There's forest fire up in the hills again
Always reminds me of the night we spend at the river's edge
For hours standing hand in hand
Too chicken shit to just go diving in
Too scared to turn away and face the fate that awaits us both back on land
Forest fire has a smell to it
A certain sweetness the misleads us to believe that everything's well again
The summer's sweltering
The kind of heat you feel inside your feet radiating upward from the earth within
If I was a smarter man I'd've never gave you momma's wedding ring
I'd've went ahead and just pawned the thing
Skipped town and never called again
But your brain never listens to the songs that your heart'll sing
I ain't no Christian, that was momma's thing
I don't know how to pray and if I did I'm not too sure He's listening
To me it's whispering
I don't know
Maybe there is some fucking magic in giving language to hidden things
Who are we kidding kid, we were just born into this
And what the hell would make us think that we were any different?
Your daddy did the same, my pops did it too
They cam to the same spot asking that river for some clues
All they got was wet shoes
And they gave birth to me and you
So tell me darling
What the hell are we supposed to do?
We'll dance alone together
Held back by the fear that one day
We might get so close
We'll never be strong enough to separate
She had this dream that's clever
We could fold time and space
I like you
You like me
Why are we so afraid?
Why are we so afraid?
Why are we so afraid?
Why are we so afraid?
Why are we so afraid?
Why are we so afraid?
Why are we so afraid?

A conspiracy is two or more people knowingly planning illegal or harmful acts. A conspiracy is not just lizard people, hidden UFOs, and pedophiles, a conspiracy is something that can be so common that we just accept it as normal and continue on. Even more - sometimes we (as in general people, not necessarily "we" on this site) we are so predicatively programmed and normalized to this kind of behavior that we don't even realize when a real conspiracy happens because we are so used to it being projected from others.
Let's take a list of what has happened so far in this "current age" (because things feel so different ever since the virus hit). These are not conspiracy theories - these are real life events.

Obviously these events are all connected. There is no more "I can see both sides" or "both sides are equally bad" argument. One is based on an ideology of individualism, voluntarism, and treating Americans as the adults that they are. The other is based on an ideology of forced collectivism and mass control through coercion, extortion, deception, and threats of mass violence (or as some might say: terrorism). There is no left vs. right. There is no conservative vs. progressive. There is only freedom vs. tyranny. And right now we are being tyrannized by the media and by government at all levels.
Lock down economies, make people think compliance will set them free, and then hold them hostage under the illusion that they will be able to return to a normal life. A tiny bit of hope is all that is required to turn people away from the idea of taking matters into their own hands.
Censor liberty-minded voices to keep any threat to the tyranny small, disorganized, and unconnected. Create and normalize an entire portion of the federal government to survey and spy on citizens without a warrant under the guise of security. Chip away at their right and will to defend themselves for decades and then suddenly remove the only barrier between them and violent mobs. Gaslight the people into believing that liberty is death, that patriots are the enemy, and that free thinkers are a threat to human civilization. Remove people's ability to connect with family and friends or churches, leaving them without any anchor, sense of normalcy, or purpose besides complying with the will of the state.
Surround people with threats on all sides, and empty promises that the chaos will be removed through appeasement and compliance when we all know deep down that things are not going to return to normal no matter how low we bow. Dismantle our police so that their police can take over under a different name. Get us to stay in our homes otherwise a killer virus will kill us or worse - our loved ones. Accept Universal Basic Income or starve as a result of being held criminally liable for attempting to contribute to the market. Vote democrat or get looted, burned, beaten, killed, or worse by the "Anti-Fascist" insurrection during a guaranteed civil war with no clear geographical borders and no safe areas.
The world that will replace ours has no room for those who have ever been a threat to tyranny. Those who value liberty and patriotism will be exterminated one way or another whether it be from a rushed vaccine now (for which being mandatory has been normalized and even encouraged by the public) or from being tracked by the chips that will be inevitably inserted into us after we set the precedent that government can put whatever it wants into our bodies without our permission. The people who praise mask mandates and shutdowns now are the ones who will inform the state of your wrongthink or noncompliance to come take you away. It might be a pedestrian, a cashier, a neighbor, a cousin, a brother, a sister, or a best friend. The world that may replace ours will have enforcers, tracers, trackers, blacklists, and eventually ghettos and extermination.
The world that will replace ours was conceived by people who weaponize your good will of constitutionality, voluntarism, and individualism against you. Your appeasement is their opportunity to impose tyranny against you. Your aversion to violence is their queue to burn your house and hold a gun to your car window. Your mask is their precedent that you have no right to decide what goes into your blood. Your desire for equality for all is their imposition of racial violence and extortion of payment for crimes committed by people who were not you, your family, or your ancestors. The inch you give has become the mile they are using against you.
Your culture is already gone and it is not coming back. Your country remains in name only. Your future is being stolen. It stands to reason that in only a few short months or years your very life could be taken from you as well.
This is what leftism is and always has been. It starts with a critique of inequity and social injustice. It normalizes its presence in society as it grows like a cancer in the minds of children who grow up believing that this involuntary collectivism is morally equal or even superior to all other ideas. It gains followers through the guilt and shame of the weak minded and through gas lighting of the slightly stronger - deceiving the people to believe that leftism started us on the path to freedom for all colors and creeds when it was the individualist Thomas Jefferson who started us down that path - that it was leftism that led to the most prosperous nation and largest anti-empire in human history when it was really voluntary and free interaction that got us there - that leftism will be the fair future of our country when it will be patriots who value equality over arbitrarily defined group equity that bring the United States into the only future worth having. Leftism radicalizes people to view reality through the lens of the collective rather than through the mind of the individual which is where reality is actually perceived. It disarms, marks, tracks, and exterminates those who may be a threat to the per-approved agenda. And eventually it becomes too heavy to support its own weight at which point it must either conquer or collapse.
The only hope is that this country has all the aspects of what make other countries great, yet has our own aspects that give us the potential for even more. Like all great countries we were built on revolution against tyranny, except we retain our weapons to this day which are necessary to (but not a guarantee of) the security of a free state. Like all great countries we encourage the free exchange of ideas, except we retain our absolute right to speak to even the fringes of society because our founding fathers knew that every so often rationality becomes a fringe idea. Like all great countries we accept that humans exist with natural rights to do as we deem necessary within the bounds of voluntary interaction, except we wrote this into our supreme law that it is not the people, but the state, that is restricted by the other for the purposes of entrusting some protection of our live and liberty to the elected authority so that all may be more able to pursue happiness.
Other nations have fallen to tyranny never to rise again, or to compete on the world stage only by standing on the shoulders of a billion enslaved people with domination as the only goal. What gives me hope for the future of our nation specifically is that those nations, in contrast, weren't filled with Americans.
We could try one more time to inspire change with our ballots, however the outcome of the election just so happens to be the deadline for the radical left as well. If the left wins then we may well have given up as a nation before the real challenge as there will no longer be any valid governmental opposition to the growth of the cancerous radical left, at which our constitution, our history, and our country in everything but name will be a distant memory. If the Americans win, then there may be just enough hope that we can finally come together and live another day as Americans. But never let your guard down - even if our president is the patriot that he is said to be by some there is no country that can be saved by one person alone.
So spread the word that there are still Americans in America. Don't yield to tyranny even for reasons that appear moral since no tyranny has ever been conceived out of thin air but instead is always as a result of something done for your safety. Don't let yourselves be gaslit into thinking that liberty is ever your enemy. Don't fall for the illusion that government has power over your fundamental human rights, and instead understand that the only rights you really have are the ones that you are able to defend alone and they can never be taken so long as you defend them, and all other rights amount to a pinky promise. And never let yourselves be fooled into thinking that popularity or legality are equal to morality.
Edit: Absolutely none of this should be taken as a call to revolution, upheaval, or violence of any kind. This post is based on what is happening in the United States now and its historical parallels which has led to the suffering of many people, it is not based on a call to action of any kind beyond immediate self defense should it unfortunately become necessary. As always the only acceptable use of force is in immediate self defense and not preemptively. That is what liberty is based on. While I urge you all to be prepared to defend yourselves and your families from the very real threat of insurrection in the country should it come to your front door, I also urge you all to not engage unless you are engaged first. Never under any circumstances initiate force of any kind against another human being. Your right to defense starts and ends at the same place as your right to self ownership: at the immediate unauthorized access to your person.

