff shorts and loose fitting tops that showed off her body and only barely hid the gills on her sides. At a glance, it would’ve been hard not to admire her and that was probably exactly what she wanted. Della and I just so happened to run into her at the local drug store. She’d been in one of the aisles when she spotted us and the moment she saw us, she knew it wasn’t an accident. I could see her brow furrow slightly and the ever so slight tense of her muscles. She watched me closely as I approached her, holding her ground as if she expected a fight.

“Well, well. Robert Marsh.” She said as I drew nearer. “Look, if you’re here about the cat food incident. It’s been thirty years. Just let it go.”
“Cat food incident?” Della asked. I ignored her.
“It’s nice to see you too, Shelby. You look nice. How’s domestic life treating you?”
Her lip curled upwards in an irritated snarl, exposing some of her jagged teeth.

“Peaceful and quiet.” She replied after a moment's hesitation. “I know this isn’t a social call. What do you want?”
“Why don’t we talk about that in private?” I asked. She scoffed.
“You ambush me at the drug store and then ask if we can talk in private? Seriously?”
“I knew you wouldn’t answer the door if I came to your house.”
“So you followed me?” She asked, then raised an eyebrow at Della. “Who’s the broad, and why didn’t she try to talk some sense into you?”
“This is Della. She’s a close friend.” I said.
“Is she now? And here I always thought you were gay... I’m in a hurry so talk fast.”
She picked a bottle of aspirin off the shelf and dropped it into the basket she had slung over one arm before continuing down the aisle. I followed her.

“I was hoping you might be able to help me find another Siren.”
“What? I’m not good enough for you?” She asked.
“A specific Siren. She’s left a hell of a trail of bodies.”
“Well it’s not me. I get my blood from tinder and I don’t leave bodies.”
Shelby rounded a corner and headed into another aisle where she stopped to look through the selection of tea.
“I figured it wasn’t. I’m looking for a stray. The kind that kills for fun.”
She paused. I saw a flicker in her eyes.

“I’ve got eleven bodies in the GTA over the past three weeks and I’m positive there’s more that haven’t been found yet.”
“Of course there’s more.” She said quietly before sighing, “Anybody get a good look at her?”
“There might be one witness but they’re MIA.” I said. “I don’t suppose there was anyone you can think of from the community at Silver Lake before… well…”
“Before everyone died. You don’t need to tiptoe around it. I got my closure. I’ve moved on.” Shelby said. “What kind of tea is best for headaches? I can’t tell the difference.”
“Ginger root or peppermint.” I said. She took one box of each.

“Any sister who was at Silver Lake is either dead or fled further north.” She said thoughtfully, “I doubt you’d have any luck asking around up there… I do remember that there was an incident about a year before everything went tits up though. A couple sisters had gotten bold and were luring prey into the community. I’m pretty sure Kayla was the one in charge. You remember her, right? The one with the stupid cowboy hat. Anyways, turns out some of the prey they lured was a little too young and she was always way too kill happy. They pushed the envelope a little too far, too many times and got kicked out for their trouble. Too little, too late if you ask me. It was probably their little stunt that led to the community getting discovered and wiped out.”
“Do you know where they went afterwards?” I asked. Shelby shrugged.

“I can’t say… I might’ve heard something about another sister in the area though…” She paused to think for a moment. “Yeah… Yeah, some of the students down at the University were having a party and I usually stop by since it’s easy pickings. I saw this one guy at the bar who was drunk off his ass and talking about a girl he’d fucked who’d bitten him. I guess it kinda sounded like Kayla. It definitely wasn’t me... I don’t exactly follow through with my prey. My sexual preference is dinner, so I tend to eat and run. But other than that I haven’t seen any signs of another sister in the area.”
“You didn’t happen to catch his name, did you?” Della asked hopefully.
“The bartender called him Derrick, I think? I haven’t seen him around since.”
Della went for her phone to message Davis.
“Is there anything else you might know?” I asked, “Anything at all?”

“Hate to say it but that’s all I’ve got.” Shelby said with a shrug. “Kayla’s gang are the only strays in the area I know about although most of them ditched her shortly after they got kicked out. One of them got killed for hunting in our territory and I heard another found a home south of the border. As for Kayla and her third friend, they dropped off the face of the earth… Could be you’re after two sisters. Either way, watch your ass. Especially if it is Kayla.”
“Noted.” I murmured.
“Davis says that Derrick Jackson’s body was found in Mississauga last week. Drained of blood, just like the others.” Della said, looking up at me and Shelby. “If Kayla was the one who attacked him…”
“She would’ve wanted to finish the job.” Shelby said. She pursed her lips before she sighed.
“Fuck me… Regardless of whether or not it is her, you two are going to have a hell of a time against a sister.”
“Are you offering to help?” I asked.

Offering.” She scoffed, “That’s funny. You’re not going to take out a sister without another sister on your side and as much and I don’t really feel all warm and fuzzy about sending you to get killed, even if you are a whiny prick.”
“We took down a ghoul a few weeks ago.” Della said, “It can’t be that much harder, can it?”
“My 1200 year old mother could pop a ghouls skull and she’s been dead for fifty years.” She replied. “Look, I’ve got to take care of something first. Make some arrangements and all that… But I can be ready to go in an hour. Maybe two.”
“We can wait around.'' I replied.”
“No shit, Count Fagula. One hour. I’ll meet you back at my place. It’ll be just like old times.” She clapped me on the shoulder before turning to leave us. As soon as she was gone, Della looked over at me.

“So…” She asked, “How exactly do you two know each other?”
“It’s complicated.” I replied, “I’ll tell you later. Right now, I think I need a drink.”

True to her word, we met up with Shelby about an hour later. She carried a small backpack with her and stood waiting by the front porch of a small but quaint suburban house. I thought I could see someone watching from the upstairs windows, but I didn’t get a good look at them.
“Everything taken care of?” I asked as Shelby got into my back seat.
“It’s fine. Let’s just get this over with.” She replied as I took off.
“I have to say, I never expected you of all people to end up going domestic. I would’ve figured you’d have gone up north with the others.”
“There’s no food up north.” Shelby replied, “Tevam Sound’s small but it’s got a steady, rotating supply of fresh blood.”
“And I’m sure that’s the only reason you stayed.” I teased. Through the rearview mirror, I could catch her glaring at me.
“I have a good friend in town. We have an arrangement. I reached out to a friend of mine. There’s a cottage a few hours from here owned by a ‘Kate Silver.’ I thought it might be a good place to look.”
“Kate Silver?” Della asked.

“Kate was one of the sisters who was kicked out with Kayla and the only one who isn’t accounted for. A lot of Sisters use the name of their community as a surname. Kate was always kinda a yes man. If I had to take a guess, I’d say she’s still with Kayla.”
“It’s a good place to start.” I said, “So. What’s the address?”
“415 Kings Trail. It’s a little bit past Sudbury but it’s right on the water and out of our territory. Not a bad place to hide if you ask me.”
“Isn’t that a little far from Toronto?” Della asked.
“It is, but even if Kate isn’t involved she might lead us to Kayla.” I replied. “We might as well talk to her.”
Della put the address into her phone and I looked back at Shelby. She was already looking at her own phone and tapping away at it.

“You sure you’re okay leaving your friend alone?”
“I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t know she’d be alright.” She replied. “Trust me. She can take care of herself. Just keep your eyes on the road and your head out of your ass and everything will turn out fine.”
I nodded and looked ahead at the road.

It was around 1 in the afternoon when we made it to the cottage. The sky was overcast and the air had a winter chill to it. The roads were nearly empty. Next to nobody was up in cottage country at that time of year. It was a lonely place that would’ve been a perfect place to hide. King’s Trail ran adjacent to a lake and a wispy mist hovered over the surface of the water.
“We got a new email from Davis.” Della said as we drove along the narrow road, “Looks like our number of victims has gone up to about thirty seven. Almost all of them were found in water. Most of them were killed during the past month.”
“Where exactly were they found?” I asked.
“All over the place. French River, Parry Sound, Gravenhurst, Barrie…”
“So between Sudbury and Toronto.” Shelby said, “I guess she commutes.”

I spotted a sign for 415 and turned down the driveway.
“It also places her in this area.” I said. The cottage ahead of us looked run down. Its wood paneling looked as if it was peeling off the exterior and had outright fallen off in some places. It looked abandoned but I spotted a blue Ford truck parked in the driveway. Somebody was clearly home.
I parked my sedan behind it before getting out.
“Why travel such a long distance though?” Della asked as she got out.
“Supply, probably.” Shelby replied, “I’d imagine you need to feed every few days, don’t you?” She asked.
“Yeah. Just about.” Della said.

“Well, it’s the same for us. Now, if you’re not killing your prey you can let them rest and come back to them when they’ve had time to recover. If you’re smart, you can get yourself a bunch of dumbass frat boys who think with their dicks and sorta just farm them. It’s still a fair hunt but you’re not depleting your supply. Start killing them on the other hand though…”
“It makes the hunt that much harder.” I finished as I approached the cottage. The lights inside were out. I couldn’t smell anyone inside although there was a faint stink of decay in the air that made me uneasy.
I tried the door. It was locked.
“Let me have a look at that.” Shelby said before she pushed past me. She tried the door as well before violently throwing her weight against it. Part of the door splintered as it swung open.

“Jesus…” I heard Della murmur under her breath as Shelby gestured for us to go inside. The interior of the cottage looked empty. There had once been furniture inside but now it looked as if it had been removed. The place seemed abandoned, save for the smell.
“Something died in here.” I noted as I walked into the cottages kitchen.
“Oh, really? Did your enhanced fucking senses pick that up?” Shelby asked. “Christ… Was she storing bodies in here? What the hell?” She covered her mouth and nose before entering the house after me.

The stink of death was overpowering. I doubted that Shelby could’ve found its source but I could. I wandered from the kitchen and into the hallway. The smell was coming from the bathroom and I braced myself for what I’d find in there as I pushed the door open. The bathtub was filled with water, and I could see the corpse of a woman floating inside. She’d been dead for some time, that much was clear. Her hands and feet were both bound with thick rope. It looked as if she’d been left to drown.

I covered my mouth with my sleeve at the sight of her and made myself step forwards. My eyes immediately went to her neck, looking for signs that she’d been bitten but I saw nothing. Instead, through her partially open mouth I glimpsed the jagged teeth of a siren.
“What is it?” Della called from behind me. She’d stayed outside, by the front door.
“We’ve got another body here!” I called and I could hear Shelby coming up behind me. She paused in the doorway as she saw the body, her eyes widening.
“Shit...” She murmured before hurrying to the side of the tub. “It’s Kate.”

“What happened to her?” I asked and watched as Shelby reached into the water. She lifted up Kate’s shirt, exposing her gills before grimacing in disgust.
“Someone stuffed her gills…” She said quietly.
“Excuse me?” I asked.
“They drowned her.” Shelby said, “Put something in her gills so she couldn’t breathe. Look at this…”
Slowly she reached into one of the gills and pulled out something round and dark red. I couldn’t tell what it was at first.
“Cotton balls… Fucking cotton balls. Fuck me…”

“You think Kayla did this?” I asked.
“Who the fuck else would’ve done it?” Shelby snapped. She looked down at the body again before forcing herself to exhale and shake her head.
“This… This is sick. She fucking tortured her! Hell, she didn’t even have the common fucking decency to bury her! She should be in the lake, buried! Not left up here to stink and rot! I-...”She stopped herself before going further and tried to force herself to be composed.
“I’ll need to make sure she’s properly buried before we leave… If you need pictures, evidence. Whatever. Just… Do it now…”
I managed a half nod before taking out my camera. I made it quick.

With the body documented, I left the cottage so Shelby could do what she needed to. Della was standing down by the floating dock, looking out over the misty lake. She looked back at me as I came down to join her.
“Is everything alright?” She asked.
“Yeah…” I replied, feeling tired. I smoothed down my hair as I looked out over the lake.
“The body belonged to Kate. Shelby’s asked to bury it. I think this just confirms that it’s Kayla we’re after.”
“That’s good, isn’t it?” Della asked. I gave a half nod.

“Yeah. The FRB will put out an alert on her. She’ll turn up soon enough…”
“You don’t sound too happy about that.” She noted.
“I’m fine with it. It’s just…” I paused. “She tortured one of her own. A friend from the sounds of it… Who does something like that? Who murders one of their own just because?”
“People do it all the time.” Della said, “I’ve killed people before.”
“Not for the hell of it you didn’t.” I rubbed my temple before sighing. “We’ll look through the cottage after Shelby’s done. See if we can’t find any hint as to where Kayla went.”

I felt Della reach for my hand and let her lace her fingers with mine. For a moment, we just stood there together in silence. In my pocket, I felt my phone buzz and shifted away from her so I could answer it. The number on the display belonged to Davis.
“Davis.” I said as I answered, “Good to hear from you.”
“How’s it going, Marsh?” He replied, “I think you’d be happy to hear that a neighbor just brought us little May Swanson about an hour ago. She’s safe.”
I let out a breath that I didn’t know I’d been holding.

“Perfect… I think I’ve got an ID on our killer. I’ll give you a full update when we meet up later. How’s the kid doing?”
“Scared but unharmed.” Davis said, “Seems like she got a good look at the killer but I’m having trouble getting any details out of her aside from the fact that she drove a blue truck.”
A blue truck.

My eyes shifted over to the blue Ford that was parked by the cottage. I’d assumed that it was Kates although if it had been sitting there for as long as she had, it should have been covered in fallen leaves and snow… It wasn’t.
“Excuse me? A blue truck?” I asked.
“My guess is the kid bolted and hid as soon as her parents got attacked. She must’ve seen the killer driving off.”
I traded a look with Della. She was looking at the truck too now. If that was Kayla’s truck, then she’d been at the cottage recently.

Or she was still there.

Where would a siren at a lakeside cottage hide?

Dellas head shifted to the side, looking over at some movement although she had no time to react before the dock was thrown upwards. Something burst out of the water beside it and as it did, the dock was violently upturned. Della was tossed into the water and as the spray fell I saw the figure of a woman standing in the lake, her eyes fixated on me.

Kayla.

It had been years since I’d seen her, but I recognized her all the same. Her long brown hair clung to her face and that cocky look in her eye was impossible to forget. I dropped my phone and went for the pistol in my belt, but by the time I drew it Kayla had already closed the distance between us. She grabbed the gun in my hand and violently ripped it from my grasp. Her other hand gripped me by the throat and with the same effort one might use to dispatch a child, she slammed me against the ground.
“Well, well. Robert Marsh, wasn’t it?” She coyly hissed. “It’s been a long time, hasn’t it handsome?”
She pressed my gun against my forehead, a knowing smile on her lips.