(Warning: gun fight, blood, one person dies.)
It had taken days of tailing my target to find the best possible intersection of circumstance and terrain in which to strike. The elevator had been broken, so the man took the stairs. Stairwells are good. Confined. Far lower odds of outside influences.
I watched on the security cameras as he stepped through the door into the stairwell. I count to ten to let him move a little, then leave the security desk and follow him, grabbing my jacket as I go. By the time I reach the door, thirty-three seconds have elapsed. All my tools and weapons are arrayed in the coat, as they should be. I push through the door and onto the stairs.
The door closes behind me automatically, and a resounding metal clang echos throughout the stairwell. There is no other sound. Something must have tipped off the target. Not unusual, happens about seventy-five percent of the time. Sometimes it's not even a tip off, but they decide at the perfect moment to tie their shoe or something, which lets them hear me coming. I stand and wait. I'm a patient man. You have to be, to last long in the business of hunting the Lucky.
Below, someone coughs. "Mr. Steven Macelroy, a bounty has been placed on your head due to your extremely unlikely winnings at the horse races. You may either turn yourself in to me to await trial, or I can carry out the default sentence here and now." I said as I strode down the stairs toward the source of the cough.
The stattaco sounds of feet pounding on the stairs was the only urging I needed to begin sprinting after him. Fleeing from a bounty is tantamount to guilt, after all. Two flights of stairs later, he was in view and I had my capsule launcher in hand. Trying to shoot him with a gun would be pointless. Or rather, there was a 98.7% chance that I'd miss every shot and a high probability that the noise would bring in other people, variables, which would only increase Steven's chances of escape.
As Steven rounded a corner I aimed, not at him, but ahead of him, and pulled the trigger. A small gel-capsule, no larger than my thumb impacted the wall and rapidly expanded into semi-rigid sticky foam. The Arms Department called them flypaper shots. Steven brought himself up short, the tips of his shoes on the edge of where the foam's likely maximum expansion radius was. He was a portly fellow in slacks and a cornflower blue button up shirt, his face and armpits drenched in sweat.
"Don't suppose we could talk this out, eh Hunter?" Steven said, hands held up defensively. I saw him glance down over the railing, but I knew we were too high up for even one as lucky as him to survive the jump. That left him only one option, unless he wanted to get stuck in foam. He'd have to through me. Hunting someone who possesses extreme luck is a matter of cutting off their options and probabilities, until only my desired outcome remains.
"Nope. You can either die here, or put your hands on the wall and follow my instructions." I said as I approached him, stopping where I was just out of his reach. It was only fair to at least give him a chance to surrender, though the odds of him doing that were about 1 in 12,000.
Steven shook his head frantically and his eyes darted around the stairway. "Uh-uh, I know what happens in those trials. It's always guilty-guilty-guilty and then off to the prisons with the guy. I'm not going." he said.
I spread my arms wide, ready to flick my fingers in such a way as to deploy a number of options from the mechanisms hidden under my jacket-sleeves. "Then you'll have to go through me to get out." I said. Steven took a deep breath and then lunged at me. I leaped to one side, but his arm clipped me and we both tumbled to the ground. His wild and flailing punches impacted me perfectly on the nose each time, and pain blossomed throughout my face as my nose caved inward.
He sprang up and I tried to grab his ankle. My hand slipped off him. Improbable with an average person, that such a simple thing would fail. Steven was definitely high on the luck scale. This wasn't something I could do alone. I reached for the microphone buried in my jacket-collar and keyed it on.
"This is Control." a tinny female voice said.
"Good. I need you to lockdown the staircase I'm on. And seal the fourth floor entirely if possible. Identity Code 77506." I said.
"Hunter 77, code confirmed. Lockdown in three seconds." the female voice said as I got to my feet. Steven had only made it up two flights of stairs. There was no chance he'd make it to the door in time. The sound of metal clanking into place echoed throughout the area as the stairway's doorlocks engaged and metal bombproof shutters rolled downward to cover the windows.
Steven made it to the door too late. "Fuck!" he cursed. I strode up the stairwell after him. There was no point in hurrying now.
"You're not getting out of here now bud. Funny thing about luck, is it tends to be less effective at a range, and often has a preference for objects over people, or people over objects. I'm thinking yours is tilted toward being effective with people..." I said. I got within ten paces and Steven sprinted up the stairs. Unfortunately for him, I was far more fit and I caught up to him three flights later. still walking. I found him collpased on a landing between the stairs, taking deep wheezing breaths.
"Last chance to surrender, Mr. Macelroy." I said as I stood over him, once again making sure I was just out of his reach. This time I pulled my standard pistol from it's pocket. The one I'd loaded with hollow-points.
"Fuck you Hunter, I'll figure this out." he wheezed as he pushed himself to his feet, leaning on the wall for support. As he got his feet under him, I pressed the gun to his forehead, to better my chances. His hand struck my wrist as I squeezed the trigger. His head slipped out from under the barrel, but not completely. "Gaaaah!" Steven screamed. The bullet gouged out a small chunk of flesh and bone next to his temple. The gunshot itself left my ears ringing as it echoed through the room, it had to be worse for him, as he clapped his hands to his ears and tried to run past me.
Without looking, he stepped over my extended foot, avoiding the trip. As he jogged back down the stairs, I aimed at him again, and emptied the clip, all fourteen rounds. 5% chance that any bullet would strike him. Strangely enough, one did. Straight through the spine. The entry wound was about two fingers thick. Steven tumbled down the stairs, blood oozing from the wound and spattering against the concrete as he went. His momentum ended on the next landing down, with a nasty crunch.
I strode down the stairs and holstered my gun. I reached around on Steven's neck with two fingers and couldn't find a pulse. I keyed my mic again, "Control. I've got him."
"We saw through your button-cam. That shot only had a 5% chance of hitting. As per Defense Department procedure you'll need to quarantine for two weeks to make sure none of the target's luck has rubbed off on you. Can't be losing our star agent to the enemy, now can we? Return to HQ immediately Hunter 77." Control's voice said.
I felt a cold sensation on the back of my neck. Had I gotten lucky?

The end has arrived. I gotta say between this month being... very difficult for a lot of reasons and actually finally fucking finishing something since MoC 88 I had a lot of trouble with this. I'm still not sure how I feel about any of it! Lot to process for both Jaeger and myself so... I hope you all enjoy as always!