“Credit where it’s due. I wasn’t expecting someone like you to pop in before I was done cleaning up. But hey, shit happens, right?” She tossed the wet hair out of her eyes. “Well. Let’s just call it a happy little accident, shall we? What was that you were just saying on the phone, that kid finally turned up? Good news, right? I was kinda hoping she’d freeze to death but hey, at least I know for sure and that’s what matters! I appreciate the helping hand…”

I saw her finger tighten on the trigger and I looked her dead in the eye. If she was going to shoot me, I at least didn’t want to give her the satisfaction of making me cower. I don’t think it mattered to her either way. All I saw in her was a cold, sadistic anticipation.
“Kayla!”
At the sound of Shelby’s voice, I saw a new expression cross Kayla’s face. Concern. She looked over towards the cottage, to where Shelby stood just outside the back door. I could see a rage on her fact that even made me a little nervous. Kayla on the other hand seemed amused by it.
“Well, well. Hey there Shelby.” She said, “Did the Count here rope you into this? I thought you’d gone native.”
“Leave the vampire alone. We know what you’ve done. You’ve gone way too far this time. You’re not going to outrun it.”

“What? Are you going to have a word with the Elders?” Kayla scoffed, “Please. I know what happened to Silver Lake. There’s nothing left. The Elders are dead, as are our sisters. It’s only you and me now. The last two sisters of Silver Lake.”
“You lost your right to be called Sister when you were exiled!” Shelby snarled.
“Did I? Well then I suppose there goes any incentive I might’ve had not to kill you too.”
Kayla moved to aim the gun at Shelby and in doing so I saw my window and took it. I grabbed at her arm and forced it towards my mouth. She may have been physically stronger than me, but she still bled when bit. Her warm blood filled my mouth as I sank my teeth into her arm and for just a moment, her grip on the gun loosened.

She jerked backwards and I managed to kick her off of me. The gun fell from her grasp and I grabbed at it. From the corner of my eye, I saw Kayla’s eyes dart between myself and Shelby, who’d taken off towards her at a sprint. The woman wasn’t a fool. She knew she was outnumbered. As I tried to aim the gun at her, Kayla kicked me in the jaw before taking off towards her truck. She only barely made it there before Shelby reached her and slammed her into the grille of the Ford, pinning her against it.
“You lured the prey to Silver Lake.” Shelby snarled, “You were the one who doomed it! Their blood is on your hands.”

Kayla gritted her teeth and drove her first into Shelby’s neck, I heard her gag as she struggled to breathe. With a cry of exertion, Shelby was hurled to the ground as Kayla scrambled to the cabin of her truck. By the time Shelby was on her feet again, the engine had roared to life. The truck shot forwards, throwing Shelby up onto the hood where she rolled off and hit the ground in a heap. I forced myself up to my feet and took aim at the windshield. I only got off two shots before the truck hit me too and sent me back to the ground. My ears were ringing but I could see Kayla’s truck shoot backwards. Its rear crashed against my sedan before veering off the side of the driveway and backing out onto the road. A moment later, she was gone leaving only the sound of squealing rubber in her wake.

I could see Shelby starting to pick herself up, wincing in pain as she did. From the corner of my eye, I watched Della crawling out of the lake. She rushed to my side as I made myself stand.
“She’s going after the Swanson kid…” I rasped. “We’ve got to warn Davis.” I spotted my phone on the ground nearby and gestured to it. Della picked it up. She handed it to me and I dialed the number. Shelby stared bitterly in the direction Kayla had driven off in. She was ahead of us, but we weren’t out of the fight yet.

Part of me had hoped that we’d catch up to Kayla on the road, but we didn’t see a single trace of her. I wondered if perhaps she’d only suggested she was going after the child to throw us off. Send us back to Toronto so she could go elsewhere. I wasn’t going to bet on that, though. It was past sunset by the time we made it back to Toronto. We didn’t bother heading to Davis’ office. We knew he wouldn’t be there and neither would May Swanson. Rick Davis was many things but naive, he wasn’t.

Instead, we headed towards the city's west end, Etobicoke. It had been some time since I’d needed to visit Davis’ apartment there. It wasn’t his home. I’d never actually been to his home before, but I’d been to the apartment. He and a few of his associates had used it before as a safehouse. If there were any place he’d take May Swanson, it would be there. The apartment was in a more suburban part of town, in a duplex on a quiet and unassuming street. I parked the sedan out front and got out. My body was still a little sore from being run over by a mermaid serial killer earlier, but I knew I could manage.
“Doesn’t look like Kayla found him.” Della noted as we got out and went for the front door. I paused as soon as I noticed that it was open just a crack. Immediately I went for my gun and pushed my way inside. The apartment was dark but I could smell fresh blood. In the dim light, I could see a man lying against the wall. Alive, but wounded. Davis.

I swore under my breath and rushed to his side and heard him groan in pain. I could see the gash in his neck. He was losing blood. Fast. I put some pressure on his wound, trying to stop the bleeding if I could.
“Marsh…” He rasped. “The kid…”
“She’s here.” I called to the others, “She’s got the kid!”
I could hear Della behind me, her hand replaced my own to put pressure on Davis’ wound. Outside, I could hear the roar of an engine. We’d just missed her.

I took off like a shot, rushing past Shelby through the door and back out onto the street. I could see the taillights of the truck just down the street and I took aim. It was reckless, but I had no other choice. I squeezed off three shots before I heard the pop of Kayla’s rear tires. Her truck swerved and jerked, careening into another parked car. The Ford all but crushed it.

I kept my gun raised as I approached the crash. I saw one of the truck doors swing open. The small shape of a child dropped out onto the street and desperately tried to run. The driver's side door opened and I watched as Kayla stepped out. She straightened the ranchers hat on her head before fixing me in a frustrated glare.
“Terrible timing, Marsh.” She hissed. “Absolutely fucking terrible.”
“You’re not getting the kid, Kayla.” I said. “It’s over.”

“Oh? It’s over, says the prissy little vampire cop?” She scoffed, “You think I’m going to throw in the towel just because you tell me to? I’ve been an apex fucking predator for longer than you’ve been alive, vampire! It’s in my blood! My very nature! There’s no changing it. I am what I am, and what I am sweetheart… Is fucking hungry!

She took a step towards me, but I wasn’t going to let her close the distance this time. I pulled the trigger. The bullet struck her in the shoulder but it didn’t stop her. She threw herself at me and not a single bullet I fired was enough to slow her down. Then from the corner of my eye I saw movement. Something grabbed her and yanked her to the side, forcing her to the ground. In the streetlights, I saw Shelby standing over Kayla, keeping her pinned.
“Sorry, cowgirl. But the bullshit stops now!"

She snarled before breaking her nose. Her hands closed around Kayla’s throat, ready to choke the life out of her and I put a hand on Shelby’s shoulder. I kept my gun trained Kayla.
“Don’t!” I warned her.
“Why? You know she deserves it. We should stuff her gills… Drown her like she drowned Kate…”
“Not right here, Shelby.”
She opened her mouth to protest before she saw exactly what I meant.

The gunshots and commotion hadn’t gone unnoticed. People had come out of their houses. Countless eyes were upon us. This wasn’t the place to put a mad dog down, even if she had it coming. I saw Shelby’s grip on Kayla’s neck loosen. I kept my gun trained on her head, but she was out cold. She’d stay that way until the distant police sirens made it to us.

Detective Davis was lucky, as was May Swanson. Both came out of that night alive. I suppose Kayla was lucky that she did too… It wasn’t easy to keep Shelby from finishing the job behind closed doors, but I managed to convince her to settle for detention. It was a small comfort to see Kayla shipped off somewhere where I doubted she’d ever see the light of day again. Personally, I wouldn’t have minded seeing her put down, but I don’t make those rules. All I do is enforce them as best I can.

When Della and I parted ways with Shelby back in Tevam Sound the next day, I honestly was hoping I’d see her again and maybe I will. Only under better circumstances. Maybe next time, I ca

Maybe next time, I can see what kind of life she’s carved out for herself. Maybe someday I can have one of my own.

2020.11.28 01:13 Y_U_NoHax Hidden cameras for my house

Part 1 here
---
That afternoon I was wondering whether the laptop works or not.
During the boot up process the booting process seems to have a problem. It would start the usual PC BIOS but instead of going up to the bootloader, the system immediately boots to DOS.
And then there was this long message. Here's the full transcript (and I had to take a photo on my phone because after 5 seconds, it displays another message):
"You are very stubborn. I told you to not to access this operating system and you just did. You know what you have done?
Right after displaying this message, this device will be programmed to softlock the entire DOS subsystem. You can restart this laptop anytime you want, but you are out of hope. I also rigged the camera, so I will be watching your actions in front of this thing. Right now you are now being watched, courtesy of my hidden cameras placed around your house. Call the cops and risk getting a 50-cal punctured through your head. Destroy this laptop and I'll detonate the kitchen. Call for help and I'll make sure this chair will be your grave. I don't think you are this scared, but when this message ends I'll place a timer for when you think this isn't real. When the time's up, you're screwed."
Intimidating message, I know, but what makes this very dubious is that I live in an apartment room, not a large house, and I even don't have a stove inside.
Then a 2-minute timer starts after the message. I don't know what to do next. I peered at the window to see something suspicious, like a shady guy with a rifle hiding inside one of the apartment rooms across, or someone looking at my apartment room. A minute has passed and there is no sign of suspicious activity. Maybe the text is just fooling me further. I just sat in front of the laptop, waiting for the timer to expire.
When it does, nothing ever did happen when minutes have passed. It was just an intimidation message... until the laptop began to act erratic again. It displays an error message:
Invalid boot sector. Insert a floppy disk, restart and choose to start on disk and press a key.
It began to display the same error message after 10 seconds, after which minutes have passed and the screen's now cluttered with the above error message. And how in the world can I insert a floppy disk? I can't even get out of the looping error because the keyboard's inoperable. Ten minutes have passed and the laptop starts to emit a long beep. I was now confounded.
I restarted the laptop again because it was too annoying. Then the worst has came to me: the laptop stopped loading its BIOS. I messaged Meeco about this, but no reply. I went to a computer repair shop to have this laptop fixed.
---
After spending a few bucks on having the entire laptop fixed, the device is now changed on being booted to Windows 7, while the Windows 10 and DOS operating systems are being removed. The files are still intact, and no threats are being detected so far.
By the time Windows 7 has started up things became going on a downwards spiral. I noticed that the there's a second user, completely unnamed and has a completely blank image. I wondered who could that be and how'd it mysteriously create a user on this laptop. I tried accessing it, but I can't because it requires an administrator to access it.
As I accessed my account, I was greeted by a barrage of message boxes, all of them saying, "YOU DID IT! HOW COULD YOU?" I took a screenshot of the desktop then closed every one of them.
The fear of staying longer in this laptop has made me uncomfortable and compels me to complete the games later. I looked at the internet about computer virus and stuff, and almost read the half of the index. The most destructive ones (and usually the infamous) -- Michaelangelo, ILOVEYOU, Sasser, and even CIH -- I'd hope I won't fall victim to those viruses.
5:00 PM and I grew more paranoid than ever. Insanity grew. The next thing that's close of being insane was this.
There is now what seems to be a picture of a man in windowed mode appearing on the desktop. It's quite small, like it's the size of Minesweeper in Easy difficulty. However, I can't seem to close it as there's no close button in the window. I tried accessing Task Manager to close the window, but it failed. It needs an administrator to close it. And to rub salt in the wound, the window appears to be set to be on front, so whatever application I'm running, the creepy man will always be obstructing my view. But, that's not all this... creepy man has to offer.
There now seems to be a massive increase in storage in the C and D drives, despite said drives having nothing in them except video games and a few rubbish things. I checked it to find both drives chock-full yet the contents are left unchanged. I tried running Most Wanted but it crashes; Generals goes fine but the player data has become corrupted with rubbish data that all I can see in the menu is garbled text and what appears to be glitched textures of units and structures in the overworld. And nothing is even worse when Warcraft III had its data scrambled, with units unable to speak or has no speech (even with sound), random events of buildings going from full health to almost 5% of its health in an instant, and enemies acting like they haven't had booze in years. The games are nigh unplayable.
Whenever I access the social media -- Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Reddit -- my browser always redirects me to a website called whathaveyoudone, a website which, as one may ask, is nothing but a page that flashes, with text that says, "What have you done?" in caps lock. And it closes my browser after 5 seconds. Other websites are accessible, like Discord, but most of the user interface is screwed up, like I can't type anything or something. The groups that I joined, as well as my friends that I usually have a conversation with, are now gone, replaced with usernames and groups all named "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE???".
After 30 minutes of seeing the same shit again and again, the system has gone haywire. Windows Explorer terminated by itself, leaving me with no graphical user interface but the creepy guy is still there. Technically I can still access Task Manager and run a program, but whenever I browse a program I can't access it, leaving me with a message box that says, as usual, "What have you done?" Now I'm stuck in a interfaceless Windows 7 with a creepy English guy confined in a small window and slowly tormenting my system. But the tormenting has not done yet; one hour after softlocking me out of the system the vital computer process lsass (or the Local Security Authority Subsystem Service) terminated itself too, leaving me with a countdown of ten minutes and with a message that says:

This system is shutting down. Please save all work in progress and log off. Any unsaved changes will be lost. This shutdown was initiated by iexplore.exe.
Time until shutdown: 00:10:00
Message: WHAT HAVE YOU DONE? WHAT HAVE YOU DONE??
Now that everything is doomed, not only the system self-terminated by itself but it also initiated a countdown, leaving me with only ten minutes until shutdown. I don't know what to do next, as it's already locking me out. I had to waste the entire ten minutes by staring at the TV, sitting there blankly while the laptop has gone to oblivion.
Then the device turned off by itself.

2020.11.27 05:56 Migayle2020 Hidden cameras for my house

I rent a room in a shared house. Two of my roomates I do not trust and both of them have extensive knowledge about tech/wifi etc. They play games too much. I have one computer, two laptops, one wifi printer and one extra monitor that I use with my work laptop. Can they hack into my devices? they are all password protected including my phone. If so, can McAfee secure my devices and prevent roomates from accessing devices or view sites that I use. I worry because I don't feel safe here with them and they're always up to no good. I'm saving up for my house. I tested them one night to see if they were watching what I was doing. I opened microsoft word and wrote "change battery for smoke detector in kitchen. it has a hidden camera." the next week, I found the smoke detector in the kitchen totally removed from the ceiling. It was a joke. One more test was, I wrote in my microsoft word document "there is a camera in the chandelier and it's not working now."

Please help.

2020.11.26 10:20 StilusPAKK My fiancée might be cheating on me while 'working' on our first child

Our relationship started almost 4 years ago and it was long distance for the first 6months. Back then I also had strange gut feelings about her cheating with probably multiple men but never got to any evidence of this (she had a lot of fuck buddies back when she was at college and I know that she has a big taste)
My previous relationships mostly ended because everytime I got cheated on, so I am trusting my feelings as they were right all the time.
She moved in with me 6months into the relationship and at first there were no problems whatsoever (probably because she didnt know anybody around here but she got a job real quick and some girlfriends to party with etc. so I think its not a problem for her to make friends. never was.)
2-2.5 years went by. sometimes she was odd, like she keeping something from me. As of now shes working from home cause of the pandemic and I work as usual because my work is nearby. This leads to her having a LOT of freetime alone and she got bored (I would too).
After her work is done and Im still out of home she would go to get groceries and shopping for 3-4 hours which is okay I guess, shes a woman RIGHT? but everytime shes out doing some shopping she never ever answered any of my calls, claiming that shes keeping the phone in her purse while grabbing groceries even though I know for a fact that other times her phone is like glued to her palm. so to speak.
I checked her phone couple times (private and work as well) nothing there, but its not really convincing for me. It takes roughly 2 taps to delete something.
I made multiple unannounced step-bys at home everything was normal every time. maybe my head is screwing with me and building on my paranoia. Im completely healthy, mentally as well as physically, its just I always think of the worst.
I decided to purchase and setup a security camera disguised as a table clock that part of the house where it comes handy for us (the clock) and it should record the only entrance to my apartment, so if theres something going on I will know for sure.
The 'incident' that made me order the device was that I had no time to run some errands because I was at work and she was free that day so I asked her the day before to do it for me. nothing difficult or time consuming (btw I never ask anything like this, I like to do my things myself). Her reaction was weird, at first she was angry like she was mad at me for asking such thing but she said she would take care of it. Right after that she had an empty stare like she was zoned out showing a face like she has to figure out something so my favor wont fuck up her plans for that day (she told me she has nothing to do that day).
Later that month I arrived home from work and I found white stains on a brown towel (not cum or anything. it smelled like toothpaste... kinda) I asked her if she knew what that might be cause it wasnt there when I left, she got all defensive yelling that she doesnt know and thats a stupid question. I got confused because I asked her nicely not judging or anything. She responded like she did when she was hiding something from me and didnt have the guts to tell me upfront only after I started to put 2 and 2 together.
We are planning to have a child and after the pandemic a wedding but honestly I dont feel like getting cheated on in my own home and raise someone elses kid.
The camera once it arrives will grant me the ability to have a peek anytime im not there to see if theres something going on. If there isnt. I will be the happiest guy. If there is I will end the relationship before it gets more serious (with kids and marriage)
tldr:
I think my fiancée is cheating on me in my own home so Im setting up a hidden security camera to make sure.

2020.11.26 08:00 retroboat Hidden cameras for my house

I decided to dust off my Whites 6000 Pro XL detector today. I put some fresh batteries and took it for a spin in the yard. On the end of my swing I was getting “bump tones” at the apex of each swing. I’ve noticed this before, but now it was extremely noticeable. I brought my detector back in the house to do some troubleshooting. I removed the 950 coil from the shaft and held it in my hand and upon turning on the detector and stabilizing, if I barely tapped or shook the coil, I got a solid tone. Coil probably bad. I have another older Whites detector with smaller coil and swapped the coil and this coil worked perfectly. I placed my wedding ring down on the dining room floor to play with the adjustments and everything seemed to be working nicely. I went to my yard to test over an area where I have a couple of test targets buried. The older coil is off an older Whites GEB detector and honestly didn’t know how it was going to work. After playing in the yard for a while and coming inside to clean up, I noticed I forgot to pick my ring off the floor. This is where the fun began. I was pretty sure where I left it and then realized my Rumba ran while I was outside! At that very moment my wife came home from work and she knew I did something wrong by the fear in my eyes. I immediately told her my tale and of course she looked at me like that was the biggest bullshit story of losing a wedding ring ever! I cleaned out the robotic ring eater and nothing. It has a vacuum base that goes into a base station bin, nothing but Husky hair... Then I had to search 1100sf of the house to find out where the little bastard robot hid my ring. Our house has two sections, all hardwood, so at least I didn’t have to the bedrooms. Crawling around with my mag flashlight I began my quest. I looked everywhere and nothing. We have forced heat with metal floor grates and I began pulling each one off thinking the little Gretzky plowed it into the slots down into the ductwork. I pulled out my inspection camera and searched 7 vents and ducts with nothing but a few pennies. Sooo, I thought I would recreate the crime of the century and ran the vac once again. My wife kept shaking her head at me as I was doing my best Columbo crime scene investigation I could muster. I noticed the vac went under a China display cabinet and it wrapped around the legs in a weird pattern going completely under to an area I didn’t think it would fit. There it was. It was hidden on the backside of one of the legs tucked in a 45* angle. My wife was less than impressed by my success and the shear stupidity of it all. Long story short, I got to play with my detector for 45 minutes, but spent 3 hours army crawling around chasing a stupid vacuum while my wife reconsidered her sole mate selection. The irony was I couldn’t use my detector that I finally got working because it’s basically useless in the house. Lesson learned, never leave your ring on the dang floor!

2020.11.26 00:09 500scnds [Table] Iama guy who has been living alone in an abandoned ‘ghost town’ for over 6 months. I bought the town just over two years ago. AMA! (pt 3/3 FINAL)