Chapter 1
Chapter 49
“The fuck happened in there?” Brandy-Lynn was standing at the edge of the lobby watching Tanya and Jaeger walk back out. Behind her Figs was trying to strap his dismembered arm to his rig one handed while Kuv helped.
“Nothing.” Jaeger muttered quietly, still trying to process the emotions flowing through his mind. Brandy-Lynn glanced past him a moment.
“You had to kill a copy Marque made of Leona didn’t you?” Jaeger just stared back at her, unsure if he hated Brandy-Lynn right now or not. “Yeah you did. Man does your life suck. I’m telling ya, this is why you just get yourself a gaggle of fuck boys and don’t get bogged down in deep relationships. Or… fuck girls in your case… uuhhh… on second thought no that doesn’t sound right. Figs, what’s the female equivalent of fuck boys?” Brandy-Lynn turned to the big guy struggling with his single arm.
“How the fuck should I know?” He grumpily replied before twisting and turning a little as Kuv finally secured the arm to his back. “Is it falling out?”
“It will have to do. I am short on cords of bungee.” Kuv replied as he pulled on a strap to watch it snap back into place.
“What are we talking about? Fuck boys?” Figs looked over now back in the conversation. “For sarge? What about that spy girl with the daddy issues?”
“Yeah, I think that ship has sailed because ol sarge here shot her in the leg.” Brandy-Lynn wagged a finger at Jaeger.
“What? When did this happen?” Figs looked over, obviously surprised.
“Just before we left. Apparently she wanted to come with us and Sarge decided no no and went blat blat.” Brandy-Lynn added some finger guns to accent her point.
“Isn’t that a bit extreme sarge?” Figs asked. Jaeger meanwhile just stared at Kuv, who was the only one who would have been present for that. The xeno was rather distinctly not looking his way and in fact carefully counting his grenades.
“She snuck onto the Obsidian Guard shuttle. Better safe than sorry. I’m sure sarge made sure it was a clean shot.” Tanya said in his defense standing besides him.
“Yeah, clean shot or not you don’t typically get a girl wet by shooting her. Typically. Especially if you just want a cheap rebound pump ‘n dump like you need sarge.” Brandy-Lynn wasn’t letting off even as Jaeger just stood there, silent.
“Actually sarge might be onto something. We’ve established she has daddy issues. So, he shoots her right? But, it’s for tough love reasons. The toughest love considering… the bullet and all that. He wants her safe, and takes her out of the action. She’s in pain, but then gets healed and feels better, and being shot increases adrenaline for obvious reasons, which can be related to attraction. So she’s sitting in the med bay while we’re here getting flooded with feel good drugs, and tangling with what he’s done to her. It’s like a really extreme version of spanking. I bet you she’ll be twice as hot for his dad bod once we get back.” Figs nodded confidently after laying out his thoughts on the matter.
“Ooohhh… and it’s the thigh. Pretty decent erogenous zone the thigh…” Brandy-Lynn nodded. “Was that your plan sarge? Tough love daddy issues your way into her panties? We can ping home and see if she’s ready to give you a blowie when we get back.”
The squad was silent as they looked at Jaeger. He had just killed a person who looked, sounded, and behaved exactly like his dead wife. Yet, this is how they welcomed him back. “Fuck you.” He pointed at Brandy-Lynn. “Fuck you.” He pointed at Figs next. “Fuck you.” He pointed at Kuv whho continued to look away. Then he looked at Tanya besides him. “And fuck you, but for different reasons.”
“We love you too sarge.” Tanya immediately replied. He let out a deep heavy sigh then and shook his head. Then he began to shake his shoulders, and arms, and just generally wiggle and shake his entire body for several seconds.
“Okay.” He felt better. Though he would absolutely never give Brandy-Lynn any kind of credit for her behavior he knew she did it to help pull him out of the emotional pit he had been in. “Why the fuck are we standing around in a clump where a single well placed explosive could take us all out. Fucking spacing you cognitive rejects. Figs if you can’t operate your shotgun get your fucking sidearm out already or take one of the SMGs off the Draugr. Brandy-Lynn… Just… More drugs or something get up front.”
“More drugs it is! Right you are sarge! Good call!” He watched her shudder a moment before she began to jog up the ruined lobby towards the hallway that should lead them to the command center.
“Is that wise?” Tanya asked.
“Fuck I don’t know. Get her out of here at least.” Jaeger shrugged. “Kuv.” The xeno finally looked at him.
“Stay in the back and be ready with whatever you got left. If we face off against another killer bot like that monster do you have another satchel charge?” He glanced over at the heavy frame that had nearly taken them out.
“I do not. Also I only mentioned the leg shot in reference to your excellent marksmanship.” He tried to explain but Jaeger just shook his head.
“Simmer down. It is what it is. Obviously they’d find out. Figs are you honestly okay? You are an arm down…” He was watching the big synth pick a gun off one of the bodies and try and shift it around in one hand.
“Awkward as hell but I’m living my best life sarge.” He then began picking up more of the guns, clipping them to his rig. “Fuck it, I’ll fire em one handed and chuck em. Can’t reload for shit anyway.”
Jaeger had to think about ordering Figs back, but then he considered what might still be ahead of them. “If you can’t fight… Don’t think you have to stay but if you’re… Sure… then uh…” Jaeger shrugged as Figs fell in behind him while they followed after Brandy-Lynn.
Even as they got to the hallway he heard the spinup of her Trident before the roar of the gun filled the air. “Contact?” He called out and quickly checked the corner to see Brandy-Lynn standing in the hall unloading on something further down.
“Turrets. Popped right out of the ceiling.” She called back as she let off the trigger. Jaeger could soon see the guns smoking and sizzling as they dangled from the ceiling further down.
“Well, that’s bad. Pull back a moment. Spike.” He shifted his arm, holding it out for the bot to run up and stick into the ceiling before it scurried along. Jaeger and the others spread out around the junction in the hall, each covering a path to ensure they didn’t get ambushed. Jaeger soon saw a rough echo of the halls ahead, but even as Spike carefully moved forward it was as though the images being bounced back were muted. Something dampening his ability to scan them it seemed.
“Spike, try getting into the holes one of the turrets came out of. See if there’s any space in the ceiling.” He called out as the bot reached one of the lightly smoking turrets. The bot slipped up into the darkness as they waited before Jaeger saw more echoing images and heard a negative chirp. “Looks like each one is independently sealed. Good news, limited magazine. Bad news, spotting the damn things.”
“I’m a bit surprised Marque would bother.” Tanya mentioned as they began to creep forward. Spike crawled back out of the turret’s hiding spot and kept moving forward.
“If even one catches an intruder by surprise it’s worth it I guess. Plus he probably expected intruders to use a bot like Spike. The walls are all dampened.” Jaeger mentioned as he held his rifle up and ready as they looked for new targets.
Here the halls seemed to lead past a series of offices mixed in with workshops and the like. Clearly Marque had still been leading a robust R&D effort here. Jaeger opened a door to glance inside a few of the doors as they went past. Assassin bots, exploding insects, mind altering drugs, a sound that kills, and more. It seemed like he was throwing everything at the wall to find out what stuck.
Jaeger would be more concerned but from what he could see the projects all seemed to be just starting out. The fact that they were here in Marque’s command center didn’t bode well for any projects continuation anyway. Though there was a chance that Whispertail would be interested in some of what they found once this was all over. Jaeger had some hope that the Ravex was uninterested in the assassin bots, drugs, and such and just focus on more combat oriented projects. There wasn’t all that much subtlety in how he looked down on Jaeger and the other Revenant for their more covert tactics in the past.
Spike chirped out a warning and everyone pressed themselves flat to the walls of the hall. As they watched the bot on the ceiling took a few steps to the side and then forward before a turret started to descend from one of the ceiling tiles. Just as it did the bot quickly crawled into the opening and after a moment the turret stopped moving as they all heard a few sharp jolts of electricity arcing in the air. Then Spike crawled back out and gave an affirmative chirp.
“Got a room up ahead. Should be the cafeteria, stay alert.” Jaeger called out, going off what it would have been at the base; this layout seemed to be based off back on Edenshard. The group moved up carefully while Spike led the way. Soon as it got to the edge it gave a chirp as Jaeger got a quick echo that didn’t seem to show any hostiles, though it confirmed his thought that it was the cafeteria.
Brandy-Lynn edged up first and spun up her trident before rounding the corner. Though as she moved up no one took a shot so Jaeger and the others moved in and spread out. All around were the typical tables and chairs he’d used a thousand times while working for Absolute Dynamics. Trays with plates of food were strewn about, some tossed on the floor, some knocked across tables, all rather obviously left behind in a hurry. “Spike, any track analysis?”
There were a few halls connected to the cafeteria that operated as a hub of sorts for most Absolute Dynamic’s compounds like this. Considering they hadn’t found any eggheads in labcoats indicated they’d move elsewhere, but considering the massive assault on the surface he had no idea where that might be. Soon Spike chirped up again as it jumped from table to table and scanned the area. “The reactor? I understand why some headed to the command center but why would so many run to the reactor?” Tanya asked once Spike gave his answer.
“Most secure room?” Jaeger suggested with a shrug. “Or they have some kind of escape route.”
“Maybe they figure if they can’t get out might sabotage it. Marque hires fanatics right? What would a shard reactor going critical do? Bye bye mountain. And us with it.” Brandy-Lynn pointed out.
“Shit.” Jaeger did not like that prospect one bit. He didn’t think of Marque as that kind of suicidal type… but there was a chance the synth had some way to escape on his own. Jaeger looked around for a moment as they took up a defensive posture in the area. Not like the little tables would do much against Revenant HEAP ammo. Figs was down an arm and Brandy-Lynn had been shot several times. Regardless of the drugs and medical tech in her suit that had to be impacting her. “Max what’s the sit rep on the surface?”
“Units have entered what remains of the hangar complex. No sign of Marque. Resistance is heavy.” His son replied immediately.
“Do you have any units looping off into the ventilation area we opened up? We need some reinforcements right about now.” Jaeger was hoping an entire platoon of bots was headed to them right now.
“No. All assets are in and around the crater. Whispertail has some in there though. Want me to patch you in?” Jaeger considered Max’s request for a moment.
“Give him a beacon on my location with a one second delay and then connect me.” He replied, shifting his gun around a moment as he looked back up the hall.
“Why a one second delay? Wouldn’t you want him getting real time location data?” Max was obviously confused.
“Because a one second delay encrypts the feed.” He explained simply. “Just hurry please Max.”
“On it dad.” Jaeger wanted to tell his son how proud he was of him, but something told him now wasn’t the time to be a parent so much as a commanding officer.
“Jaeger, what is it?” Whispertail was as cheerful as ever it seemed.
“My unit is inside a copy of an old Absolute Dynamics R&D facility. You should be getting our location data shortly. We need reinforcements because we have a situation. A number of lab techs or the like ran off into the reactor. We’re concerned they might be trying to overload it in case their forces lose the battle for the base.” While he spoke to Whispertail Kuv seemed to be inspecting some of the trays of food, as if looking for one that wasn’t too bad.
“Of course they are. You do know that your species is the only one suicidal enough to even use shard reactors right?” Whispertail grumbled at the idea. “None of my commandos have experience operating shard reactors. Will you take that, while they take the command center?”
“Not a chance. Marque is mine. We’re not even sure they’re doing anything yet. Or that they will. All the reactors have alarms in place that you can’t bypass in case things go wrong… But… I have no idea if Marque would keep those for obvious reasons. Ah… Spike! Broad spectrum scan real quick.” He waited a moment while the bot spun around a moment and began to let out a rapid series of chirps.
“Oh cool. Levels are already that high? Sounds like we’re all gonna piss purple tonight. That’s always a joy.” Brandy-Lynn muttered.
“Mmhh… we don’t know if void rays are building up on purpose or if containment was cracked when some jackass dropped a space station on the complex.” Jaeger told Whispertail.
“It fucking worked! You’re just jelly, you didn’t think of it!” Brandy-Lynn hissed at him.
“I will… instruct my team to obey your orders. Within reason. I am also sending additional units. Bad as letting your nemesis escape might be I am far more concerned with the potential eradication of this mountain range. Especially since I am currently on said mountain range. Jaeger I hope you survive this so I can yell at you afterwards in person.” Jaeger just smirked as the Ravex expressed his feelings about the situation.
“I appreciate you too bud. How close are your units?” He glanced up the hallway once more.
“Momentarily.” Whispertail promised. After another second or two Jaeger saw movement as a group of Obsidian Guard rounded the corner of the previous junction.
“They’re here. Keep you updated best I can.” Jaeger shifted his rifle to appear as non threatening as he could while the Ravex approached. Their gear was a fairly sharp contrast to Jaeger and the others.
While the Revenant’s smart cloaks were partially shredded and in rather obvious disarray the Ravex looked like they’d stepped right out a recruitment vid. They didn’t bother with any kind of stealth either, they were all in heavy armor. Not to mention the blades along their gauntlets, shins, elbows, knees, and of course studding their tails. Spreading out around the opening to the cafeteria the ten of them made for a very imposing display of force, their reflective visors gleaming back at him. Until one opened up. “Hiiiii Jaeger!”
“Oh hey Twilightbloom. Are you in charge?” Jaeger was glad to see a familiar face.
“Nope! He is.” She tilted her head at the Ravex besides her.
“First Claw First Feather Shock Master Goldtalon.” The Ravex didn’t extend a hand for a greeting and just kept his rifle in hand. “I’m told you have a possible shard reactor meltdown in progress. That is my priority.”
“Yes…” He glanced over his own group for a moment. “Figs, Kuv, Brandy-Lynn you go with Goldtalon and… whoever he sends.”
“What? The hell I will!” Brandy-Lynn immediately started to complain. “I wanna kill Marque!”
“Get in fucking line. You’re wounded and you’ve got the Trident. If there’s heavy resistance around the reactor they’ll need you.” Jaeger turned to face Brandy-Lynn as she shifted her minigun around a moment and then sighed.
“Yes, sarge.” She knew better than to push it even if she had her own reasons to want to kill Marque. “Just be sure to kick him in the nuts for me will you?”
“Will do.” Jaeger nodded. “Kuv you know how these reactors work?”
“I know how to make them explode.” The demolitions expert shrugged.
“Then, you also know how to make them not explode. Right?” Jaeger checked.
“Theoretically. Like most reactors it’s a matter of coolant and containment. But also in this case additionally deadly deadly radiation from another dimension. Or whatever the void is. Experts still disagree. Even Jipasi experts.” As he said that Goldtalon snorted.
“Isn’t that a moronic oxen? Jipasi experts?” The Ravex asked, which made Kuv’s tail immediately unfurl in indignation.
“I’ll have you know-” Jaeger stepped between them before the small demolitions expert could even step up to the towering Ravex commando.
“The term is oxymoron, and while I appreciate a Ravex telling a joke, you need his help to ensure this mountain range stays in this plane of existence. So… Cool it.” Jaeger was glad his helmet hid the smirk across his face while the big xeno just shrugged.
“This one told me irreverent conversation is how you all ease tension and foster camaraderie.” He gestured at Twilightbloom who just gave Jaeger a massive smile full of all those very sharp looking teeth.
“That’s fair. But we don’t know you that well yet. Good first effort though. Mind if I get her on my team by the way?” He nodded at Twilightbloom then.
“That’s acceptable.” The leader barked at the others in Ravex Battlespeak for a moment as Twilightbloom and three others split off from Goldtalon. The leader began to jog towards the reactor hall then. “Live good, die great comrades.” He gave a parting wave.
“He’s not so bad… Go get em sarge.” Figs nodded as he nudged Kuv to get the xeno to quit preening and start following.
“Seriously. Give Marque a solid nut kicking.” Brandy-Lynn added as she flipped Jaeger off.
“Solid nut kicking.” Jaeger agreed and flipped her off in return. “Twilightbloom who are your friends?” He asked as he glanced over the other commandos.
“Friend Jaeger this is Redpaw, Shadowtail, and Starsparrow.” She introduced the others who each nodded in turn.
“I’ll be honest I’m not going to remember your names. Red. Green. Blue.” He pointed at them and flagged each with the colors in his HUD. “This is Tanya.” He jerked a thumb at Tanya who just stared at them. “Now that we’re all acquainted let's do this. We’re approaching Marque’s command center and resistance has been fairly light considering but if he has any guards left this is going to be where they are. You are all weapons clear and free to fire upon any suspected hostiles. Questions?”
The Ravex all just stared at him. “Great. Tanya.” He nodded and she turned to jog ahead to take point while Jaeger reached out to let Spike climb up his arm and settle back onto his shoulder. Moving past the main cafeteria counter he noticed it must be mediteranian today. Lots of spiced chunks of meat were still slowly rotating on their spits under heat lamps and he saw several trays of falafel. Not to mention some pita, and that yogurt sauce stuff. When was the last time he had a gyro? Fuck was he starving...