Questions Answers
I subscribe to your YouTube channel! Are you still seeing that one ghost? Have you gone back into that building? I completely redid that building because it creeped me out too much. It had dark carpet, dark walls, lace curtains. I ripped out the carpet, left it wood floors, painted the walls white, took out the curtains. Feels better in there, but I still don't really like being in there.
You mentioned opening it up for short time stays, would you market by leaning into the supernatural elements? Staying in a ghost town sounds perfect in my opinion. If you are a believer, then the history will make it exciting. If you are not a believer, then the absolute stillness sounds pleasantly perfect. I don't think we'll lean into it, but not lean away from it either. I won't have 'ghost tours' or anything like that, but if people want to come and look for ghosts, that's their issue. Cerro Gordo's history is what it is. It's very public. Some are 100% convinced there is paranormal history here, some think that's bogus. I don't want to push one way or the other. People can do what they want once here...
the below is a reply to the above
I understand that. Not trying to tell you anything to do with your work but I really would think about marketing to some. At least think about a Halloween/October takeover that leans into it for a few weeks. If your ROI increases from some small adjustments to the town, it couldn't hurt. But you also may have zero interest in actually turning a profit, which is equally acceptable as it is your town. Prior marketing manager here so hard to turn off the ideas. Great work with the town so far! totally! Around certain holidays it would definitely be fun. I just don't want to use it as a crutch, you know? Some towns lean on that so much. I think Cerro Gordo is much bigger than just that one element, so don't want to be known for JUST that...
Hey! I was watching your 6 month update last night. Heck of a coincidence. I love your work. The trickle supply for the water out of the mine probably needs a tank somewhere, are you storing it further up the mountain? Or is it just trickle straight into the town? Thanks for checking it out! I have a few tanks. Two 2,500 gallon tanks a bit above town. That is where water is flowing right now. Then there is two 500 gallon tanks that sort of backup those two 2,500 gallon tanks. The water comes around 400 gallons per day. Although it stopped yesterday weirdly. So we're going back down this coming week to see why.
the below is a reply to the above
Is it possible to rig up a cistern to catch rainwatesnow? Maybe some way to melt the snow, to supplement your water supply from underground and give you a backup in case of emergencies? My grandparents lived on Grand Cayman for a few years and they used a cistern for laundry and the like. I've been going over different options along these lines. There are some weird regulations about capturing water around here, but I think we may be able to do some variation of that long term.
the below is a reply to the above
Good luck!! I look forward to seeing what you do with Cerro Gordo and how you solve these problems :) Thank you!
I just watched the 6 month update video on YT, and I think the only time I got nervous for you was when you were sitting on that cart and it started to shift! How are you preparing for this winter after spending the end of last years in the town? A lot of ways. That first winter was all new to me. I grew up in Florida and lived in Texas. My truck was 2WD with street tires.
I have already stocked up on wood, slowly stocking up on food, and have a 4WD Tacoma with chains ready.
I'm sure I'll learn a lot this winter too, but I'm in a much better place than last year...
I think I may be too late to the party. But I’m a unique age that allowed me to remember your first ama on here, and then also happened to follow the sam and Colby videos when they came to visit. I was like no way I know this place! I was so sorry to hear about the hotel. How was it working with Sam and Colby? Did their videos help raise some funds towards rebuilding the hotel? Was it interesting to host the group there when you’re usually more of a lone wolf? Sam & Colby are great. Really nice guys. We've stayed in touch. Their fans are amazing and really helped towards rebuilding the hotel. I hope S&C come back for the opening party!
As the owner of the town, can you just change the name? Or is there some kind of process that needs approval? I probably could, but I like the name, also the history of the town is why it's interesting to me, so I'd like to keep it the same...
Do you get many people drop by out of the blue? When it's good weather, yeah. It's a weird situation because the town is technically 'closed' because of the pandemic and I'm trying to do work on the town.
So if I'm in a remote part of the town and someone shows up to main area, it's weird to come back and find people basically waiting/looking around your house.
My email is public and there is a sign with a phone number at bottom of hill. I just wish people would arrange visits ahead of time...
the below is a reply to the above
I guess Cerro Gordo Rd that runs through town is still a public easement, and you can't put up a gate? Technically a 'utility road' because DWP/ATT/FAA use it to access stuff.
the below is a reply to the above
Ouch. No chance of getting it vacated then. Although it's probably less likely you'll get trapped for long by a rockslide or something. Congrats on living the dream, dude. I used to travel a ton around NM and southern CO when I lived in Texas, and always fantasized about buying something way abandoned, way out in the desert. Thanks for helping preserve a critical part of our history that many people overlook. Appreciate that!
Weren't you like trapped there last winter? Lol anyway are you gonna get that place up and running soon? I sure was. Not this winter! I'm much more prepared this time around.
I hope to have people coming to stay overnight by this time next year (pandemic allowing)...
the below is a reply to the above
I for sure wanna go when you have it running! I remember that you got sick while trapped right? I'm so happy to hear you made it out and back in ok!!! I can't wait for you to open up. I'm not too far away (a couple states over). Better now! I had a few rounds of appendicitis. A few rounds because first time they treated it just with antibiotics because of pandemic. Then it came back again and I had to have surgery to get it removed. Not a lot of fun, but better now!
Have you thought about busting out a metal detector? I did a few weeks ago and found these badass Chinese coins. I need to use it more but there is so much scrap metal/nails around it is hard to find just the good stuff...
[deleted] Damn, that is one good username...
Hi Brent - just started following you and the Cerro Gordo account on IG! You’ve said that the approach increases 6,000 feet in elevation in 7 miles. What’s it like driving up? I imagine it’s 7 miles of razor sharp switchbacks? What speed do you take it? You’re 32 - do you see yourself dating in the future? Last question: have you watched Schitt’s Creek? The road can be intimidating at first (and especially at night) but I'm used to it now. I've done it a bunch that now I just get to enjoy the view. At first I was so focused on road I couldn't see anything else haha. I used to go around 10MPH all the way up. Now I hover around 20 if I'm in my truck and maybe up to 30MPH if I'm in my Polaris side-by-side...
Need a brewery? Always. I thought the 'hoist house' could be a cool brewery one day.
Can I come visit? Let's let the pandemic die down a bit, then sure! why not
How do you cope with the isolation so well? Do you meditate or anything like that? Long walks. Introvert.
Reddit.
How do you know the silver there is really played out? That's what I've been told and fancy companies determined, but I hold out hope. You could be a few inches away from the vein and not know it. One day, maybe...
Hey I've seen your YouTube videos before! Any more ghost stories? I remember you telling one about seeing a little kid in a bunk house I believe. None as concerning to me as the bunkhouse story. I still don't like going in that building.
The other one recently involved my wallet. I came back from town one day and put it inside on top of some laundry I had just done. I came back in, and the wallet wasn't there. It wasn't ANYWHERE. To the point where I had to order new cards such. Then, months later, I brought in laundry, and my wallet was back on top of this new stack. So some mischief for sure being played...
This might be a dumb question but since you put 1.4m into it, how are you still making money to buy food and stuff while running ghost town? I have a 'day job' that luckily I can do from my computer.
How do you go on about getting basic necessities like toilet paper, food, etc.. I guess, what I'm asking is, how close is the nearest Walmart? Nearest walmart is maybe 2 hours away? 2.5 maybe? I usually get supplies every 2 weeks or so in a town called "Lone Pine" which is just over an hour from the town. The store is small and variety is limited, but gets the job done
the below is a reply to the above
Can you get things delivered? I can’t see a UPS truck or a USPS mail cart making it anywhere near the town. And how is that handled if you decided to move there permanently? Do you have a registered address? How would you handle any 911 type situations? I can't. My PO Box is in Lone Pine. About an hour or so drive each way. I think that's my only option. I have to go there when I get groceries and pick up whatever is there...
911 is tough. A 7 mile steep dirt road isn't easy. Maybe helicopter if situation is bad enough?
the below is a reply to the above
Obviously there’s heaps liability having this awesome destination with potential hazards (old mines, etc.).. on one hand I’d think the state and/or federal government would have to extend basic emergency services to the town, but since you own the whole town they may not have to actually offer any support. Do you know what the situation will be? Have you started any conversations about this with any government offices about what will be available once you’re commercially operating and open to the public? With the BLM and the FAA having interests close to your town, it seems feasible that the govt at least has the capacity to get to where you are regularly. This just signs interesting as hell, I can’t wait to go watch all of your videos! FAA will theoretically clear the road in the winter if I call in the favor. It isn't a set rule, but I'm supposed to look after their stuff a bit when they're not here, and they help when they can. That type of relationship for now. But I do know people at both BLM and FAA and probably should have convos around when we're fully open...
the below is a reply to the above
As a fellow Texan I’d never been too keen on going back to Cali.. but your town has changed that. I’d love to road trip over with my husband and check your town out once you’re up and running. I’ll be following this over the next year or so and look forward to having the opportunity to eventually make it happen! Thanks for checking it out! Come on out
the below is a reply to the original answer
I love lone pine and would love to come say hi one day Lone Pine is the best! Is that where you live?
Is this your website? https://store.cerrogordomines.com/ Correct
At what point will you start dressing up as the Miner Forty-Niner and scaring teenagers who drive through the town? Who's to say I don't already...
Oh wow I discovered your channel not too long ago, what was your main driving motive for all of this? Seems like an impossible project personally Gotta also ask, how are the kittens doing? Kittens are good! Eating soft food now, which makes my life easier haha.
The drive has changed over time. When I started, I think I was looking for a cool hospitality project. Now being here so much and learning all the history, there is this overwhelming sense of responsibility. Of duty. That I HAVE to get this town to a place where more people can experience it, and leave it for generations to come. Probably going a bit nuts
Do you live there by yourself? If not, what do others do? I'm here by myself. Some people visit occasionally to help work on town, but nobody else lives here full time.
I remember when you first posted about this. So glad you've kept it up. What has been the biggest surprise you've learned about yourself during the time you've spent in your town during quarantine? Hmmm. I think I've learned to slow down. I used to rush rush rush. Mainly to avoid doing important things or sitting with certain ideas. Now I'm comfortable just sitting in a chair looking at the mountain for an hour. And not being anxious that I need to be doing something else...
[deleted] I think it's slowed me down a lot. I used to run around doing all sorts of tasks that seemed so important. But they were just distracting from things I didn't want to sit with or think about or act on. I don't get those distractions here. It clarifies things for me...
What kind of camping is available in the area? There is surrounding BLM land in the area that is available for camping. I hope one day on the back of our property to offer camping options, but for now it would be too much to manage
I follow you on tiktok! One question that bugs me sorry if you've already answered is what can you do about all that unstable dynamite, is there not a way to get a bomb disposal or similar? I just leave it there. Not worth the hassle to try to remove and I'm the only one going in most these mines, so I keep a metal record of where it is...
Hey! Love the YouTube channel! found it a few weeks ago. Curious, have you slept in the mine lounge yet? I am sure you've answered this already. Thanks for sharing with us! Hope to visit some day. Take care mate! I haven't slept in the lounge, but I did sleep in the mine the other night. That's actually what my next video is about.
I took the hoist down into the main Union Mine and had them take up the hoist so I had to be down there from around 6pm-8am. It was QUITE the experience...
I’ve seen a few comments mentioning internet access, and your mention of the ATT hot spot that does the trick for you. Do you intend to maintain the atmosphere of a relatively internet free setting, or do you intend to bring in WiFi for visitors? You stated you want people to come see the town and experience the history, and I feel some of our modern comforts would greatly detract from that, especially WiFi. It also brings me to Edward Abbey -esque thoughts on paving the dirt roads that lead to special places in the desert (don’t do it) I'd never pave our dirt road. It's difficult, but it needs to be difficult. It takes a long time, but during that time you build anticipation. And RIGHT when you want to say 'fuck it' and turn around, the town reveals itself to you, and it takes your breath away. Then you feel like you've 'earned' the stay in a weird way. And you don't want to leave.
In terms of WIFI, I don't want super fast wifi. Something so people can communicate with world if they need to, but we're not a co-working space.
Have you met any famous people? Jeff Goldblum came to film something here. That was pretty cool. He's really nice. I guess that counts?
the below is a reply to the above
Oh wow, that counts, what did he film? An episode of his show "World According to Jeff Goldblum" - it was about denim.
Hi! Just watched a couple of your videos - so cool. I love that you're filming all this! I gotta ask if you've got names for all the goats and kittens yet? I know you mentioned a couple names but not 11 names! :) OK! Here it goes. Goats - Tofu, Beretta, Bubba, Elon, Senorita Juanita.
Kittens - Gordo. The rest are still unnamed. Any suggestions?
the below is a reply to the above
Reading through your other comments, Levi has to be one of their names for sure.. Excellent call!! I like that.
[deleted] The town has a very rich history. Biggest producer of silver in California, more gunfights that could be recorded, 'ghosts', hidden treasure, everything.
I never get bored here...
Do you experience any form of corporeal inequality or tension between you and the remaining ghost populace? I imagine living in a ghost town would give you a comprehensive insight into ghost culture and society, are they actively trying to involve you in the community or are they giving you the silent treatment? I know where they like to hang out. They know where I hang out. We respect each other's space
Have you thought of getting amateur astronomers up there to take some pics of the sky? It would be an awesome place to go for a weekend to get the stars. Stars are amazing. This winter that became my obsession - long exposure photos. I'd never taken any in my life but this place is prime for them. I've really enjoyed it.
I've watched hours of your youtube channel man you are so good at it! Fascinating story. I do think you are fuckin mental wondering around by yourself up there. On that note when you are exploring mines are you careful about gas build up? I've watched other exploration videos and sometimes they have a little device that alerts to harmful gases, which you might not be able to smell. Wow, thanks for checking them out! I'm glad you like them. I bring a 4-gas monitor with me into the mines
What a coincidence! I've been getting your vids in my recommeded for weeks and decided to give in yesterday, and now you show up on the front page of reddit. Nice. I absolutely love this kind of project. Maybe because I basically grew up in one myself, my parents bought a 19th-century french textile factory and we've been renovating it for the past 20 years to receive guests in it. Do your long-term plans include rebuilding some of the old buildings that weren't there? Some of the missing 478? Also, with tourism likely to increase, how are you planning on keeping it authentic? Definitely want to rebuild some buildings lost. I have a photo from 1890s that shows a TON of buildings that aren't here anymore. However, given the buildings that are here, I can piece together where they should be...
Hey Brent, I've been following your journey for a few weeks now, just want to let you know how much I enjoy your videos! It's obvious you put a lot of time and care into the content that you edit and release. I know you just got the kittens - have you considered getting a dog as well? Thank you for watching! It definitely takes a long time for each video. That isn't my background. I'd never made a video before April, so it's all new and I'm slow. But I enjoy it
How much of the original hotel that burned are you able to salvage? was anything found in the ashes that could be incorporated to the rebuild? How are you planning on getting water for the resort? Do you wear an oxygen mask when you go down into the mines? When do you expect people will be able to come and stay at Cerro Gordo as a resort? Thanks for the AMA! I don't think resort is the route we'll take anymore. It doesn't fit the place. It also isn't the type of place I like to stay. I think it will be more like a lodge or a bed/breakfast. I think it fits the vibe here much better.
We'll have to truck up water for now, unless we find a different solution.
Not much of the hotel was left, but some original floorboards will be incorporated into the new floor
Might be too late and have missed you, but i love the YT channel, thanks for sharing such great videos. My question: how's the feeling of freedom there? Do you ever just divert from what you were planning on doing, and...decide to walk/drive in a different direction and see what you see? I feel like that would be an amazing feeling. Totally. Almost everyday. I almost plan on getting 'lost' in the late afternoon.
I'll set out with a plan. See something interesting along the way. Hike there. See something else interesting. Hike there. See something interesting. Repeat that for a long time and get 'lost'
It is an amazing feeling for sure.
(the below has been split into two, enumerated
I just watched a bunch of the videos. Two questions: 1. When you were exploring the mine where 30 people had died, where you a bit worried (or perhaps anticipating) to find them? They died in a collapse. Meaning dirt and rock fell on them in such amounts that others couldn't rescue them. So I don't think it's likely we'd stumble upon them. They'd still be under the collapse
Here is an article that mentions the collapse: https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-2006-oct-08-me-then8-story.html
"Cerro Gordo’s deadliest mine disaster struck in the early 1870s when a cave-in killed at least eight and as many as 35 Chinese miners. They were mining in limestone below the 200-foot level and failed to shore up the tunnel with timber, former Cerro Gordo mining foreman Fred Fisher told a Times reporter in 1950. Their bodies were never recovered."
2. Also, why are the mines full of jeans? Would people just run around butt naked when their jeans got teared? I've heard a few theories. First, they sh*t their pants and left them back there. Next, they had a pair of work pants and a pair of everyday pants and changed once they got there. Next, the pants were expensive and belonged to the mine not the miner so they stayed at the mine. Next, they ripped and they threw them in trash heaps back in the mine
Have you elected yourself mayor yet? Just for the heck of it. And do you allow tourists? Just now. Mayor Brent! Elected. Unanimously from all parties present :)
What’s the coolest thing you’ve dug up? I found some Chinese coins that are apparently 300 years old or so. I found some pocket-watches, old pants, dynamite boxes. All sorts of crazy stuff. Here is photos of some
Most of the tunnels (you use another term, I forget it now) look like walking while standing up straight might be an issue. How high is the ceiling in the easier to get to places? and how wide? I was watching the 'Most Dangerous' video so not thinking about that so much, but the places people might normally explore. It can be annoying. I'm 6'2" tall, so I have to hunch over in a lot of the mines. Hours of hunching over doesn't feel so good the next day! But I think it's worth it (obviously)...
What is your water access like there? You must have wells. No water! It's an ongoing issue, but I'm working on it...
What kind of temperature variation do you see at that altitude right next to Death Valley? And how are the night skies? I don't imagine you have much light pollution. So the other day it was 130 in Death Valley. A World Record I think. The Weather Channel somehow called me to ask how it was living in such inhospitable conditions. But when they called it was maybe 85 or 90 here. So I had to tell them I wasn't really in any danger.
The fact the town is at 8,500 ft really helps. It's crazy the difference, especially considering how close we are to Death Valley. The property is only 7 miles from the park's border...
Can you see Mt Whitney across the valley from Cerro Gordo Peak area or is it obscured? Yup! You can see Mt Whitney from almost all the buildings. Well, the wildfire smoke is impacting it right now, but usually. Also if you hike to the other side of the property, you have full views of Death Valley. An interesting high/low experience.
I know how to brew beer. Your town seems to be missing a brewery. Trade you brewing lessons for a stay? I'm listening...
Hello! What do you hate the most about living in the ghost town? Hmmm. I really think the positives outweigh the negatives, but lack of access to fresh vegetables and fruit is something that comes to mind. I miss my blackberries and spinach...
That video where the bar burnt down was super brutal. Were you able to salvage anything? Some things, but not that much.
The only 'silver lining' (outside the fact nobody was hurt), is that the icehouse next to the hotel was the original dump location for the hotel. So nobody has been under there in nearly 140 years. There are a lot of artifacts I hope to put in the new hotel that would have never been recovered otherwise...
the below is a reply to the above
Do you think any of the metal items may be intact enough to be restored (eg. the stove, range etc)? I'm hoping the wood burning stove from the common area, as well as the cast iron stove from the kitchen. Both took a good beating, but I'm certainly going to try. Would really tie the place back together...
Have you met the people from Ghost Adventures? Yeah! Zack and crew came out and filmed here. I didn't interact with them much, but I was here when they were filming...
After reading resortdude's excellent advice and industry insight, it occurred to me that there is a flaw in his thinking: He is thinking like a resort operator. A resort operator is in the business of supplying luxury, convenience, and serving the whims of picky patrons. However, your enterprise doesn't have follow that path: In fact, it probably shouldn't. I believe you are targetting a very different, almost opposite market: What you have to offer is an authentic frontier-style experience. And that experience is far from luxurious! It's closer to camping. I wonder if a camping operator has to adhere to the same requirements as a luxury resort operator? I imagine you'd be leaning away from modern sewage systems, and toward long-drop toilets. Surely those are still legal? And rather than feeding your guests chef-made three-course-meals, you'd be feeding them baked beans, cowboy style. And who needs propane when you're cooking everything over an open fire! Or, if you want relative luxury, you could serve modern, military-style MREs. The one thing you can't escape though is the need for a large water supply. Also, I believe fire-suppression systems are not required in single-storey buildings below a certain size, provided they have multiple exits. Anyway, just some ideas. I may be way off-base, but I still think you should check out the regulations for outdoor camping operators, and see if they differ from those of luxury resort operators. Good luck! I hope to come and visit if ever I'm in the USA ; ) I think you're right. For a while we were considering a more 'resort' type thing. But it seems crazy now after being here. It will be closer to a lodge type atmosphere..
I followed you on Youtube recently and I'm a huge fan! Are you ever scared of finding a human skull in the mines? How high is the probability of finding one? Thanks for watching! I don't think it's too high of probability. If someone died back there, they probably died being collapsed by rock/dirt, so I wouldn't find their remains. If they didn't die in a collapsed, there probably was somebody with them to take them out. I can only see someone getting into some bad gas and passing out and nobody knowing where they were as an option to find someone...
Can I come up on the weekend and you can put me and my son to work? We’d bring our own tent and food etc. It would be a good trade. We get a weekend in the mountains and you get some extra hands. Shoot me an email! [email protected]
Youtube suggested me your videos and I liked them. Have you ever been in a situation of danger while exploring a mine ? Btw I have been very sad when your hotel burned down :( It was such a beautiful building. Good luck tho The closest to real danger I've had in the mines (that I'm aware of) was 2 times: 1) Early on, I wasn't paying enough attention and stepped on a board that cracked over a bit pit. Luckily not all my weight was on it and I corrected before falling. It taught me a big lesson about boards and pits. 2) recently I explored a collapsed level of the mine (the 200 level if you saw the video) getting in and out of that was really sketchy because the roof keep collapsing big rocks when trying to get out...
How's the local McDonalds? haha, far away! There is one in the town of Lone Pine. But that's about an hour away if you factor in the dirt road
I’ve been watching your videos on YouTube for a couple months now. I’ve always wondered, when you go down into the mines, (especially the recent video of the 200 level) how do you keep track of what passages you’ve gone into? Have you ever gotten lost? Thanks for watching! I haven't gotten really lost yet. I usually use a marker. For instance I'll follow the cart track if there is still track and if I leave the track, I'll leave something where I left the track. That way, I just find my way back to the track. Not a perfect system, but works for me
I follow you on tiktok! Have you found any denim yet? And also has any old dynamite gone off down there? Lastly, what is the weirdest thing you have found down there? I've found some denim, but not THE denim. As in, not Levi's jeans yet. No dynamite has gone off yet, or I wouldn't be typing this...
the below is a reply to the above
The denim is in the cribbing! My friend and his mining partner discovered the oldest blouse known to exist and sold it to the Levi’s company. He had to free climb up the cribbing (stacked waist rock wall) about 80-100 feet. He saw a glimpse of blue from his light and reached his hand between the rocks. Pulled out the blouse but one of the sleeves ripped off. They sold it for a lot of money. Best of luck! Damn, getting this type of tip at this time of night. I feel like I need to abandoned this and get into the mines ASAP
Wait didn’t you show up on Sam & Colby? Indeed. They came out and explored. I like those guys
I was watching your video where you and a friend (I assume?) were exploring a certain floor of a mine that had collapsed where 4 miners died I believe you said. The entrance had collapsed but you found another way in? Where are those dead miners? Were they on the floor you managed to enter? Wouldn’t it be interesting to see if you could find them? I remember you said you will make sure nobody ever goes there again after you visited it The 200 level of the mine. It was probably closer to 30 miners. They died in a collapse, meaning under a bunch of rock and dirt. So I don't think we'd see the bodies. When the accident happened a lot of people tried to rescue them but couldn't, so I don't really want to go digging around to disturb them.
Here is an article that mentions it:
https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-2006-oct-08-me-then8-story.html
"Cerro Gordo’s deadliest mine disaster struck in the early 1870s when a cave-in killed at least eight and as many as 35 Chinese miners. They were mining in limestone below the 200-foot level and failed to shore up the tunnel with timber, former Cerro Gordo mining foreman Fred Fisher told a Times reporter in 1950. Their bodies were never recovered."
How are the goats doing? Love your videos! Goats are good! They're getting bigger and expanding their territory around the town. I'd like to train them to free roam and come back to a bell or something. But haven't nailed that yet...
Doubt he's still here but perhaps someone else can answer this: What is the legality regarding appointing yourself mayor, writing your own town constitution that allows you to hold the offices of mayor, secretary, etc etc, at the same time, and then create city wide ordinances that are favorable to your life style? You know? I'm still here! Where am I going? Not too much else going on Sunday in a ghost town haha. I think the county still has some jurisdiction over a lot of that, but I could try. I've also watched a documentary on 'sovereign nations' where they basically declare themselves their own nation within a different country. But you raise a good point and one I should look into more.
Do you ever hope to make money out of this town? i.e. maybe the bare minimum you'll need to survive? Or are you looking to live completely without money at some point (from the land etc.)? I hope eventually the town covers it's own expenses (and mine). But I didn't get into this to make tons of money.
Was your town ever on the show ghost adventures? If so do you think it’s haunted? It was! I actually sleep in the room they think is haunted by two children ghosts.
I don't think it's 'haunted'. Is there spirits or paranormal activity? Maybe. But if so, I think they're more curious than anything...
This is great! Good for you! I remember seeing this for sale at one point. Questions ( sorry if they have already been asked)... 1. Does Amazon deliver there/do you get mail? 2. What kind of wildlife is out there ( lizards? Snakes?) 3. Are you finding lots of photos to guide your restoration? Again...I’m so glad someone bought it who is interested in restoring it. I’m going to check out your videos. 1. No! I have a PO box in Lone Pine, which is a little over an hour away. 2. Bobcats, rabbits, birds. Not too many snakes because of elevation. 3. Yes, luckily there are quite a few photos of the town at its peak
How do the stars look at night? Insane. You can see the Milky Way, almsot every star.
This doesn't do it justice, but is a photo I took this winter...https://www.instagram.com/p/B-YQ7Tag39a/
Brent, huge fan and I’ve watched all the YouTube videos and can’t wait to see Cerro Gordo with my own eyes one day! What are your plans for exploring the mine? I saw you explored the 200 level but are there any other spots in the mine that people have not seen since the mine was active? Awesome, thank you for watching! There are a few areas that have been closed off for a long time. The one that is most interesting to me is called the "Omega Tunnel." It may actually connect to the 200 level from the outside. But the portal into it is collapsed big time. I've tried digging it out, and Robert even used 10 sticks of dynamite to try to open portal, but it's really collapsed. But it holds my imagination and I hope I can get into it one day...