Shaking his head to clear the train of thought he focused on the task at hand. Past the main cafeteria was the door to the executive dining room, but a quick glance through showed it was just as empty. Tanya paused as they came up to another junction ahead. “This should be… The final lobby…” Jaeger and the Ravex pressed flat to the sides of the hall as she carefully leaned around the front corner, sweeping the area to look for hostiles. “Looks clear.”
They fanned out as they entered the lobby all of them with weapons up and ready. There was a fancy stone reception desk, and flanking the hall behind it were a number of pillars of worked stone that seemed like some kind of art installation. Jaeger was just looking at them when Spike chirped a warning and he saw the shimmer “DOWN!” He hadn’t even finished yelling the word when Tanya’s body seemed to split in two at the waist, his visor darkening as an explosion consumed her.
Jaeger threw himself flat behind a set of chairs in the waiting area while the Ravex returned fire. Even as they did he heard another explosion go off and a vague scream. Leaning up he was about to fire on the area the others were, but he could already see a great deal of red splattering the area as the smart cloak which had hidden the sniper was torn apart. His focus was shifted then to the hall as he saw figures emerging. More Draugr.
Bracing his rifle on the back of the armchair he just held down the trigger, sweeping the hall. Explosive rounds peppered their bodies as he saw puffs of blood and flesh to confirm his hits. They didn’t even have a chance to fire back as they dropped dead. After reloading he kept covering their bodies for several seconds as he waited to see if there was any more movement or hidden threats. But no one moved, and no one shot. Then he heard Twilightbloom barking out something in Battlespeak. Looking back he saw that she was also covering the hall as Red tried to drag Green’s body behind cover.
His eyes moved to Tanya then… Her upper half at least. She was reaching for her rifle… Slinging his own rifle back he rushed out to grab her and drag her back behind the chairs for cover. But still no one shot at him. “Fuck… Sarge… sorry I dropped my gun… Why… am I so… out of breath? I don’t… need to… breathe.”
Jaeger wanted to pull her helmet off, but he knew it was better to leave it on. “Tanya, system’s report.” He tried to get a sense of what she had… Her torso looked mostly intact but there was an awful lot of red and grey leaking out of the whole where her waist should be. Synth guts, pulsing even as he watched. He felt his own insides seem to tense up a bit at the sight. He had lost friends before… so many of them… Part of his mind knew how to accept it, but he still hated every moment of this. He couldn’t even see her face in case… No. This wouldn’t be the last time. He’d see her later. She’d be fine.
“I… something is… I can’t detect… my legs…” She muttered as her hands began to reach down, as if trying to feel for them.
“They’re over there.” He nodded to her legs in the middle of the lobby. Why did he say that? Lie you bastard. Tell her it’s fine!
“Fuck…” She muttered then tried to push her torso up a bit, as if to sit up. After her hand slipped in her own synth blood though she gave up. “I’ll be… okay… shunting everything to emergency… recovery… I’ll be okay… just wake… me up when… I have a body… again.” Jaeger gripped her hand for a moment, entirely unsure of what else to do. But he felt the pressure ease up before his HUD gave him an emergency SOS from her rig. She’d survive if he could get her hooked up to external power in a few hours. Probably. Fuck.
“TB. Uh Twilightbloom.” He let go of Tanya’s hand then and looked for the Ravex. Move. Advance. Win the day and save Tanya. Don’t think about it. Nothing you can do. Keep going. Get up.
“Hall is still clear.” She declared. No waver in her voice. She was strong. Good. Can’t embarrass yourself in front of the Ravex now. So get up!
“Did…” What was Green’s name? “Your guy make it?” Inconsequential! Stop asking! Get up you bastard!
“No.” She just kept her gun trained on the Hall, unwilling to look away.
“Spike…” Jaeger tapped the bot from his shoulder, unfortunately smearing some of Tanya’s synth blood across his chassis. Jaeger wiped his hand off on his leg then to try and get the blood off. It kind of worked… “Check the bodies. Grab any grenades you find.” The bot Chirped and jumped from his shoulder to scurry out across the lobby. Jaeger pulled his rifle back up and waited. He wasn’t sure he really needed Spike to do this but… his legs didn’t feel like moving just yet. The bot picked across the corpses before scurrying back, a string of grenades wrapped around his body now.
“TB… You have point.” Jaeger called out once Spike was back on his shoulder. The Ravex got up and rushed the stone desk, sliding into cover behind it. Then she peered over the top a moment and let out a bark. Blue rushed up next, bypassing her before posting up at the edge of the hall. “Did you guys bring grenades?” He asked.
Blue just yanked something from his harness and chucked it down the hall. A few seconds later came the explosion. Still nothing seemed to move or shoot at them. Jaeger got up then, running past Twilightbloom to post up on the side of the hall opposite Blue. His legs worked fine. Good. “Spike.” The bot hopped to his other shoulder and leaned around the corner as he got a view of what the bot was seeing in his HUD. Some ruined ceiling lights and a junction going left and right. There was a sign on the wall. Officer Quarters/Command Center to the left… observatory to the right. Did Marque really have an observatory?
“Red.” He called out next and watched the Ravex sprint up the hall and slide into place besides the next junction. The Ravex peered around each corner for a moment and waved them forward. Twilightbloom ran up first and posted up against a corner to check the halls on either side for herself. Jaeger came up behind her with Blue besides him. Glancing around the corner looking towards the command center Jaeger saw another hall of doors on either side. No cover either. “Spike, one grenade per room.”
The bot hopped down off his shoulder and began to scurry forward, running up the walls to quickly pop open each door a crack and then toss in a grenade before running on to the next one. Jaeger and the three Ravex just waited in the cover of the hallway junction. The third door Spike tossed a grenade into started to open a moment before they heard the somewhat muffled explosion. Jaeger focused on it before an arm slipped out of the opening and slid to the ground. One of the Ravex fired a shot into the exposed arm sticking out of the crack in the door. No movement even as it began to bleed.
After the fourth door Spike grenaded two further down the hall opened up. Draugr tried to rush out, realizing that staying inside was sure death but so was rushing the hall as Jaeger and the others just opened fire. One of the Draugr let out a scream as a spray of bullets wildly shot up into the ceiling while he collapsed but the other three were shot down before they could even fire. Spike paused a moment and chirped. “Yes, those rooms too. Just in case.” Jaeger answered.
“I am not a fan of clearing a complex in this manner. Rooms are bitches.” Twilightbloom muttered which caused Jaeger to arch an eyebrow in surprise at her comment.
“Urban combat in general is awful.” He agreed and focused on Spike once more. Spike tossed another grenade into the doors the four Draugr had tried to rush out of, but they didn’t hear any other panicked running. Just as Spike prepared to move on to the next door Jaeger saw it open a crack.
“Non combatant!” The cry made him frown and he kept his rifle trained before he saw an empty hand poke out. Then shortly after another one. “Don’t shoot!” The hands weren’t very large, and were rather feminine. Though he was well aware that meant nothing with the assassin bots Marque might have.
“Come out! Slow!” Jaeger called. After a moment the door opened wider, the hands still sticking out as best they could. A person took a hesitant step out of the room. Slim female figure. Looked to be a woman in her twenties. Light brown hair, fairly slim, basic slacks, and a blouse. Light office attire. Probably just off the rack Dress Barn. Possibly Target.
“I’m unarmed!” She insisted and took another obviously nervous step into the hall with her hands raised.
“Spike, top down scan.” He called out as much for the woman’s benefit as to command the bot. With a chirp the bot scurried forward and began to climb up her body.
“Ow. Ow ow! Owww!” The woman gasped and flinched as Spike climbed up her legs and then torso to perch on her shoulder. She was quivering and if she was acting she was doing a very good job. After a moment Spike chirped out. Baseline human far as he could tell.
“Who are you and what are you doing here?” Jaeger asked next, his gun still trained on her.
“I’m just a tutor! For Alexie! Mr. Malinovsky said if you made it this far to surrender myself and his son and remind you of… some deal!” Alexie? Was that Marque’s son’s name? After his great grandfather? That seemed right…
“Spike, room.” Jaeger called out and the bot jumped from the woman’s shoulder to latch onto the wall and peek inside. Jaeger checked the vid feed. Table, chairs, couch, vid screen, bed. There on the bed was a boy, he looked a bit big for what? Nine? Ten? But he was a Synth and he supposed Marque would have designed him to be bigger than average. He was sitting on the bed, a tablet in his hand that he was focused on. Watching something to distract him from what was happening outside? His features did remind Jaeger of Marque a little. But his hair was black and there was some other mix in there… Ham had thought Marque was dating Kotaru Sasaki. This did… fit.
“On the ground.” He called out and the woman slowly dropped down onto the floor. “Ankles crossed, hands stretched out above your head.” He watched the woman obey and then glanced over at the Ravex besides him. “Blue, do you have zipties?”
“Negative.” The big xeno rumbled. Jaeger patted his rig for a moment and pulled out a small wad of the things to hand over. Without asking Twilightbloom began to advance, her gun trained on the woman while Blue moved up past her. Crouching above her the xeno gave her a quick pat down and then swiftly ziptied her wrists and ankles. “No weapons.” He confirmed.
“Blue, you stay here and guard her and the boy.” Jaeger ordered.
“Why? The command center is the goal. This target has no strategic value.” The Ravex replied. Before Jaeger could even form a counter argument Twilightbloom stepped up and roared in his face.
Jaeger didn’t know their language but his suit helpfully translated her words as something along the lines of “Don’t embarrass me in front of my friend!” Before smacking the other Ravex upside the head. Blue flinched and gave a growl back for a moment but then just stood up, hauled the tutor off the ground and turned to toss her onto the couch inside the room. “Don’t worry Jaeger I set him straight.” Twilightbloom promised as Blue stepped inside the door without another word. Past him Alexie glanced up from his tablet on the bed but didn’t seem otherwise concerned.
“Alright… Let's keep going.” Jaeger was down to Spike, TB, and Red. This was not even remotely close to the way he figured a final showdown with Marque was going to turn out. Even as he thought about that the lights flickered, then died. A moment later emergency power kicked on but it wasn’t a good sign. “Figs, Brandy-Lynn sitrep?”
“FUUUUUUUCK! WHY AM I HERE!” Jaeger winced as Kuv’s voice screeched across his comms. “SO MANY BULLETS!” There was quite a bit of gunfire going on in the background.
“Stiff resistance sarge. We’re fine. Don’t mind panic Pete here.” He heard Brandy-Lynn a moment later. “Reactor won’t go critical or nothin now. Promise. Also Figs lost a leg. He’s pretty mad about it. Hilarious stuff. Talk later. Love you. Smooch smooch. COVERING FIRE!” The call cut as he heard her trident opening up on what he presumed to be some Draugr.
“Okay. Well… It’s just us then. I have no idea who Marque might have around him. This could be a suicidal last stand… or he might be alone. Just… be alert.” Jaeger said to the others who nodded.
“I’m with you Jaeger!” Twilightbloom very cheerfully replied.
“I’m just following orders.” Red much less cheerfully announced. “But I don’t mind killing more humans.”
“Yes sir. I do make the best friends.” Jaeger muttered and just shook his head as he began to jog up the hall. If this was like Edenshard then the command center was just up ahead. The door was sealed shut as he approached, but that likely wasn’t going to be an issue. “Echo.” He said aloud as Spike tried to ping, but as he expected nothing came back. “Alright…” He backed up then and looked up at the wall around the door.
“The maintenance hatch used to be right…” Jaeger jumped up and slapped part of the wall, making a panel that was flush with the rest of it pop open. It wasn’t nearly big enough for a person. But that wasn’t the point. “Still got it.” He grinned and held his arm out toward Twilightbloom. “TB, do you mind giving Spike a lift?”
“Sure thing Jaeger! Hi Spike!” Twilightbloom held out a hand as the bot quickly moved along Jaeger’s arm and then hopped onto her hand. “Here ya go!” She lifted her hand up and Spike quickly crawled into the open hatch. Jaeger stepped to the side of the main door then as he waited and watched Spike’s view. Maybe Spike could get the drop on Marque and just give him a breech charge bolt to the face? That would be nice… Jaeger wouldn’t even mind if Spike got the kill.
For now though what he mostly saw was paneling. Wires. Vent. Wires. So many damn wires. He understood that everything had to be hooked up. After all this was the command center but holy shit so many wires. Crushed soda can, empty pack of cigarettes, more wires, another vent. This time Spike paused to look down a moment and finally give him a view of the room below.
It looked pretty much exactly like he expected it to look. Same command center layout. This time there were some cracks in the foundation however, and several destroyed computer terminals. Though it wasn’t clear if they were destroyed earlier or if someone wrecked them out of anger. What was of much more concern was the dozen or so Draugr positioned around the command center, all focused on the door. With the power out he didn’t see any security cam footage so they must just be waiting for them to open the door.
But where was Marque? Back of the room… The vid screen switched through a few different modes as Spike scanned the area but Jaeger had already seen it. Someone in a smart cloak was standing below one of the emergency lights in the back. Specifically up in the back corner that didn’t have a line of sight on the door, and that conversely no one from the door would be able to shoot at directly. A good spot for someone who intended to use the rest of the men in the room as canon fodder so they could ambush anyone who actually made it inside. Total Marque position.
Smart cloaks were extremely impressive, when they hadn’t been torn apart by bullets or explosives, but they still had trouble in odd lighting conditions like this. Especially from high vantage points where one could see the shadows didn’t quite line up correctly. If Marque had been in the field as much as he liked to think he probably would have known this.
The question now was how the hell did they get into the room? Or rather… how did they do it without dying? Jaeger was mildly surprised Marque didn’t have a secret escape hatch or something other such contrivance to run away through. Perhaps his arrogance had forbid such a measure. What about a bot for Spike to drop on and hack into? Jaeger was only seeing Draugr. Hack the turrets? Spike looked up from the vent and continued to scurry through the maintenance panels in the ceiling. No sign of turrets.
Did he even need to do this? The battle outside was still ongoing but it would end. If Marque was still here why would it matter if Jaeger killed him now or with backup? Of course he had forced Jaeger into killing his wife. Then done it, again. Jaeger did want to kill him. Right? Plus he needed to get the codes to unlock the Absolute Dynamics encryption cypher… thing. He could turn those assets to his purposes… His purposes.
Jaeger’s vision unfocused slightly as he realized why he was hesitating so much right now. Fear. Not a fear of death, since he had long ago come to grips with his own mortality. But a much more insidious and nebulous fear. Something that had gnawed at him with greater frequency lately. Killing Marque was his only concrete and objective goal. When the war had ended he had retreated into isolation to follow the last order Leona had given him. Survive and raise their kids. But all that had happened recently showed isolation wasn’t going to work. The world around him would keep moving on and if he didn’t take an active part in it… Well it would be shittier for his kids that’s for sure. And shittier for everyone who wasn’t a fascist prick worshiping Marque.
Yet, making the world better… How the fuck was he supposed to do that? His entire life had been focused on being a soldier, and then a father. He wasn’t supposed to be a commanding officer. He was just… sarge. He was good at that part but… He looked around a moment at Twilightbloom and Red. Would Leona have made it this far with… absolutely no plan? She’d have been better. Ordered some of the bots to follow them. Or create an army. Or just… be better than him.
Once Marque was dead it was the end of any true goal he had with a truly discernable end. After this it was just… keep raising his kids but now in someplace they could meet other kids. And… try to make the world better… And then… die. Possibly of old age. Likely from something else. Once they breached the room and killed Marque… That was it.
Perhaps now, far closer to his death than his birth he should accept a great deal of life is supposed to be like that. Unsure and entirely confused about how to do the right thing. There was a great run of time where he didn’t have to think, and could just kill people. But that had ended in the apocalypse. Plus didn’t he keep doing all he could to foster critical thinking skills in his kids? They’d sure be surprised to know he struggled with that very concept even now. Marque did need to die. The codes had to be retrieved. And it would be easier to sneak those out if it was just him. Twilightbloom, and Red over there. Time to accept uncertainty…
Then it hit him. Revive Leona! That had a very objective end goal! He let out a deep and heavy breath that he didn’t realize he had been holding in. “Okay. I have a plan. How many grenades do you have?”
“I have eighteen.” Twilightbloom immediately replied.
“Eighteen? What the fuck?” Jaeger gasped out.
“I have a dozen.” Red added.
“Wh- Why the hell do you have so many grenades? You guys never used to carry anywhere near that many!” Jaeger was entirely surprised by this turn of events.

2020.07.23 20:14 Bertie54 Once mistrust is in your head you are contaminated for the rest of your life!

I (66M) am rather new on Reddit but i already read some very interesting topics and commented on a few, so now i want to share my story to show and put many of you on guard for the poision mistrust is. This post risks to be long so be patient and also please understand that English is not my mothertongue.
My story starts many, many years ago when i was still a teenager and met this girl at the local church where her parents were the tennants of a gathering house (bar) where the churchmembers could come and talk, have a drink and eventually play the French game "petanque" which was populair where we lived. She was 14 at that time and i 16. Long soty short we started to be good friends and after one year and a helf we strated dating and after a period of 5 years i officially asked her father the permission to marry her. We started very well and had two kids in this marriage who are now 43(F) and 41(M) and have their own families.
At a certain point in life when my kids were teens and in what we call them "the difficult years" i noticed some strange behaviour from my wife, contsting everything, not into physical things anymore ans often distant when we were together. I worked as a civil srvant at that time and was also still studying to get a degree in Criminology.
I was always home, helped her cooking diner, helped with the kids, homework, my entire salary was for the household so in other words i was at my place as a father and a husband.
The only personal thing i had was with a friend of mine going to shows and exhibitions for models trains. We were quit close to that couple who had 4 kids of their own but all younger than ours.
I could also always count on that friend to help us out with transport if for some reason i could not make it on time to pick my kids or wife from school or work.I was therefor not alarmed when he started to propose more often to pick her(my wife) up so i could go for the kids and be home faster.
It was only till the day, a Sunday morning, i remember it as it was yesterday, that i caught them in the act at my place. My wife and i had very nice Sundaymorning sex and i left completely pumped up with adrenaline to pick my daugther i was babysitting at friends of ours.
I came home at 09:30h with her and although my friend and i were supposed to go the a model train ghatering that morning and agreed that he would pick me up at 10:00 AM that morning, his car was already standing in front of my door when i came home.
At that moment i had this so cllaed "elbowfeeling" and asked my daugther to be very quiet and i openeder the front door with my key as silent as possible. Once the door open i could see them standing in the kitschen, she only wearin her thong, her hand on his crotch, he touching her tits and his tongue exploring her mouth. We entered at the precise moment that she unzipped him so i could imagine what the plan was, she was probably going to sing a song in that pink microphone of his.
Of course they immediately saw us and they freaked out. Certainly because of the look my teenage daugther had on her face and with what kind of desbelief and disgust she looked at her mother.I told them "I am sorry for you guys but i saw it" they could of course not deny it because they were caught in the act, so speaking.I went close to them and asked her "why" i was mad as heel but even more at him because he was my closest friend and i lost that too. I gave hiom my trust and heart as i gave my wife and they both betrayed my big time. I didn't get physical but asked him to leave mu house and never come back again and i warned him that i would call his wife to tell her and warn her what kind of husband he was.
Afterwards i heard he called her immediately to tell her that when she received a call from me that it was all unthrue what i was going to tell and he and i had an argument and that was my pâyback.
I tried to talk to my wife and asked her how she could that with even my semen of the morning sex still in her belly. She could not really answer me but there was some vague explanation of having nothing else in her life because of the two of us being together already at a very young age and that she felt to be trapped in a familysituation that was going to be the same till the day we died.
She promised that it would not happen again. I was devastated and although i saw some guys in my workenvironment who cheatd on their wifes and still had their family as nothing happended, i who was a faithfull husband and (i hope) good father was cheated on and lost my trust and belief in the values of marriage and the life as spouses. My world was falling apart and i didn't know how to handle this.
I became very silent and the physical interaction between the two of us stopped completely. That was because of me because i felt so disgusted that i was close to ask her to take ten showers a day to get his scent and touch of her body. I honestly could not tell if that hurted her or not because she never spoke about it and didn't ask for it either, she understood i resent her for it.
Concerning the friend, his wife didn't believe him because she had some suspition too and not only regarding my wife but also in the past because everytime they lost friends with whom theyr were close and now she understood why. All communication with them was cut off.
We moved on for a couple of years like that and me, being the forgiving kind of person contacted this friend one day because i missed him and we had a talk. He explained me the bad situation in his marriage and he was not able to ventilate his feelings at that time and my wife for some reason being vulnerable at that time answered his desires.Although we never went back to his house to meet hif family he sometimes came by but only when i was home. One day, i was studying for my degree and my wife was hoovering the house downstairs. My "friend" promised me to bring some papers and he arrived when i was upstairs and my wife cleaning downstairs? I heard her stopping the vacuumcleaner but i didn't really hear a con versation. So i assumed that he dropped of the papers and went away immediately. When i cam down from the stairs they were standing togteher having an apparently very silent conversation. When he saw me he said hello and excused himself that he could not stay and took of immediately.
My wife completley out of the blue and something she never did, told me she had to go urgently to her grnadmother in a nearby town and left her vacuumcleaner on the ground where she left it answering the door. Ina couple of minutes she was gone and drove of with her car.
I don't know why but i had again the elbowfeeling and i also drove of to drive to the granmothers appartment.
When i was almost at that appartment i saw my wife parking her car at the condo next to the one of her grandma and where her favortie aunt had an appartment. My alarmbells were ringing very loud because i knew that aunt was on holiday and my wife had the key of that appartment to give water to her flowers during her absence. One minute later i saw my friend leaving his car at e parkingspot like 15 yeards away from the condo and walked towards her.
I understood immediately what they were up too, she was going to have sex with him in her aunt's appartment hidden from everyone. I didn't wat to give them that opportunity and drove to my wife's car and parked immediately after her. She saw it was my in her mirror and i saw the pânic in her eyes. He also saw my car and fastly returned to his and drove off.
She didn't even try to deny it anymore and went immediately home with me. Needless to say how tensed things were but she kept taking care of the household and stay home. Untill one day i got this letter from court me being served because she filed for a divorce. The day she left, she left me behind with the two adolescent kids we have, most of the furniture for me taken out and without even greeting our son who was still in bed after a hard day work.
I rasied my kids by myself and i always took care that our house was clean that i was clean on myself and not beging the type fo guy going to basr to pity myself and to interact with other human beings.I stayed at home taking care that my children had everything they need but i could not replace their mother. They wer very mad at her and didn't want any contact.
I on the other hand encouraged them to contact her because they on ly have one mother in their lives and that they would regret later on if they didn't. It took over one year but they finally did and they are now very gratefull that the listened to my advise.
I was so disgusted again because after her first failure i was trying to lake things work out staying the same father and husband as before with exception of the physical contact because i could not bear to touch her again.
I stayed alone for 4 years tried from time to time to accept invitations of friends to go to a party where some of them tried to hook me up with one or other desperate woman but i was not interested. I didn't trust any woman anymore and i didn't want to have this casual sex with them just out of revenge on the women of the earth? that's just not me!
My Sunday routine was waking up, doing my morning excercise, taking a shower, going to the kitchen, prepare the coffee percolator and go to the bakery shop to buy some freshly baken buns, which i used to serve her on bed on Sundaymornings. Then i came back, had breakfast and cleaned up the kitchen and was just taking the day as it came.
Untill that particular Sunday that i came home from the bakery shop, opening an drawer and taking my cup for coffee. I stared at it and i threw it in thousand pieces against the wall.
That was the precise moment that i was tired of only taking "one" cup out of the drawer, i wanted to take, one for a SO and one for me. Nos i think hta was the moment i was done with my grief and ready to move one, i was again open to a relationship and wanted to restart my life. In the mean time, my kids were old enough and left the house so i was ther all by myself, becasue, and i omitted to teel you this, during court for the divorce tha judge was a woman, my wife's lawyer was a woman and my lawyer was late, so i thought "i am scr... here" but not at all, my wife "lost" the sessions and had to give me stuuf back and pay me some money. I refused both because i was the moral winner although in these kind of stories there are no winners.
So me being open for a realtionship started to date but that was not that obvious. I lost my touch a little and some of these women had a list of question and often the second and third question was if i had a good job whit a nice income and if i owned the house i was living in. Some of them even called me thet day after because i said no tot the traditional question to come up and have a "coffee". These women called me to ask if they were not attractive and why i didn't want to come up because in fact they wanted to get laid. But i, you can call me old fashion, was not into that untill i had real feeling for someone.
After i while i met my current wife with whom i am married now for 18 years (by the way, first marriage was five years of courtship and 23 years of marriage). My current wife is a very extrovert person and mathematics schoolteacher anbd doesn't sometime detect the signals and red flags i am seeying when a male co-worker becomes too flirty. For her being in her late fifthies, it shows that she is still noticed and not an average matrone. Me with the backpack of my previous experience i am very picky on these things and i understand that it can sometimes be sufficating for her. She is from another country and often is on the phone with her former colleagues in her country and posting all kind of stuff on facebook and their own kind of facebook. And often she tells me that men are writing to her hoping to get acquainted. When she shows me i see that most of these men are way much younger than me and way more good looking.
But with that backpackage i have and that feeling of mistrust in my head i sometimes got overcontroling and (i know it is bad) snooping at her phone. Certainly now because her son, she has from a former marriage before she became a widow, is cheating on his wife and jeopardizing his family life with his wife and daugther of 4. My wife says she is devastated by this situation and feels the need to talk about this via facebook or whatsapp with two of her male co-workers who are younger and single. When she is liking the picture these guys are posting she uses the heart symbol and for everyone else, me included it is alwasy the thumbs up symbol.
Again although this can be meaningless it raises red flags at my side. Recently she had to work from home on line because of the Civid-19 confinement and after class they had a meeting with the colleagues and the head of the school (on line) to discuss the progress and evaluate the kids whom the have in their classroom. They are having these meeting thru a special for the school on line system with the possibility of using a webcam which they can use privately for one on one discussions. So she was communicating with one of these two male co-workers who is really the kind of guy women fall for and their conversation was held via whatsapp together with what they did or not do via the camera. This to avoid that othser were going to see what was written is the special school system was used for texting. So because she was a little sloppy after the meeting she left her phone open and i coluld their conversation via whatsapp and he was really flirty and although she didn't respond in the beginning she strated to change a little the tone of her answers when he asked her if she hadn't a female friend that he could start to date. She sent the guy a picture on which she was with that female friend and asked hiom if that was ok, that lady being single. The guy responded that he preferred her above that female friend because she was prettier (which is true by the way) than apparently she asked him to shut his camera what made him respind i was just about to strip for her and that she would have to come to his house to see it in real. Ajthough she declined that immediately the reason she gave was not because she found it in appropriate but because he lives that far and because of his comments on the pictures of her female friend, she wrote to him that it was difficult for a woman to meet up his standards, that it was a pity that both of them didn't meet them because of their age (he apparently prefers them younger) which made him reply that for her he would make an exception. She called him completely crazy. That's where the conversation stopped and apparently the online meeting strated. Since that day (the 25th of June) there was no further communication between them, not by phone, whatsapp or any other social media channel i know she has. If something is hidden i will not know of course.
Anyway i felt very annoyed and nervous about it, and when i am in that stae i shut down completely. After a while she noticed but thought first it had to do with the business being very slow due to Corona and creating some serious financial challenges, but afterwards she asked me what it was because she saw a change in my behaviour and that she saw i was unhappy.
I told her immediately, and she was stunned about the fact that i snooped in her phone but took it immediately, opened it and asked me what i wanted to see. I told her and she opened it and nothing was deleted, all the messages i saw before were still there. I asked her if she thought it was appropriate to have this kind of conversation with this male co-worker and that it would jeopardize my trust even more when there were these last minute meetings at school after normal class hours. I never had any problem with these, or maybe a little bit of concern but then her behaviour at home was still loving and as the one from a loving spouse. She evene showed me without me asking for iut, her facebook account and the request for friendship she dayly receives from men al over the world. And indeed i could see that none of these request were answered and she even deleted them in my presence. About the conversation with her co-worker she was not seeying the problem and said this was harmless flirting behaviour because this guy was known as a hunter for females. She had no interest what so ever in this guy and reassured me that she never cheated on my and will never do. I tried to explain her that cheating can have different forms and it doesn't alway require physical contact, it can be intellectual as i explained her that it hurt me that seh conversated with these guys about the situation her son is in, instead of with me, her husband.
But that syory is to show that the trust that was taken away from me by my first wife, still isn't restored completely and it affected my behaviour towards my current wife. I tried to tell her that and then she became angry and shouthed at me that she was not (first wifes name) !! she left going for a long walk with the dog saying she left her phone with me in cae i wanted to investigate something else and to avoid i would suspect her texting or calling one of these guys while having that walk.
I feel sorry for her but i can't help it and now i am hooked to all these stories i read on Reddit, i constantly am watching the TV shows from all, kind of different countries , kind of reality shows where they set up people to catch them as cheaters. It is like i am hooked or became an addict to that kind of shows everytime to convince myself that women cheat a lot on their husbands. I know it is irrational ans absloutely not the entire thruth but i can't help it. I sometime spend 7 to 8 hours a day watching all this and reading Reddits. Sometimes till i totally got fucked up and start to get mad and start to have a headache.
This to warn you all, i know i will have to work on this seriously but for the moment i can't stop it and i am afraid that if it continues it will harm my marriage and possibly end it.