I can’t wait to see the day you get in there! If you’ve ever heard of or been familiar with FPV systems, that may be a way to send an RC truck through a small hole to explore ahead for you. (Finding the right radio frequency to propagate through the mine also helps) I’m out in Los Angeles and when I make my way up to Cerro Gordo one day I’ll bring some FPV camera stuff for you to check out. Keep chipping away at that portal though! (Pun intended) Will do! Thank you. I'll look into those more too.
What makes an abandoned town "an important part of history"? Cerro Gordo is the reason Los Angeles is what Los Angeles is today. It shaped California. It was the largest producer of silver for the state and an important part of mining history. It's just been overlooked for a long time.
Do people often come over from the back way into town? From the racecourse or teakettle junction in Death Valley? A decent amount. If weather is good, and the weekend, maybe 4 people a day?
The issue is when people come up the main road in a vehicle that barely made it up and think they're going to take the back road to Death Valley, or even worse, that they're going to take the Salt Tram road. Have you every taken that road? It's not a joke.
After getting a YouTube recommendation, I binge watched all your videos on Sunday and thought to myself "this guy should do an AMA". Synchronicity! Were you able to connect with the man who left a comment saying he was a previous caretaker in the 80s? It would be fun to hear what stories he has to offer! Oh wow, I've never seen that comment until now! Thank you for calling that out.
Are you looking to start a business like the Old west town in New Zealand had/has https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/old-west-replica-town-sale-scli-intl/index.html Is that your end game? how you raised the capital? or just for shits and giggles? EDIT: I just followed links in the CNN story I linked, and they link to YOU!! haha haha. Awesome
Will you have buzzfeed unsolved stay overnight there? I’d like to see more footage of what’s been caught on tape They had me do a little video earlier this year. I'd love to invite them up if they'd come...
Wow thats in the middle of no where. Any incentives to get people to move there? I suppose the silver is all gone if the town was ghosted? Silver vein apparently is lost. I don't necessarily want people to move here. Just visit for the weekend or so. I think the middle of nowhere nature will attract people to unwind for a bit and experience the history and natural beauty here...
Ever plan on trying to pull more gold out of any of the mines? You said in another comment you're always exploring them. *silver! Maybe, who knows. They apparently lost the vein and there isn't enough left to make it financially viable. But you never know
Have you thought about mining silver? Just for fun? I'd like to refine small batches of the ore still here to make jewelry or something for the town...
Are there tailings piles around the mines? Have you found any interesting mineral specimens in the mines or otherwise? Yeah! Huge tailing piles. I just went through them Friday for a while looking for rocks. Found a bunch of galena (which is what they were mining here), smithsonite, turquoise, and some other stuff...
the below is a reply to the above
Awesome! Would love to see some over on rockhounds! Would you ever consider allowing access to the piles? I greatly appreciate the people who are generous to allow collecting on their property. (Though I can certainly understand why a lot of people do not, some folks just don't know how to behave) I live in NC and have not yet been west but I hope to some day soon! I let people come. There is a Gem & Mineral Society in Lone Pine and they did their 20th annual dig up here this past weekend. I have an appreciation for rocks that is growing now that I have the town...
Been loving the videos. Any sketchy things happen on the 200 level we didn’t see? My condolences to the american hotel. How big of a challenge will the delivery of rebuild materials be? The 200 was really weird. I filmed all that on my iPhone where usually I'd use my GoPro or Sony. Both of those were dead (I had just filmed a different video), so I used the iPhone. So whenever I saw something, I had to consciously think to take out phone and record. I didn't always do that because I was so in the moment taking everything in. There was a lot more dynamite in the area where I talk about dynamite. But just didn't think it was interesting to show 5 minutes of just dynamite.
Getting supplies up here is tough. That is the logistical challenge I'm thinking about right now. We need to get a loader and/or backhoe up here, but you can trailer it up. So we have to walk it up the mountain, which will take a whole day and who knows how much fuel...
the below is a reply to the above
How’s the water situation? Pump back running? Really great for the towns people to help get that going for ya. I’d freak out in the elevator. And in the mine in general knowing there’s 32 souls down there. Every noise would have me on edge. Can’t wait to visit. Pump was running, but it stopped yesterday again. So we're going to go back down this week to see why that is happening. Hopefully it's something easy to fix...
The cage definitely is freaky. Even after being down it a few times...

2020.11.25 15:12 StormCoffeeCat Cameras house for hidden my

People:
Karen: karen
Me: me

Background:
I live in a small seaside town. There are many back alley behind the houses, which are a little sketchy, but I can use them to cut a 1 hour journey into a half hour journey. I have to access my bike shed in teh alley behind my house, On this day, I was in the back alley behind my house with my bike.
Story:
I was taking my bike down the back lane, and I see this old woman. Doesn't look like a karen at all, just looks like a grandma. As I keep going down the lane, however, she starts shouting at me. I instantly recognized her as a karen because I have spent most of my year on this subreddit. I'm a really nice kid, but I have a really hot head. As she approaches me I say "what the fu** are you doing?" in an irritated voice. She says "You're buying drugs, give them to me." I have NO idea why she thought I was buying drugs. It's a sketchy alley, sure, but it wasn't dark at all, and there was no-one else around. "Why the fu** do you think I'm buying drugs? I'm literally going to put my bike away, you can see me riding my bike." She does NOT like this, and says "I don't believe you, take off your shoes, and empty your pockets and bag." I say "Fu** no! I'm not taking my shoes off for a start, the ground's really wet, and the alley is covered in broken glass! And anyway, do you have a search warrant?" Then karen says "Of course I have a search warrant, so give me your bag!" Now I see what this is about. She wants my phone. Which, by the way, I don't even have on me, but I guess she thought it was in the bag. "OK" I say. "Show me your search warrant." karen replies "NO! GIVE ME YOUR BAG!!!!" I'm pretty exhausted of this by now, so I say "Go away, you old karen. I'm not giving you my bag!" She says "Fine! Where do you live? I want to talk to your parents!" Me wanting to see this karen get absolutely destroyed, show her where I live, and when my Dad opens the door, she starts shouting "YOUR CHILD ASSAULTED ME AND IS CARRYING DRUGS!" My Dad actually believes her, but I convince him to check the security footage we've had recording the alley from our tree. (We had a security camera hidden in our tree because a few years ago our bike shed was broken into and we had a £1000 bike stolen.) My Dad checks the security footage, and, whaddya know, he sees the old karen harassing me. He tells the karen to "GET THE FU** OUT!" and we thought we had heard the end of it. But know, of course she actually went and called the police. The police show up with karen, and the officer says to my Dad "Sir, we have heard that your son assaulted this lady and is in possession of illegal drugs." My Dad gets me to explain what happened while he get the security footage. The officer doesn't believe me, naturally (who would be more likely to trust, a 12 year boy or a fully grown and a bit shrunk adult), but when my Dad shows the officer the security footage, he understands what happened, and says to the karen "What is your name?" The karen gives what must have been a real name, because he finds that she already has a record of wasting police time. He says to the karen "Please come with me, ma'am, you already had a warning on your record and so you will have to come to the police station." The karen then screams in her highest, loudest, shrillest voice "BUT HE ASSAULTED MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HE SHOULD GIVE ME HIS BAG AT LEAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Then she actually hits me in the face! Not just a slap either, an actual punch! She made my lip bleed. The officer just handcuffs her and forces her into the police car. I'm going to press charges.
TL;DR: If you're going to be a karen and make up some cock-and-bull story, make sure there are no security cameras around first.

Sam Adams Guide Chapter 3 - Buwwito, AIDS, FierceDeityLynx Pastebin entry: https://pastebin.com/QwpPkVUA

Mr. Adams' Guide to Practical Fluffs - Part 3 by Oculus
featuring art by Buwwito, AIDS and FierceDeityLynx

“Wewcom, kind mistah, to ABAP!”
A large, fairly strong Marcusmaximus fluffy usher opens the door for you, as you enter the Advocacy for Biotoy Adoption as Pets (ABAP) building. You have made an appointment with Mr Adams previously, and he has agreed to meet you. However, and because of some business negotiations, a formal meeting had to be arranged. Mr Adams has currently scheduled your next meeting with him between two high profile business negotiations, so, and in order to free up some time, the appointment had to be scheduled under the guise of “discussing ABAP business.” You are currently dressed formally, in a business suit, complete with tie and leather shoes.
As you step into the ABAP building, you see various people, with their fluffies, walking to the different sectors on the ground floor. There's a fluffy cafe nearby, as well as a small veterinarian clinic. There is even a shelter for people to pick rescued and rehabilitated fluffies from all corners.
~Buwwito~
And at the centre of it all stands a statue of a fluffy, hugging a bunny.

Sheila (Artist:Buwwito)
You speak to the receptionist. She informs you that Mr Adams will come down to meet you at the foyer. As you wait in the centre of the foyer, you decided to take a good look at the statue. You can recognize its breed. It is a Buwwito. Buwwito's are a bit larger and more rotund than Carpdime's and are suggested to be one of the Type 1 fluffies descended from the lines like the Marcusmaximus. You recognize it because, you had a Buwwito just like it.
Though the figure is of metal, you could see the genuine concern and anguish of the Buwwito, as it hugs its stuffed toy, now forever immortalized in gold-plated cast-iron. The detail is painstaking, as you noticed the simulated "tear" and “cotton” fluff coming out of the statue of the stuffed Bunny, and the Buwwito crying, hoping that its immortal hug will fix the visage of a stuffed rabbit toy. The exhibit is covered within a glass cube and has cameras surrounding it - one too many abusers who had nothing better to do had attempted to deface the statue and had to be deterred by security rather forcefully.
You are in awe of it because, you wonder to yourself, why such a statue of such a simple moment? Why even make a statue of a fluffy hugging a damaged stuffed toy?
"That was my Buwwito."
You turn around and see Mr. Adams. Like you, he’s well-dressed. He’s a little tired, and you can see the eye bags forming from a sleepless night. But, ever the optimist, he retains his youthful smile. You shake his hand and greet him. And then, you ask him.
“Why such a statue?”
Mr Adams smiles, as he reminisces.
“Sheila was a Buwwito I had many years ago.
I had Sheila when I had my first daughter.” But you’re not even married, you remarked in your thoughts rather snidely.
“Fluffies had only been out for about half a decade, and she wanted one very badly. I remember there was a day when my daughter had torn her stuffed bunny and just threw It away. I bought the stuffed bunny for her for Christmas, and within a month, she already tore. However, because Sheila was also fond of the bunny, she started hugging it. She kept saying
“Huuhuu! Stuffy fwend haff owwies! Nee’ gib huggies! Huu!”
That image stuck in my head.”
“Why?”
“I find fluffies to be endearing. I love fluffies. Some of them may seem incredibly stupid, and are overly dependent on their human masters, but, when you take good care of them, they have the kindest of hearts. Yes, Sheila couldn’t fix that bunny. But she wanted to. And even when my daughter wanted to throw it away, she still saw the value in it.
So when I had the stuffed bunny fixed, Sheila was ecstatic. And the bunny lasted longer under Sheila than it did under my daughter.”
A team formed on Sam’s face. Taking out a handkerchief, he wiped it off, and maintained a brave composure as he said his closing line on her.
“Sheila had it until the day she died.”
Feeling a little moved, you interjected, “Buwwitos really are something, huh?”
“They are.”

Buwwitoes at play (Artist:Buwwito)

Mr Adams keeps walking, as he takes you to the fluffmart on the first floor. While walking along the way, you glimpse various artworks of fluffies. You eye a picture of a Buwwito family at play. The stallion, an alicorn, is chasing his Earthie special friend along with his various foals, who too are trying to catch the mother. While admiring the painting, Mr Adams feels its appropriate to chime a little fact.
“There aren’t many Buwwitos left in the world.”
“Really?”
“Yes. They are a well-known breed, but only a handful were distributed by Hasbio back in the day. As such, a lot of Buwwitos that exist amongst breeders and in the wild are very watered down. A Buwwito you currently own is most likely a Carpdime or a Marcusmaximus.” Mr Adams sighs a bit, as he continues, “Those two lines have also been discontinued.”
“Is that always the case, that a line of fluffies would be discontinued by Hasbio while they introduce new ones?”
“Seems to be. There’s a reason why no new pure Carpdime or Marcusmaximus has been released by Hasbio to the public in recent memory.”
You raise an eyebrow. “For a person who claims to be independent of Hasbio, you seem to know A LOT about the fluffies they directly genetic engineer.”
Mr Adams gives you a vague grin. It seems almost sinister. But, and due to your friendship to him, you can’t help but feel its genuine. “I have my sources.”
The two of you enter the fluffmart, and see the various breeds that ABAP has on sale. In the past, Fluffmarts have included options to amputate and turn store-bought fluffies into pillowfluffs, but ABAP has actively campaigned against the practise. Most Fluffmarts now, especially those run by ABAP, do not have pillowfluffs.
“I’ve never seen this many breeds of fluffies before!” you gasp in awe.
“There’s a lot I have to show you,” Mr Adams smiles, as he notes, “We have currently estimate at least a 100 different breeds of Fluffy Ponies had been created directly from Hasbio over the past decade. And the number may grow, even if they may discontinue some older breeds.
But I’m not here to show you all of them. I’m in this fluffmart just to show you one last little fact about Buwwitos.”
Mr Adams takes you to the Microfluffy aisle. There, you see various fluffies in little nutrigel enclosures, creating pathways through the nutrigel. You also see some sturdier microfluffies in little cages, acting like hamster-sized versions of the fluffies you know. Sam takes you to an area within the aisle, that has a breed of micofluffies at a price higher than the ones you had just see.

Buwwito's Guide to Microfluffies Part 1 (Artist:Buwwito)
“These,” he introduces, “are Buwwito Microfluffs!”
“I know what Microfluffs are-”
“Yes my dear friend, but Buwwitos were the first line of Microfluffs that were released! Microfluffs were an evolution of the earlier Toy Fluffy line of miniature fluffies that Hasbio created with the Coalheart breed.” ( >>9062 )
“So you’re saying that Buwwitos were the first microfluffs made?”
“Yes. But even then, the genepool is a bit watered down,” bemoans Sam. “Trying to recreate the original Buwwito microfluff is difficult, even with extensive breeding and engineering. Plus, it is not really good to have to pure a pedigree. It’s a reason why Buwwito microfluffs are so rare. And, sooner or later, they might go extinct.”
~
You want to keep gawking at the Buwwito Microfluffs, but Mr Adams urges to move quickly.
As the two of you move, you felt obliged what breed that Sam wanted to show you next, and why he couldn’t just show it to you in the mart.
“Well, today, we’re going to look at three breeds connected to the popular Carpdime breed. The Buwwito breed is often seen as an influence on Carpdime breeds mainly through cross-breeding. The next two breeds we’re going to see were developed from the Carpdime breed.”
“Yeah, okay, but where are we going exactly?”
“We’re going to Sweden.”
Raising an eyebrow at the incredulity of the idea, you ask “Why Sweden?”
“For the next breed, I feel it makes sense to go to its country of origin.”
Mr Adams takes you to a large glass elevator and presses a white button with the number “13” on it.
“We’re going to the 13th floor.”
“What’s there? A helipad?”
“No, that’s on the 30th floor.”
Upon arriving at the 13th floor, Mr Adams guides you, down the corridor. You take a quick peak at the labels placed on the rooms. “Food toxicity review – No Fluffies Allowed”. “Fluffy Polymer Research – Shear with care”. This had to be an R&D section of ABAP. Mr Adams directs you to a room that says “Energy-Matter Transfer Research”, with another label below it that reads “Now using: Fluffsplosion.”
Stepping inside, you see various men working on various equipment and computers, as well as a spectrometer. Nearby, you see a few carboard boxes. They’re all sealed. However, these cardboard boxes are all wired to a door at the centre of the room. Bizarrely enough, it’s a normal looking wooden door.
“We’re going to be using that door.”
“How exactly are we going to go to Sweden through this door?”
“Just step into the damn door.”
As you walk towards the door, you hear Mr Adams say, “Fire up the spaghetti machine!”
A bald-headed scientist flicks a switch. Some of the boxes rumble. Out of one of them you hear the unmistakable sound of an excited fluffy saying “SKETTI!”
You grasp the handle. You lower it. Sweat is dripping down from your forehead.
You open the door.
~
You can’t believe your eyes.
You ARE in Sweden. You are right in the middle of the busy streets of Stockholm.
“How… Wha… what the fuck…”
“Welcome to Sweden!” says Mr Adams, very genially. He has stepped through the door and has just closed it.
You reached for the door handle in an attempt to get back to the ABAP Lab you just came from. However, upon opening the door, you only see the interior of an antiques shop. Feeling rather exasperated, you confront Sam.
“EXPLAIN THIS!”
“All in due time, my friend, all in due time.”
He whistles loudly. On cue, as if the whole thing was planned, a car with the ABAP logo on its side drives up, towards the two of you.
Mr Adams says to driver “Take us to Haddockspike Manor.”
~
The two of you are walk towards Haddockspike Manor. A rather luxurious looking residence, the grounds are accompanied by some magnificent lawns and gardens. However, from the distance, you feel like it’s the sort of residence that doesn’t fit in a country like Sweden.
“That’s not a very Swedish looking house.”
“Oh, and what do you expect a Swedish mansion to look like?”
Mr Adams laughs, as he explains. “This house is modelled after the central section of the Château de Cheverny, a manor in France. The French original is much larger, but the owner of this residence had chosen not to include the outer wings of the original building.”
“Just who owns this house?”
“Captain Marlin. He’s a retired shipping magnate, as well as the Head of ABAP in this region.”
“Marlin? That’s not a very Swedish name.”
“Well, his real name is quite long, so he prefers to be called Marlin for short.
Anyway, we are here because we are going to meet the AIDS which is unique to Sweden.”

~AIDS~

Upon hearing the name, images of the human immunodeficiency virus, and the much-dreaded acquired immunodeficiency syndrome flood your mind.“I’m very sorry to hear.”
Mr. Adam sighs, as he shakes his head. Angry, not at you, but rather with himself for causing the confusion.
“I meant to say that he owns an AIDS breed.”
“You’re still puzzled.
“That’s a very odd name for a breed.”
“I know right? Like, can you imagine going up to to someone and saying “I have a pet AIDS!” Or going to a pet shop, seeing a nice fluffy for your child, go home, and surprise your daughter with the message “I’m going to give you an AIDS!” for your birthday!”
“Hasbio seems to come up with the DUMBEST names for their fluffy breeds.”
Mr Adams sighs. “Its very possible that AIDS is an acronym for something. But to date, we don’t know what it is. The only person who knows is the Swedish bio-engineer at Hasbio who keeps producing the fluffy breed. He’s been rather secretive.”
~
"Festering fetlocks! Sam! Nice to see you!"
The Captain is a tall man, with very clear Aryan features of blonde hair and blue eyes. In addition to that, he possessed a thick beard, unshaven with age. As he grasps your hand, you can feel the strength acquired from a lifetime of adventuring and daring on the high seas. In the midst of these introductions, a red fluffy comes into the living room to greet Sam and you
"Huwwo mistahs! Huwwo Sam!"
"Hello Erik," smiles Mr. Adams, as he introduces you to the fluffy as well. You take a good look at Erik. Remembering how Type 1 fluffies like the MarcusMaximus and Buwwito look, this fluffy looks almost identical to the Carpdime fluffies. Except, perhaps a little less fat.
"Erik here," narrates Mr Adams, "is an AIDS." He sighs as he says out, very loudly, "God DAMN it. Its just too weird!" Everybody in the room laughs from the joke. You take this moment to interject.

AIDS foals (Artist:AIDS)
"He really looks like a Carpdime from up close!"
"That's because they were bred from Carpdimes!" Marlin said this with a joyful boast. Mr Adams is about to take out his smartphone, but, before he could, Captain Marlin takes out his own tablet. Mr Adams lets it slide, but you remark to yourself that Mr Adams has some competition here. The Captain shows you photos of the AIDS breed foals and fillies. They are all lacking fur, and thus, look remarkably similar to Carpdime foals.
"Some say AIDS are literally Carpdimes, but I prefer to think of them as an offshoot of the Carpdime. Or rather, an attempt to recreate the Carpdime in Sweden. But Hasbio had imported Carpdimes into Sweden eventually, so the lineage is not certain. Whatever the case, the similarity is so painstaking that we call AIDS the ‘Carpdimes of Sweden’".
"What makes them any different from the Carpdime breed then?" you openly wonder.
“Well, for one, the AIDS breed is still being produced in Sweden, whereas the Carpdime line has stopped production. Any Caprdimes you see today are mostly from breeders who bred the Carpdimes that were released by Hasbio up until a few years ago. However, since its inception, Hasbio has kept producing new AIDS fluffies fresh from their labs, though in limited quantities. In addition to that, the Hasbio-released AIDS fluffies have been restricted mostly to Sweden. You could say it is our National breed."
The Captain proceeds to sit down on a chair. Erik lays down besides his master. A butler comes in with a bottle of whiskey to serve himself. He takes a moment to pour a drop whiskey in a bowl, for Erik to drink. ( >>55734)
"I like to think that the AIDS breeds are like a more diligent Carpdime. Carpdimes may be popular, but they eat too much, and they aren't as loyal. Also, they tend to develop negative traits, such as abandoning their young if they do not have a nice smell or colour. In contrast, AIDS are very accommodating."

Shmoo finds Esmerelda (Artist:AIDS)
The Captain looks to the ceiling, as he starts to reminisce. "I remember there was this one fluffy who had found a foal, abandoned in the street. Shmoo, I think was his name. He raised the little filly like as though she was his sister. The filly grew up well and it is that sort of foster care and adoption that you don't see in many fluffy breeds.

Shmoo and Esmerelda (Artist:AIDS)
They also have a lot of loyalty. AIDS fluffies usually do not run away from their home, and, if anything, will be the first to defend their home should a feral herd attempt a lawn invasion. Of course, they will be outnumbered, but that kind of loyalty is very doglike. Reminds me a bit of the Waggytail."( >>42167 )
"But surely, because they have similarities to the Carpdime breed, that they would develop smarties?"
"Yes, they do develop Smarties, but even AIDS smarties are a bit more unusual that smarties from other fluffy breeds. Granted, you still get your typical lawn invasions from particularly aggressive feral herds, but then you have this one story.
I remember this one Smartie wanted to get food for its herd during Christmas so, it approached a family for food for its herd. The family, seeking to mock the Smartie, made a deal that it would give their leftover food to the Smartie, provided the Smartie was their entertainment for Christmas. They were a bit cruel to him, but at least they didn't torture him. However, they kept their end of the deal, and the smartie was allowed to go back to its herd, with enough Christmas goodies to last the rest of winter." ( >>43574 >>43577 >>43578)
"That sounds amazing," you gasp. "I usually don't hear of Smarties being very altruistic or self-sacrificing."
"Thats whats makes the AIDS breeds special. Even if they're descended from the Carpdime, they're not quite like the Carpdime. Its also part of our belief that fluffies can develop a level of altruism and empathy unseen in other fluffy breeds."
"Speaking of Christmas," Mr Adams said, while getting out of his seat, "you do know why I came here today right?"
"Oh yes, thats right, Sam."As Marlin says this, he passes a slip of paper to Sam.
"That's where she is currently in Berlin."
"Good. Is the Door in your house ready?
The Captain has a slightly annoyed look on his face "Bilious of abyssal abusers, do I have to fire up that infernal contraption for you again?"
You turn to Sam as you ask with a little incredulity, 'Wait, he has a teleporter here too? Just how many of these teleporters do you have?"
"Not many, my friend. And actually there's a little bit of danger with using these doors."
The Captain guides you and Sam up the staircase of his manor. He brings you to a room. You could tell that it was previously a luxurious bedroom, perhaps for a guest, but it has now been converted into a makeshift lab of sorts. You see the same apparatus that you saw back at the ABAP headquarters, but with less personnel involved. Like at the ABAP building, there is one scientist working at the machine, but instead of observing the screens, he is busy observing a little pendulum he’s holding with his right hand.
And the same cardboard boxes are there. All connected by wiring to a similar door at the centre of the room. One of them wiggles and gives a light squeak. Not a mousey squeak, but it is definitively a squeak from a genetically engineered equine with a lot of fuzzy hair.
"Is that-"
Mr Adams quickly grasps your lips in a rather uncharacteristically desperate attempt to keep your mouth closed. You are surprised he would resort to such manhandling, but then he whispers something in your ear.
"Don't say a thing a thing idiot! Otherwise you'll get all us all in trouble!"
The scientist proceeds to flick some switches, leading the boxes to rumble as you once again hear the unmistakable sound of "SKETTI!" In a very brief moment, Sam says to the Captain "Say hi to Pinpin for me!" before he grabs you by the collar, and barges through the door. Within a single moment, you have left the confines of a recreation of expensive French Manor somewhere in Sweden, and have instantaneously travelled, thousands of miles, to the bustling streets of Berlin.
"Godammit Sam! Why did you do that for?"
"Sorry about that mate, have to do this quickly or some onlooker will get curious about the door. Also, the effect only lasts a while."
"Those were fluffies, weren't they?"
Looking behind, and opening the door to make sure that it does not lead back into Captain Marlin's manor, Sam nods.
"Yes. It is part of our research into Type 2 Fluffies. However, not all Fluffies have this ability, and there's a fair amount of dangers. Not to mention, its one way: the door can randomly bring you to a specific location, but only briefly."

~FierceDeityLynx~
~A tribute to Plum, A Loving Mother~

"Alright, so we're in Germany now. I take it you finished talking about AIDS."
With a sigh of relief, mainly due to the unfortunate choice of name, Sam nods his head.
"Yes. And we're here to check out the German offshoot of the Carpdime breed - the FierceDeityLynx."
"Ah yes, that same weird name you mentioned last time."
Sam shrugs, as he continues "I have this theory that Hasbio engineers may be members of some online furry community. Maybe. There are a lot of fluffies with fairly normal or descriptive names, but a name like FierceDeityLynx, or FDL, really gives off that vibe." He proceeds to take out a slip of paper, as he notices the address. He then looks up and sees the street name. "What luck. The address we are looking for is not too far from here."
As the two of you walk down the street, a thought crosses your mind, as you say "I can understand taking me all the way to Sweden, since AIDS aren't as prolific back home, but we have plenty of FDL's back home."
"Ah yes, but we are looking for one particular fluffy of the FierceDeityLynx breed. A one of a kind. Also, only Germany has a particular morph of the FDL breed that you will not see back home." ( >> 49271 )
After some walking, the two of you reach a shop that says "Käthe Wohlfahrt". From a distance, and even though its springtime, you can see that shop sells all manner of Christmas memorabilia and trinkets Just adjacent to it, is an ABAP licensed Fluffmart.
"Speak of the devil. Looks like Hilda did my work for me."
The two of you enter the ABAP fluffmart. There you are greeted by a blonde, rather buxom woman, wearing a pink wool sweater, and denim jeans. Upon seeing Sam, she displays an excitement at seeing an old friend.
"Guten tag, Herr Adams!"
"Guten Tag, mein Fräulein!"
Sam goes up to give her a hug, and trade kisses. For a brief moment, you feel like as though Sam gave her a pat on the back. Or to be precise, a squeeze on the bum. Yup, Classic Sam Adams. As Hilda introduces herself to you, Sam explains, "Hilda here, is one of our ABAP representatives in Germany. She works throughout the EU, but she's mostly focused on Germany."
He then turns back to her, as he notes, "Hilda, I didn't expect you to open up a ABAP fluffmart all the way here!"
"Well, Sam, you said that you were looking for Plum, she just happens to be next door at that particular Käthe Wohlfahrt. We got word about her presence not too long ago, and it just so happened to be that this space here was for rent. I filed the papers, and ABAP was able to open up a fluffmart here. It is also a good thing there isn't a competing fluffmart from Hasbio or Filly in the area."
"Filly?" you ask
"Long story.
Hilda, my friend here wants to learn about FierceDeityLynx's. Does this store have any?"
"Or we have plenty, Herr Adams. But you know that most of the FDLs we have now are from breeders, ever since Hasbio Deutscheland GmbH discontinued the breed in 2017?"
"Ja, I am aware, mein fraulein."
"Herr Adams, if I may, instead of showing your friend the average FierceDeityLynx, how about I introduce him to the more unique morph of the FDL breed that you will not get back in your fatherland?"
"Oooh, so you want to show us the munchkins?"
"Ja. A breeder came in today with a fresh batch."
Hilda departs for a minute to go to a restricted area of the mart. She then brings outs a cage holding two to three munchkin fluffies. You instantly recognize their one defining feature - their shorter legs.