Any reflection on this?

2020.07.23 17:12 arxero Cam hidden alone

I recently completed a full rewatch of SG1. All episodes, no skipping around. (Continuum & Ark as well) and I had a bunch of thoughts, might as well blab them to whomever might listen I guess.

Overall thoughts:
Goddamn I love this series. It's cheery, action-packed, thought provoking, funny, dramatic when it needs to be, it's just great. Great characters. Every members of SG1 is fantastic (Including Jonas/Vala/Cam [Cam being the weakest, imo]). Hammond of Texas for life.
---------------------------------------------------------
Favorite SG-1 Episodes:
- Space Race - My god was this a breath of fresh air. I could spend 10 episodes with this storyline alone. So cool. And featuring Carter being a badass as always. And the sponsor commercials were hilarious. 13 year old me watched this while I was playing Extreme-G and XGRA and it was so similar I loved it.
- Urgo - Because, duh. tRyYY tHhE PAdDleS!!
- Wormhole X-Treme (100) & "200" - Because, again, duh.
- Heroes Part 1 & Part 2 - As a 13 year old kid, I had no thoughts beyond "wow this documentary maker guy as an asshole, fuck that guy!" But now.....oof......this episode is as real as it gets. One of the most dramatic of the entire series imo. The speeches and monologues about transparency within government and what the people deserve to know.....wow do those resonate right now. No one will ever be able to replace Dr. Fraser, she was a fantastic and heartwarming character. Why did she leave the show?
- Affinity - Teal'c beating the crap out of some fuccboi angry tailgating drivers on the streets with "Who's The Man!?" blaring in the background stands out as one of the most badass scenes in the entire series, imo. (Along with Tealc PI, of course)
- The Lost City - Still so damn cool after all this time. O'Neill getting straight to business, heartwarming moments, and the first time we get an all-out Earth vs. Goauld battle. I could eat up the 302's / Prometheus battling Alkesh and Gliders alllllll day long.
- Citizen Joe - Easily the best of the "clipshow" episodes. Hilarious.
- s10e14 (Don't know the title) - This episode definitively proves, without a doubt, how integral RDA was to this series. He comes back on screen and it feels like you get a piece of your heart back. He absolutely made this series what it was in S1-8 and is sorely missed.