Munchkin Fluffies (Artist:FierceDeityLynx)
"These are like munchkin cats!" ( >>48987 )
"Ja! But these fluffies are used to their shorter legs. They were developed by Hasbio as a safer and less cruel alternative to the pillowfluff. They are pretty much similar to the average fluffy in every way, except that they exhibit a happier disposition general, and have less chances of becoming smarties. Munchkins were designed for a purely domestic lifestyle, and thus, do not ever become feral."
"With such short legs, how do they reproduce?"
"Well, my freund, you have to help them!" she says rather suggestively. As she continues. "The idea is that you hold the munchkin stallion up and help bring him towards the female. Either that, or you get the mare artificially inseminated." ( >>49039 )
"Goodness gracious, it is like these things were literally made not to reproduce naturally."
"Ja, but they don't mind. Like all other fluffies, even if a munchkin gets lonely, if you keep them adequately busy or entertained, they will never ever feel lonely."
"It seems to be that the munchkins are very much like the toy fluffies and microfluffs."
"They are something within that line of thinking, mein freund. The difference is that munchkins are much larger than those miniature fluffies and, as I mentioned earlier, they were developed as an alternative to the pillowfluff, which is a fairly violent and cruel way to treat a fluffy.
Alas, though, Hasbio stopped releasing FierceDeityLynx fluffies after a while, and with it, also terminated the munchkin programme. Any FDLs and munchkins we have today are totally reliant on approved breeders."
Liking the novelty of the munchkin fluffies, you feel inclined to purchase one. "I really like these fluffies. Can I buy one?"
"Ah, nein. I mean, you could buy them, but they're not allowed to be brought outside of Deutscheland. You could, however, purchase a normal FDL. And I think it is time I introduced you to one."
~
"Why are we going to that Christmas shop there?" you openly wonder, as both Sam and Hilda escort you out of the ABAP fluffmart.
"Well, according to Hilda, the FDL that I wanted to meet is here. And it is a very special FDL."
"Whats so special about her?"
Sam takes a deep breath, as he begins to narrate the story. ( >>49172 )
"It is rather sordid tale, but there was a time when I was visiting a friend's house in the Black Forest of Germany. That day, he had a lawn invasion by a particular violent Smartie and his herd. I tried to dissuade him, but my friend was a hunter and, with his hunting rifle, killed the smartie, as well as his toughies. The mares, with their foals on them, ran off.
He ran after to them, perhaps to finish what he started, when he found this poor brown mare not far from his house. She was bruised, bloodied, and heavily beaten. There were signs that she had been recently violated by the Smartie and his toughies. He was going to put her out of her misery when she weakly said,
"Pwease kine mistah..... hewp fwuffs babbehs."
I intervened. It turned out that the reason why she was beaten up by her herd was because she had hidden her progeny away from the Smartie, who was about to violate them. ( >>49580 >>49714 ) Feeling a sense of pity for her, my friend agreed with me to take her to the nearest ABAP, where she was treated for her wounds, and her young taken care of. And that was the last I saw of her - I had to return home at the time."
"But her story does not end there, Sam. While being taken care off, a man one day came in, asking to purchase Plum here, and her foals. We were not keen at first, but we relented. However, Sam was very interested in finding Plum again, with that memory of her fresh in his mind. So, we combed Germany, based on the description of the man who purchased Plum that day. Then one day, Johann found him."
"Whose Johann?" you whisper to Sam.
"That's Marlin's real name, One of it."
"And it turns out, he was an owner of that Käthe Wohlfahrt. She has become a sort of mascot for that particular shop."
The three of you step into the shop. There, you are greeted by a jolly Berliner, dressed in the manner of Kriss Kringle. Next to him is a brown fluffy, wearing a bobble hat. The fluffy was busy helping the Berliner carry some figurines and boxes around the shop.
“Guten Tag, Nicholas!”
"Ah guten tag Hilda! And I see Herr Adams is with you!"
"Huwwo fwens! Mewwy Kwissmass!"
The fluffy waves to you rather genuinely. She is rather plump, with two very apparent horse breasts. It is likely that is still lactating, as fluffy mares are able to lactate even after giving birth. ( >>49228 )
"I see Plum is doing fine."
"Ja, she is Herr Adams. I heard about her story from Hilda here, and I was reminded of a brown munchkin I once owned, who died of old age. I felt sorry for Plum and wanted to raise her and her children well. But of course, her children grew up way too fast."
"What do you mean by way too fast?"
As you asked that question, Sam takes the opportunity to whip out his smartphone.
"There's one BIG difference between Carpdimes and FDLs, despite looking so similar. FDLs age VERY rapidly."

Lifecycle of a FiercedeityLynx fluffy (Artist:FierceDeityLynx)
He shows you an image of a Carpdime ageing, from birth to being a foal within a month. He then shows you the age of a FDL newborn within the same time period. Unlike the Carpdime, the FDL reaches adulthood within a month.
"T-thats fast." you remark.
"Aye. A bit too fast in fact."
"Ja, and that is why two of Plum's children, Quin and Blue were sold off. They grew up quite fast and, after a while, expressed a desire to see the world. So I brought them to another ABAP shop, and had them sold. As far as I know, they have happy owners now."
"But what of the third. What of Hazle?"
As Sam asks this, a fluffy, with a light, orange colour, comes into the shop, carrying a bundle on her back. As she comes beside Plum, she lowers, her legs, and lets Plum remove the package from her. She then hugs Plum.
"Mummah!"
"Babbeh!"
The Berliner smiles, as he dotes on the mother fluffy and her child.
"Hazle could not bring herself to be separated from her mother, so I kept her here. As such, Plum has never been lonely, as one of her children is always by her side, and is helping me run this shop.”
As he says this, Hilda feels inclined to chime in.

Plum, a Loving Mother (Artist:FierceDeityLynx)
"Aside from helping out at this Christmas shop, Plum has also been helping to raise the FDL foals that come into the ABAP fluffmart. Because she is still lactating, she provides milk, as well as motherly care to the foals we receive, and she nurses them until they are old enough to be sold. She is one of a kind, and perhaps one of the best, and most loving mothers I have come across."
As Hilda says this, Hazle takes the moment to hug her mother again.
"Fwuffy wuv mummah! Mummah am bestest mummah in whowe wowl!"
As she says this, you look at Plum. She is smiling a bittersweet smile, as a tear drops from her eye.

2020.11.25 03:24 Itshallriseagain Hidden cameras for my house

The three of us just moved into a house mid 2020. I have a dog that is very anxious and does stupid things when I'm at work, so I put a camera in the bedroom. It only records when I'm away from home and when there is motion detected.
So today I get a notification on the app and check it to see her son is in our room patting the dog. I have never seen him in there before. When I look back at the footage I can see him eye the side table. He comes in a minute later and walks straight to the side table and rummages around. Six minutes later he comes back in and can see him looking towards a different wardrobe area but decides to go to the side table again, this time he lifts the jewelry box, has a rummage around and as he walks away slips something into this pocket.
I'm after advice about how to discuss it with his mum, who is very defensive of him. He has never done anything like this (well, how do I know now what he might have done), but he is a touchy subject already as I do time to time talk to her about how he does nothing around the house, and generally does a few minor things that irk me as I want to look after our house that we bought together. She normally gets mad at me when I discuss things I would encourage him to do. I just feel he should be doing more and it would help him learn how to be an adult (I have a couple of daughters who are a few years older but never had to deal with something like this).
I have to tell her right? Obviously. I do have the recordings. I suppose I should explain to her that I saw a notification come up for the dog so I saw this happen and show her the recordings.
I'm really concerned about the lack of trust of having him in our home when we are at work. He's on leave at the moment due to semester ending, so now I have someone I don't trust in my home. How do I convey this without causing a rift between her and me?
What should she do with him in response to what happened?
TL/DR: 16 year old step son clearly took something from his mum's jewelry box, it's recorded, how do I deal with telling the mum?
PS. Just so you know the camera is not hidden. In fact it's a big white camera with an obvious power cable running up the wall to a window sill that looks like a baby monitor and it's right by the jewelry box (that may give you an indication of the kid's intelligence).

The 33 Degrees of Eyes Wide Shut
FOREWORD
Since its 1999 release, Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut has been evaluated as a dissection of marriage and modern sexual relationships, a sub-textual critique of consumer culture, an indictment of hierarchical class structures and much more. At its functional surface level, it is typically graded as a sort of Rube Goldberg machine built out of dream-logic vignettes for use as a psychometric tool on the audience.
True, Eyes Wide Shut is all of those things. But this is not one of those analyses.
As much as I love Kubrick the Social Commentator, he has been given his huge due for many years and there is little left for me to say about him. No– It is Kubrick the Codemaker who interests me here.
For over two decades, fans of the film who choose to take it at anything more than face value have been transfixed by it’s layered complexity– a nebulous network of double-meanings, multi-purpose metaphors and hidden symmetrical concepts; a subterranean labyrinth of symbolism and veiled intertextual references that seem to number in the hundreds. It is a fertile Petri dish for conspiracy theory that perpetually walks the line of ambiguity, keeping those who try to decode it left in the dark.
This guide is for those fans. It is not an introductory companion to Eyes Wide Shut. If you are new to the film, this will hardly make sense to you and I recommend that you start somewhere else.
If you are a devotee of this film who has been baffled by it, or you were once ensnared by it’s mystifying tangles and have long since given up trying to decode it, please read on. I believe I have the answers that you have been looking for– or at least some of them.
As best I can tell from searching the web, I appear to be the first to be privy to this information apart from Kubrick himself. While putting it together, I was ethically hesitant to share what I had found, since I know Kubrick liked to stay tight-lipped about his films and let the viewer figure things out on their own. But ultimately, I think that (A) 21 years is a damn long time to have a secret hidden in a major Hollywood movie seen by millions, (B) the reveal of the secret will open Eyes Wide Shut up to re-evaluation and fairer criticism than it has historically received, and (C) There are still more things hidden in the movie. I need your help to find them.
So here we go. Welcome to the end of the rainbow.
At its heart, Eyes Wide Shut is a code with a cipher, and that cipher is the 33 Degrees of the Scottish Rite.
From a full description of the Degrees at https://web.mit.edu/dryfoo/Masons/Misc/SRdegrees.html :
“The Degrees of the Scottish Rite are one-act plays often staged with costume, scenery, special effects, and the full rigging of any production. Their purpose is to examine different philosophies, ancient religions, and systems of ethics. Through all of these, people have tried to answer certain universal questions. The Degrees of the Rite do not tell a person what he should think about these questions. Instead, they tell him about what great thinkers and civilizations of the past have thought, and they try to create a situation in which the candidate or Brother can gain insight. Agreeing with Socrates that the unexamined life is not worth living, the Rite helps with this self-examination by providing reference points.”
In Scottish Rite freemasonry, a mason progresses through 33 honorary stages, or degrees, by manifesting the virtues of the Rite. Each degree is associated with a set of moral or philosophical precepts. When he has spent sufficient time in a degree, the mason is inducted into the next, and is given a ceremonial masonic apron, which bears colours and symbols associated with that degree.
The Scottish Rite code in Eyes Wide Shut is far more encompassing than I anticipated when I started to uncover it. I’m still piecing many of the details together, but I have enough objective evidence to prove beyond all reasonable doubt that this code was deliberately included by Kubrick for reasons that should become relatively apparent.
The basic outline is that from the beginning of the film until the end, Bill Harford traverses all 33 of the Degrees of the Scottish Rite. Eyes Wide Shut is essentially a 32 act structure, ending at 33, where the educative associations of each Degree are encountered in chronological order, and provide a through-line and philosophical arc to the film. Whenever the next Degree is presented, it’s arrival is marked by hidden symbolism and Masonic colour schemes.
The Degrees in the film are also clearly delineated by their associated bodies: each body lines up with a distinctly segmented portion of the film. These are as follows:
The Lodge of Perfection (4° – 14°): This segment is from Ziegler’s party until the first arrival at Somerton.
The Chapter of the Rose Croix (15° – 18°): This segment is from the Somerton party, and goes through Alice telling her dream to the start of the next day. Technically, this is split into the “Third series” (two degrees at Somerton) and the “Fourth series” (2 degrees at dawn at the Harford house).
Council of Kadosh (19° – 30°): This segment goes from the start of the day after the Somerton party, when Bill starts revisiting the locations from the day before, up until his confrontation at Ziegler’s pool table.
The Consistory Degrees (31° – 33°): This segment goes from when Bill arrives home and confesses to Alice until the toy store at the end.
The Scottish Rite begins at the 4th degree so I’ll explain from there. I am still in the process of properly locating and unearthing most of the Degrees beyond the 8th, but I will still include some of the more obvious sequences from the second half of the film which cement my hypothesis beyond all doubt. Either way, there are probably a lot of things I have missed, so the game is still afoot.
Regarding the first three standard “Blue Lodge” masonry degrees (1° – 3°), these appear to be represented through the Harford family/household itself, in the opening scenes before the Ziegler party. That part will require a separate investigation, so I will give that it’s due analysis later.
I have found other amazing things outside of this Masonic arc, but let’s deal with this bombshell first and I’ll tackle them another time.
If you feel any of this is unconvincing, the most plainly self-evident of the degrees in the film are the 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th and the 25th, all of which immediately follow one another**. The 8th, and the 15th going into 16th are also fairly patent. They are the ones that made me sure of this.**
I would also recommend checking with your copy of the film rather than just view the screenshots I have taken, as they will not always do the justice to the scene in question.
Let me know what you reckon.
Discovery of The Code
Like most of the secrets of this movie, a hint as to the existence of the code was hiding in plain sight the entire time; this time in Ziegler’s rumpus room.
Pay attention to the dialogue:
Suppose I told you […] that everything that happened to you was staged“, says Ziegler (over a glass of 25 year old scotch,)
This describes Bill’s journey as echoing the staged morality plays of the Degrees of the Scottish Rite (as quoted in the description at the start of this analysis). Note that both Bill and Ziegler each specifically to the liquor as scotch; as in the Scottish Rite.
Now, if my rationale for this sounds flimsy or “reaching” to you, ask yourself: How come a big-shot like Ziegler doesn’t have a liquor cabinet? How come he has everything on a clustered table?
It’s because Kubrick wants us to see all the bottles.
The table contains exactly 33 bottles of scotch. Hence, The 33 Degrees of the Scottish Rite.
A quick note on the Degrees:
I have been mainly using a summary of the Degrees as a quick reference table to identify the appearance of the colours/symbols/philosophies of each degree. However, Eyes Wide Shut digs deeper than these summaries, and draws details from the actual text of the Degrees themselves.
Where appropriate, I may include such text from the original 1884 release, The Book of the Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry (or AASR for short). It would seem Kubrick, as a renowned bibliophile, has drawn from this directly; the earliest major collation of the Masonic traditions.
It can be accessed online here: http://www.phoenixmasonry.org/AASR_1884_/table_of_contents.htm
In the AASR, many of the chapters for the Degrees have a subsection called “The Apartment & It’s Decorations”, describing the appropriate adornment of Masonic lodges and apartments for the different degrees. Anyone who understands how Kubrick uses mise en scène in Eyes Wide Shut will also understand why this is relevant. There are draw-dropping connections in there, but for brevity I will again devote a separate investigation to these in future.
A quick note on Jewels and Constellations:
1) On top of colours and symbols, each masonic degree has a special jewel that is associated with it. In Eyes Wide Shut, although the colours and symbols always appear in the scene associated with that degree, it seems that the jewels of the degrees often appear in other scenes, spread throughout the film. The jewels are worn or connected to characters who are linked to the relevant degree.
2) There are multiple scenes in the film where soft lights are used to project constellatory dot patterns onto the clothes of characters from behind the camera. Judging by how these relate to the degrees of the scene they appear in, they seem to be representing stars. In at least one case, the lights are definitely referencing an astrological symbol associated with the relevant degree.
Ok. Enough preamble. Let’s start the scavenger hunt.

2020.11.24 03:00 discoskyline Hidden cameras for my house

[Music] good morning everyone my name is richard evans with caliber yacht sales and we're really excited to share with you that we are the representatives for helmsman trawlers for western canada now helmsman is started off with the former camano 31 molds which many of you may be familiar with but they've since expanded due to their popularity to many other models as well including the two cabin 37 the 38e pilot house which we're going to be showing you today and the 43 as well now there's many beautiful things about this boat the boat comes ready to go a lot of the popular items including bow and stern thruster which are standard on these vessels very very few options that you might want to consider but the other thing that you might want to know about is that these boats are semi-custom so you can make your boat your way but i'm getting ahead of myself come on aboard let's show you the quality and the beautiful layout of this vessel and then we'll go from there so there's many ways to access this boat they come standard with port and starboard pilot house doors but notice here as well that you can order the boat uh with uh gunnel doors to your side decks as well this particular boat was ordered with both port and starboard gunnel doors or side deck doors and notice here as well access on both port and starboard on the cockpit as well so you can board very easily no matter which side that you're tied up on but look at this now this is pretty special isn't this cool look at this big double transom gate that opens onto this extended swim grid all customizable the original boat if you just ordered the boat standard with the standard transom door uh the transom door would fit right here so you can board from the stern as well but this particular owner decided that he wants to sit in a cockpit to be able to sit in his chairs and increase the size of the cockpit and look out at the water without having the transom obstructing his view and just look how spectacular this is this is beautiful just beautiful and when you're underway and then when you get to your destination you open this up and you've got unobstructed view of the water isn't that great so these are just a few of the modifications that the owner has asked for in uh delivering this boat these staples i want to point out that if you wanted to you could remove these staples they just pop right out and then you've got nothing blocking your view of the ocean that's beautiful now the dinghy system here uh is the seawise davit system this is ordered after he took delivery of the boat normally uh the a smaller dinghy is stored on top with a davit system but in this particular case the owner wanted a bigger dinghy so uh he uh he viewed for this configuration with the c wise david system of course the dinghy is extra that that doesn't come from the factory now here in the cockpit we've got a good size here uh notice that you've got your households uh both port and starboard as well as aft here we have hot and cold down from when you come in from uh from swimming you have just a huge locker to store well it looks like he's got just a monster crab pot down there which you gotta have when you're uh in the pacific northwest and this very skookum salon door that just closes like so still allowing a lot of light in but being very very sturdily built so that uh if you're taking any waves over the stern you don't have to worry about water getting inside i love this you've heard me talk about how important a rigid overhang is in the pacific northwest to protect you from sun but also from rain the owner told us of a story we had a thunderstorm here a few weeks ago it was spectacular i mean the house just shook but he was at anchor when that happened and they sat here in the cockpit and they had the double transom door open and they were just looking out at the ocean with the spectacular lightning that was happening and they were perfectly dry perfectly comfortable very ideal boat for this part of the world now as good as all this is come on inside you're in for a treat when you have a look at the quality of the woodwork and joinery in here just look at the size of the space here this combination of salon and and galley going the full beam of the boat 13 feet 11 inches right from beam to beam it's it's a massive space for a 40-foot boat and just look at the quality of the woodwork in here you know you'd expect uh this quality of joinery and woodwork in boats much much more expensive than this boat and again that's one of helmsman's claim to fame they've managed to build a spectacular boat with excellent quality at a very very small price much smaller than what you'd expect to pay with some other boats that are out there look at this for example isn't that beautiful just beautiful and this wainscoting in this headliner just gives it a rich warm feeling i mean you'd want to spend time in this space here over here on the port side look at all of these windows and with these wooden blinds as well again it's all customizable you can put in whatever you want uh the quality of the woodwork is just beautiful the space feels warm and comfortable with all of this natural light coming in notice the screens and the windows so great ventilation for those hot summer days and look at the size of the opening window i mean it's you would be very very comfortable in this space and look at this look at this big door when it's closed it completely seals out all the weather and it sounds even the sound is so much quieter with this door it's a very very heavy construction and before i open it again look at the amount of light that comes in here it's beautiful you know what i've sold other boats with a much much higher price point than this and the impression that i'm getting in this boat is uh this is great value for the price point the quality in this boat is as good as it you would get in any other boat for up to 35-40 percent more let me just open this up i want to show you something else look at this now isn't that fabulous imagine yourself in this space here looking out while you're preparing a meal or just visiting with your guests and looking out at the water with no unobstructed view of uh with the transom in in your way just looking at at the water and that's what boating is all about isn't this great yeah i really like this a lot loads of storage three banks of drawers here deep stainless steel sink here storage below here another bank of three drawers there and over here again keep in mind that this boat is semi-custom you can order it the way you want it the owner of this boat is asked for an induction stove top with a convection microwave oven below no propane at all much safer and uh of course induction stoves work very very efficiently look at this here while you're sitting in that city uh right in behind me there's your tv hidden away and then when you're done just put it away again this beautiful window here imagine yourself standing here doing the dishes looking out at that vista the beautiful coastline that we're that we have here [Music] we got these reading lamps and spotlights all the way around the boat lots of storage here again overhead storage here this one for glasses this one could be for plates or pans or whatever you want just very very ingenious even the even the overhead spaces uh is used for storage and in here we got more storage again and look at the size of this fridge and freezer isn't that great just beautiful and of course it's all finished in antique facing to blend in with the rest of the boat houseman i don't know how they've done it but for the price point on this boat the quality is amazing just amazing look at that teak and holly floor i just love it it's just beautiful this is nice this is a convertible city drop this down and it becomes a bed double bed so now this becomes your guest's private space all of this space with that beautiful beautiful view of the water how do we separate the space from the pilot house and we do it with a curtain here and a curtain here and you can have the factory install that for not a whole lot of money so let's have a look down below here here is the day head but it also becomes your guest's private head with their own shower this has been so well thought out just a brilliant brilliant design and when just the two of you are out cruising then this just becomes all your space so moving up into the pilot house here and i know i know i'm the teak guy but everything in this boat is just so well crafted it's it's just beautiful just beautiful so here we are in the pilot house again the boat comes standard with pilot house doors both port and starboard and the satee now this was a very very clever modification on this city the owner wanted an additional single up here in the pilot house and why not it's a nice private separate space and so what did he do well he had the factory design this form these these boards come out this table goes down this leg goes in there and a cushion fits in there and now this becomes this becomes a single bed and it's not a compromised single bed it is a bed to the standard dimensions of a single bed the only change would be this curved cushion here but this cushion can actually come out isn't that clever and look how this hides away so beautifully and held in place you wouldn't even know that that was part of the modification it's just brilliant so right here right behind the helm seat is the chart table and below that an accessory door for your remote controls below that uh you have your ac dc panels and this adjustable helm seat adjusts up and down and back and forth your electronics we can help you get very very good pricing on the electronics of your choice the boat comes with enough to get the boat underway but the electronics would be your choice electronics we're finding are very very personal and we can commission the boat here either in seattle or here in vancouver and you choose the electronics that you want and those will be installed what the boat does come with is both bow and stern thrusters with remote control for side power electronic controls to a cummins common rail diesel but there are many many options for power there's five different engine choices that you can make on this boat the boat comes standard with 250 horse which is plenty some people would want more but the cool thing is electronic controls and common rail engines so you have no smoke and very very high fuel economy up here are your analog gauges for your fuel tanks and other your wiper controls and your switches for your bilge pumps and shower sump and notice your backward slanting alaskan windshields just great for these this part of the world where we get frost in the morning sometimes and it it helps to keep the frost off the windows and also helps to break any water that's breaking over the bow of course again with your comfort in mind it the center window has opening and on gas shocks excessive accessibility to all of your electronics very easy to get to they've thought of everything here so you don't have to tear your boat apart to install new electronics or to check existing electronics chart storage in here and also a great place for your cruising guides and other references now right here the helm seat very comfortable incredibly comfortable helmsie with a bolster so for those who like to stand when they're when they're underway you've got something to lean against it's a great feel it's a good feel from this place great visibility looking forward here you've got two doors to the pilot house to so you can exit either port or starboard and looking aft when you're backing up there we go i got perfect visibility i've got maybe 10 degrees that i can't see with this bulkhead right here but having said that we have an option of putting in backup cameras for you as well that cool we've got a single up here a single bed up here in the pilot house this space blocks off the master cabin those curtains that we talked about earlier blocks out the salon and the city so now you have essentially three private sleeping spaces for you and your guests wonderful wonderful design now down below here we have a queen size bed accessible from both sides so you don't have to climb over each other when you want to get up in the night the joinery and the teat down here is so luxurious and so warm oh you're just going to love it now plenty plenty of storage hang up locker to starboard seat aligned of course the shower is a standalone shower as i pointed out with a teak bench in case you wanted to sit down while you're showering it might be handy when you're underway and this is really a great idea you've got a head to port and you at the starboard is your shower two are separated so one is using the head the other could be using the shower and vice versa storage over top of the bedside table notice these big opening port lights that we have down here giving you great great ventilation and of course that natural light it's nice and above we have a big hatch for even more natural light into this great space and ventilation as well now isn't that beautiful this is such a wonderful boat for the price point you're going to be very happy with it now let's go up to the bridge all of this is great but the bridge is one of my favorite places so follow me [Music] wow just look at the size of this space isn't this beautiful and just imagine yourself up here entertaining with four or five guests have a few chairs with antique table up here and just sitting here looking out at the beautiful views that that you get here in the pacific northwest just just a wonderful lay very well thought out now in here we have uh the helm station um and the bimini the boat does not come with the bimini but we can help you source it once we get it here to bc and have it commissioned the radar arch is already in place for you to install the various antennae uh as well as having access to the radar arch so that installation of your antennae will be very easy right here at the helm we've got bow and stern thrusters standard with the boat uh analog engine gauges which i really like because it gives you an instant view of what's going on with your engines uh the electronics that you would choose once the boat gets here and again we can help you get very very good pricing on these electronics and your electronic engine controls now you've got a nice city table great spot to have lunch while you're up here and just looking at the beautiful scenery around you and storage beneath these uh these uh cushions here are really nice feature isn't this great could you imagine yourself up here looking out at that anchorage eh i certainly can't [Music] [Music] now before we go down i just want to point out this wonderful opportunity for solar panels just look at this massive space that you could put numerous solar panels and as you know they're getting very very efficient and solar panels are becoming much much more popular than they used to be but let's go down and i'll take you forward to the foredeck and i'll show you what's going on up there that gradual rise of the stairs is both on port and starboard so you have your choice it just makes boating that much more convenient and easy for you the boat is built with safety in mind just look at how high these safety rails are and very solid very well anchored into the deck and very wide side decks as well so here on the four deck just look at the quality of this hardware a stainless steel 20 kilogram bruce anchor with 200 feet of galvanized chain to pull it up with a stainless steel bow sprit to hold the anchor windless with more than enough power to get that anchor up and down and a samsung post as well as deck switches up and down controls which is nice all here beautiful well done down right here on the starboard side is a locker for your fenders and your anchor wash down just beautiful look at the size of these line guides very very overbuilt and typical of this boat and all for the price point that we're talking about is just remarkable value so let's have a look at the engine space here you're gonna really like this very easy to access there are two accesses to the engine space uh one your main one is through here but a second access to the engine space through the day head as well so very easy to access and just look at all the space down here now i want to point out these very unique features first boat that i've seen that instead of having to lift your floorboards you've got access to all your critical valves just by reaching through there instead of having to pull your floorboards up how great is that your raw water strainer the same thing all of your valves just reach through the floorboard and just pull them up look at the how clean and well organized this is and you know what when the boat arrived everything was labeled it wasn't necessary to try to match up your schematic to the various valves and and everything else everything has a label on it so um wonderful wonderful thoughts has gone into this comes standard with two heavy duty batteries your batteries are very accessible easy to get to you have the option of adding to that if you wish you also have the option of adding a generator at various sizes if you wish dual record filters with a pressure valve on them so you can switch from one to the other and you can do it on the fly this is one of those parts of this boat that impressed me immensely because as you know engine spaces can get cramped and it's so typical if you can't get to your engine you're not going to maintain it rather than trying to contort your body around an engine to get to your dipstick it's right there how convenient is that eh very easy to do your daily checks isn't this great and of course the hatches on gas shocks very well insulated easy to open and close driving this boat first of all the engine is so perfectly quiet and when you turn on the generator you don't even hear it when the engine's running the sound deadening that has gone into this boat is remarkable it's so comfortable and so easy to drive especially with your balance stern thruster and in a chop or in a rough sea on the stability of the boat well you're just going to be blown away you can custom build this boat to whatever configuration that you want what this means is that you can design and custom build the helmsman that's right for you so there you go folks a beautiful boat very well crafted quality that you would see in a much much more expensive boat so why pay more money give us a call we'll get you on board you'll see for yourself and you'll be very glad you did [Music] [Music] [Music] you