13-Year old me also shamelessly watched scenes of Sha're getting undressed on repeat. Oops. The shame.
---------------------------------------------------------
- Best Bad Guy: As a kid: Hathor, she scared the shit out of me, dunno why. As an adult: Ba'al for sure. Charismatic, cunning, and evil. I just wish he had that iconic katana-blade (Continuum) during the main series. he straight up shaves Apophis' brainbox clean off. So badass. Replicarter takes third. I could've watched a whole two seasons of Earth dealing with her. Carter made a great bad-guy.
- Worst Bad Guy: Adria. Dear god. So bland / Lucian Alliance - Aldi-Brand Goauld
- Most Hated Bad Guy: Sen. Kinsey (Duh) or the guy who plays Q
- Best Good Guy: Tealc - always knows what's right and wrong. Always gets shit done. Undomesticated equines.
- Worst Good Guy: Any Tokra except Jacob / Martouf. Pricks, arrogant, always had hidden motives. Always some hidden BS that ended up getting the Tauri into trouble. / Rodney McKay dear god what a fucking prick this guy is in SG1. Not to mention he straight up grabs a fistful of civilian-Carter's ass during the time travel episode. So fucking creepy to see in this day & age. How they redeem this character in Atlantis is beyond me. He's disgusting, arrogant as fuck, annoying, and never lets anyone finish a sentence. Nothing about him was likable on screen. Give me Jonas Quinn over this guy any day of the week.
- Nicest Good Guy: Saul from Saul's diner.
- Funniest Character: Jack O'Neill bar none. / Vala is a close second / Urgo / Nerus (Fatman Goauld)
---------------------------------------------------------
Seasons 9 & 10..........
Oh man, where do I begin. 9/10 are good, don't get me wrong, but man are they different. I read a post here the other day mentioning that 9/10 were supposed to be an entirely different series titled "Stargate Command" and it really makes sense.
- S1-8 is a fun ride of mostly self-contained episodes with a loose overall arc and that's what made it great. S9-10 follows the modern-day conventions of one/two overall arcs that we deal with every episode. Ori / Free Jaffa / Lucian Alliance and that's it. It gets fatiguing pretty fast when every episode is "HALLOWED ARE THE ORI HALLOWED ARE THE ORI" some sniveling Alliance dude, or the Free Jaffa being distrustful of the Tauri.
- The Tokra (arrogant as they were) are mostly gone, only mentioned in passing.
- The Asgard (save for the last few episodes) are nonexistant, only mentioned in passing.
- The Free Jaffa absolutely suck. Every episode with them is "haha KREE, my dude, yeah I know the Tauri were instrumental in freeing us from literal slavery and slaughtering our oppressors but I just.....don't.....TRUST THEM, THEY ARE THE ENEMY (FOR SOME REASON!) YEAH MAN KREE, I TOTALLY AGREE FUCK THE TAURI" Constant bickering, mind control this.....influence that.....politics... Not to mention the Jaffa we see on-screen during S8-onwards are markedly less threatening looking than earlier seasons. It's like they told all the intimidating buff-as-fuck Jaffa to go home.
Self-contained "explore this new planet" episodes are few and far between.
- Vala, however, is a fantastic addition to the show. Breath of fresh air character that doesn't occupy a spot already held by a previous SG team member. I love this character.
- Mitchell is.....not Col. O'Neill. He just doesn't fill the shoes, or any shoes tbh. His character is......just ok. And his "that's what I'm talkin' 'bout" line and constant references to his grandma are extremely cringey"
- Landry is......not General Hammond. Far from it. His character goes from an absolute hardass with no humor and then makes a sudden switch to humor and caring from S9 to S10.
- New Doctor(s) are.......not Janet, that's for sure. Makes you miss her kinda...warm? presence. She was great.
There's also a bunch of passing references to Atlantis / Atlantis tech / Pegasus Ships / characters that will definitely pass right over the heads of anyone watching SG1 for the first time unless they watch Atlantis alongside.
The Ori are a great enemy that get dealt with entirely too quickly. (Due to the show being canceled, I get it.) They're easily a 4-season enemy. But once Earth develops the Anti-Prior device it's basically all over. They go from "oh shit these dudes basically ARE gods" to "nah here's a little disc that negates all that". And once we get to the "ok you have all the Asgard tech now"-episode, all Earth's ships are OP-as-fuck. The Ori Ships / followers / overall design are fantastic.
The 3D rendered gate for the S9-10 intro sequence is verryyyyyy dated looking. Eek.
All in all, Seasons 9 & 10 make me wish we got 5 more seasons of season 1-8 SG1 with 9/10's budget (plus Vala). My god that would've been amazing.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Continuum - A nice fun little side-story with some absolutely amazing visuals and music. The shots of Ba'al's fleet bombing the entire planet while SG1 flys across the continent in F22's are so. damn. cool.
I'll gush about the cinematography again, just because. The visuals hit different in this movie. They're so good looking. Especially scenes like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCCkKfTVEy4
The Ark of Truth - Wrapped the Ori story as well as you could hope with a single movie, I guess. Adria still sucks and isn't any more threatening than she was during Season 9/10, despite her claiming she now has all the combined powers of the Ori. The final fight between Morgan / Adria is laughable.

**EDIT*** - How could I forget! The Audio! I'm an Audio Engineer after all. Damn I feel dumb for forgetting. SG1 has absolutely FANTASTIC sound design. Props to all involved. As iconic as Star Trek and Star Wars (Unlike Star Wars though, sound design is consistent, even down to individual weapons-fire). Almost every sound is satisfying. And of course, the score is fantastic as well.
Best Sound Design: Zat Gun / Anti-Replicator-Gun / Ha'tak Planetary Bombardment - The latter of which is absolutely terrifying, especially during the destruction of Tollana and during Continuum's attack on Earth.
The Zats do look kinda like a weird phallus, but my god what I wouldn't give to have on in real life. I think they're cooler than the staff weapons, imo.
Overall, of course. I love this series and now it's onto Atlantis! I'm already a few episodes in and to be honest.....I miss SG1. SG1 is the best of them all, imo. I miss Carter, I miss Daniel, I miss O'Neill (the most), I miss Vala, I miss Tealc, I miss Hammond of Texas (may he rest in peace). Cheers yall!

2020.07.22 18:54 rasenShurikeno Hidden cam alone

My pitch for the MCU Spider-Man 3 is a bit of a darker story. Honestly, I believe that it can still have a few of the classic MCU humor in it, but the main story is a bit more serious, but with the whole identity reveal thing, i think that tone shift is justified and appropriate. I think that it clashes nicely with Far From Home's more light-hearted toned in a great way.
Here goes:

SPIDER-MAN: HOME INVASION
PROLOGUE
We open on the big screen airing the Daily Bugle news report outing Peter Parker as Spider-Man and as a criminal. We shift to Peter’s reaction as he is booed by nearby New Yorkers. He looks at a stunted MJ who tells him to run. He starts swinging frantically as every screen he passes by shows his picture and J. Jonah Jameson badmouthing him. As he keeps swinging, we get quick shots of his friends and other relevant characters reacting to news report. We go back to Spidey, who gets a call from an hysterical May, whom he tells to pack her bags and wait for him, He hears police sirens in the distance as the screen cuts to black.
(Marvel Studios logo, but no sound)
ACT I
The shot opens on a snowy rooftop. “3 months later” flashes in the screen.
We get to know that Peter has been living in an abandoned building and is still active as Spider-Man, despite being wanted by the police, who are still actively searching for him. His suits are all mostly ruined, with Peter using these broken ones for parts to maintain his web-shooters. The only good suit he still has is the black stealth suit, having been modified and simplified, which he dons for the first two acts. We also learn Aunt May has been safely living in a safehouse thanks to Happy, but is in a very depressed state due to Peter’s situation. SHIELD is also unreachable, so Peter is pretty much alone on this one.
Peter heads out in his suit and we get a look at his daily routine. He patrols the city like he used to, but he does it in a more stealthy way so as not to be seen by helicopters or random civilians. We see him carefully swinging and jumping from snowy rooftop to snowy rooftop, taking care of petty crime.
We also see him watching over MJ, Ned and his classmates from a distance. We see how his school has taken multiple precautions with raised security. We see MJ, Ned, Betty and, surprisingly, Flash, handing out flyers advocating for Peter’s innocence and condemning the Daily Bugle’s false reports and gotcha journalism (Flash’s reasons being that he can’t fathom Puny Parker being his personal hero Spider-Man).
Peter notices a signal that Ned makes him as he looks at his watch. We seem them meet up, later on, on Times Square (where there are a lot of people, making it easier to hide in plain sight). Peter has a disguise on.
They chat as Ned hands him a bag with food and other supplies and updates him on how things are going at school. He reveals to Peter that MJ has taken an internship in the Bugle as a way to get access to their information and expose their lies. This makes Peter smile and reminisce how awesome she is and how ironic it is that her first journalism job, which is her dream job, would be in a news site that she so despises. Ned shows a lot of concern about Peter’s situation and asks him if he believes everything will go back to normal. Peter reassures him by saying that soon enough this will all blow out and everything will be OK. However, Peter is clearly not convinced about his own words.
Just as he says this, a press conference with NY newly elected Mayor Norman Osborn appears in a nearby screen. They listen to him commenting on the Spider-Man situation and how the NYPD, led by Captain George Stacy is doing everything in its power to apprehend the web-head. Another reporter asks him about the enormous bounty put on Peter Parker’s head, which he declines to comment on. Osborn finishes the press conference by stating that he is going to have a special rally in Madison Square Garden, in two days, to benefit those still affected by the destruction caused by the Elementals and Spider-Man. Ned tells Peter that the rally will be covered by MJ and another Daily Bugle reporter and that Peter should be looking out for her. Peter tells him he planned to anyway, seeing how such a big event can be target for all sorts of crimes. They keep watching the press conference on the screen as the shot shifts to that same conference on a small TV in a dark room. It’s being watched by a man who we don’t see much of besides his back and his hand holding a gun. He gets up, holsters the gun and picks up a spear. He heads out of the room, passing by a board filled with info about Spider-Man and many of his friends, family and allies.
The following evening Peter is headed to his hideout before hearing multiple sirens gathering in a nearby bank. He realizes a robbery is going on and heads there. There are many police officers there, including George Stacy, and Peter recognizes the robber as none other than Mac Gargan, who is wearing a green armor with a mechanical tail. He is calling himself the Scorpion. By the time Peter gets there, he has killed two policemen, one by stabbing him with his tail and the other using an acid that his tail launches. Peter decides to intervene and fights Scorpion and we see how far along Peter’s fighting ability has grown in the past months. Peter is able to take down Scorpion, but only after being hit pretty hard a few times and stabbed. He webs up Scorpion and looks around to see citizens just as afraid of him as they were of Scorpion. He is surrounded by the Police as Captain Stacy orders him to back down and give himself up. Peter uses a gadget he made using parts from his Iron Spider suit (which we see him build in the opening scene) to shutdown their guns and webs them up before fleeing. Captain Stacy looks on and wonder why this infamous killer had the chance to take out a big chunk of the NYPD and didn’t even try.
As Peter flees, we see the same mysterious man with the spear, standing on the rooftop, simply watching, learning more about Spider-Man.
Peter reaches his hideout and passes out, wounded and exhausted.
ACT II
Peter wakes up, to his surprise, with bandages and his wounds taken care of. He looks over to find MJ. He is stunned to see her and questions how she found him. She reveals she had a tracking device put on the bag he got from Ned. She tells him he needs to be more careful for these things if he’s going to be on the run forever (sarcasm). They talk more, joking about MJ being a secret agent so as to justify her having tracking devices, with her responding she learnt it from YouTube. We get some more of this banter between the two. They get more serious and discuss what Peter plans to do so as to clean his name. This transitions into Peter asking her about her Bugle job. Peter even compliments her articles, saying he admires them and quite enjoys her pen-name: “Mary Jane Watson”. She tells him she’s being mentored by an editor in the Bugle called Robbie Robertson, who unlike J. Jonah Jameson is an actual great journalist. However, so far, she has been unable to find proof of the tampering of the London footage and Mysterio’s confession, as they were sent just like that to the Bugle by an unknown source. So, there’s nothing on the Bugle that can be used to help him. At least, nothing that she has found so far.
MJ tells Peter she has something very important to tell him, but before she can say it, Peter kisses her and tells her how much he’s missed her. They share a moment, and then MJ simply tells him that important thing she wants to tell him is that she’ll be at the Osborn rally the next day and hopes he can watch over her from afar. They smile and continue their moment (MJ decides to wait to tell him the real important thing).
Meanwhile, we see Mac Gargan in a prison cell, without his suit. It’s silent, but not for long as a guard comes to his cell, shoots the other guard in close range and frees Mac. The guard takes out a mask, in a similar way to how Black Widow did in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, to reveal a white, plastic face. He places another mask over his plastic face, assuming the face of Dmitri from Far From Home. He hands Mac two bags, one containing his suit and the other containing money. They leave the station, revealing a trail of knocked out police officers as Dmitri thanks Mac for his “distraction”. Mac asks him what’s next, to which Dmitri responds: “We wait.”.
The next day, the Osborn rally is starting and Spidey finds a good spot to look over the event while remaining hidden from the police. He looks to the crowd and quickly spots MJ. Norman Osborn appears on stage and is greeted with a huge cheer. The crowd loves him. While Norman talks about his desire to reinforce security and research military upgrades to the police and military with the help of his private company Oscorp, Peter’s spider sense goes off and he tries to find the source of danger. He sees a sniper on a rooftop pointing at Mayor Osborn. He rushes to stop him and therefore blows his cover. He shoots a web at the gun, making it fire in the air. As he goes to kick the shooter, his attack is dodged with ease. The shooter, still covered by a cloak used for camouflage, dodges every punch, kick and web that Spider-Man throws his way. Captain Stacy is evacuating the crowd, which is in a panic, when he looks up and sees the fight on the rooftop. He quickly realizes Spider-Man stopped the shooter, despite the crowds blaming Spider-Man for the attempt on the mayor’s life.
MJ is able to get to a rooftop where she can view the fight. She pulls out her camera so as to use its zoom function to see better.
Spidey finally hits the man with a web, but he simply removes the cloak to which the web stuck to. He reveals his appearance to Spider-Man: a muscly, dark-haired man, with facial hair, a brown tactical outfit, coated with lion fur and fangs. He had multiple blades, darts, guns and other small weapons attached to his clothes and a spear in hand. He does not say anything, he just dodges all of Peter’s attacks.
MJ sees this and takes a picture of him.
Peter is unable to strike him, but finds a window of opportunity, finally landing a punch. The man simply smiles and runs away.
Spider-Man chases him, but he is fast and agile. Peter is able to keep up with him. The man stops and goes inside a construction site. It’s dark inside and Spidey attempts to find him in the darkness using his Spidey-sense, which starts to go off the wall. He senses danger from every direction. This man had lured him into a corner filled with traps. All sorts of projectiles were thrown in his direction. He dodges most of them, but the sheer amount of them overwhelm him and his senses and he gets hit by a few, wounding him and ripping his costume. By the time they stop. Peter is disoriented and gets hit with a dart from behind, coming from the man himself. He picks Spider-Man up and the shot goes dark.
After the rally is evacuated, the Mayor orders the Police to find Spider-Man and his associate, putting it with the upmost priority. Captain Stacy obliges but believes Spider-Man’s innocence. He orders patrols as protocol dictates but asks one of the officers to get him Peter Parker’s address, deciding to investigate.
MJ returns to the Bugle, with the picture she took of the shooter. She attempts to find information about him, but is unable to get very far due to a lack of resources. She decides to go to Robbie Robertson, her superior in the Bugle and show him the photo, asking for his help and his discretion. He agrees, stating his dislike of the way Jameson handled the Spider-Man news and believing in an innocent-until-proven-guilty approach unlike Jameson. He contacts an old friend of his from the FBI, Jimmy Woo, who identifies the man as Sergei Kravinoff, also known as Kraven the Hunter.
Upon acquiring this information, MJ researches Kraven, discovering him to be a war-criminal turned big-game hunter, accused of leading many species to extinction and taking his obsession for hunting to the next level by supposedly hunting enhanced individuals. He is wanted by multiple countries, including Wakanda, after entering the country illegally and having stolen a rare herb belonging to the royal family.
MJ gathers all this information, finding a key detail that might help Peter, and goes to Peter’s hideout to present it to him, only to find him missing.
ACT III
Peter wakes up tied to a chair. He’s in a dark storage area. In front of him is the man who captured him. He’s cleaning his blade while looking at Peter. He presents himself as Kraven the Hunter. He explains to Peter who he is, saying it’s only fair considering he knows all about Peter.
He tells Peter his goal is to hunt, always has been, always will be. He tells Peter that, much like other men, he started by hunting animals. He quickly grew tired of it. He felt bored by simple weak prey. He had grown too strong of a hunter. He started hunting men, but that too got boring after a while. So, he set his sight on those above men. However, seeing how he consider himself a man of honor, passionate about reaching the peak of the human body, he felt no interest on hunting gods or men in iron suits, but was fascinated by the likes of Captain America, Black Panther and Spider-Man. Mere men who were gifted with peak human strength, stamina and agility. More than anyone, Spider-Man fitted his ideal prey. Someone as young as Peter, with his abilities, has the potential to become the ultimate perfect prey for his legendary Last Hunt.
Peter quickly realizes he’s dealing with a nutjob, and with one that has a messed up honor code. So, he decides to play along so as to free himself. He agrees to be his prey as long as he is freed and given a chance to run, to “make the hunt more exciting”. Kraven reveals that was always the plan, that being the reason he hadn’t killed Spidey before. He wants to mold Spider-Man, test him and perfect his abilities, so he can finally hunt him and be the best possible hunter. He will free Spider-Man, and he will go after him again, he just needs to make sure Peter is as motivated as he is. He gives Peter a phone with a live stream to a dark room where Ned is tied up, crying. Peter is in shock. Kraven tells him he has given him a dose of deadly poison. Peter starts freaking out, still tied up himself. He threatens to beat Kraven up, but Kraven tells him only he knows the antidote and to get it, Peter will have to follow his rules. Ned needs to be given the antidote in 7 hours. Kraven will free Peter, giving him 6 hours to prepare himself. Fix his suit, get any gadget he might deem necessary and come meet him in Central Park at the end of those 6 hours. He will then have 1 hour to defeat Kraven, get the antidote and Ned’s location. If he fails to meet him at the desired time or uses the 6 hours to try to find Ned, he will kill Ned himself.
Peter reluctantly agrees. He’s freed and runs off. He’s in a panic. He tries to think about what to do. He has no resources, no allies and the police is after him. This makes him remember something, a last resource.
He goes to his and May’s apartment. It’s covered up in police tape. Usually, there’s one or two cops there everyday, but today, luckily, that is not the case. He goes to his room and gets a box from a hidden drawer. He opens the box to find a costume, some web cartridges and a picture of him and Ned working on the costume. It’s similar to his Stark suit, but it’s just fabric, instead of having all those circuits (except for the mask). It also does not have those black lines in the arms and shoulders and has a bigger spider-logo on the front. He admires the costume, but hears some footsteps. He turns around to see MJ standing there, with tears on her eyes. They hug and he catches her up on what is happening to Ned, showing her the livestream, which horrifies her. She tells him she found some info on Kraven, telling him his real-name, his record, the source of his abilities, mut most importantly, the key to defeating him:
He has a device in his body stabilizing him. When he injected the herb he stole from Wakanda, his body was not ready for its effects. The reaction was so potent that his muscle activity got out of control, making his entire body shutdown. The device is what helps him manage it.
MJ suggest setting a trap to electrocute him just enough to cause the device to reboot. This will temporarily immobilize him and give Peter enough time to take him down.
Peter asks her to help him gather parts for the plan, but they’re interrupted by a man: Captain George Stacy. He enters the apartment with his gun pointed. He looks at Peter for a moment and puts his gun down saying: “Those are not the eyes of a killer”. He reveals his belief on Peter’s innocence and mentions how he’s going against his higher-ups by not arresting him. Peter thanks him and tells him that Kraven the Hunter was responsible for the shooting and that he has his friend hostage. Stacy agrees to help Peter ordering a secret search for Ned. He lets Peter and MJ go, but just before going, Peter asks Stacy why he was so sure about his innocence. Stacy tells Peter that he was on the ferry that was cut in half all those years ago and that he saw his courage and determination first hand. Peter smiles and they leave.
Hours later, Peter and Kraven finally meet. Peter is wearing his new Spider-Man suit and Kraven is fully equipped. It starts to snow just as the fight begins. We see Kraven finally attacking Peter in hand-to-hand combat. Kraven is a phenomenal fighter. He is able to predict every attack of Peter’s, dodge it and counterattack in the perfect way. He target’s Spider-Man biggest weaknesses and when he sees the window of opportunity, he beats Peter to a pulp. Peter fights back very well, but is rarely able to hit Kraven. After a long and impressive fight, Peter decides to execute the trap. When he gets Kraven to the ideal spot, he pulls out a few gadgets: web grenades that Kraven dodges by jumping backwards, landing on the trap. Peter activates it, giving Kraven an electrical shock. However, the shock does not fully work, so Peter has to improvise, being able to kick Kraven into a lake with one of the electrical gadgets still attached to him. The water amps up the shock, knocking out Kraven. Turns out that the shock to take him down needed to be bigger. Peter pulls him out of the water, webs him up and starts to punch him making him tell him where the antidote and Ned are. Kraven starts to laugh as he gives Peter the antidote and Ned’s location. Peter webs him up more and uses a burner phone to call the cops. He rushes to Ned’s location, all while looking at the livestream of Ned. He’s still alive.
When he gets there, he sees Captain Stacy and other officers. Stacy tells his men to stand down as Peter walks towards him. Stacy has a look on his face that worries Peter. He rushes to the inside of the building. Ned’s dead. We don’t see his death, or his corpse, but we see Peter’s reaction as he exits the building. He falls down, crying. He looks at the livestream, in it, Ned is still alive. He’s confused, disturbed. He looks again at the live stream once the 7 hours are up and sees “Ned” get up, walk towards the camera, and remove his mask, revealing a white plastic face. He introduces himself as Chameleon and shuts down the stream. Peter stares blankly at the screen. Stacy tells Peter that Ned has been dead for hours and that he was tricked.
Stacy says he understands the shock he must be in, but he’s gotta go before his men arrest him. He tells Peter to be strong.
Peter swings away. We cut to Peter, bloody, tired and crying, all while resting against a tombstone, reading “Ben Parker”. No words, just him, and the tombstone in the snow, with the weight of a third death on his shoulders (Ben, Tony and now Ned).
EPILOGUE
A few days have passed, as we pan over people walking in NY. We focus on Peter, with your usual disguise: a cap and sunglasses. He’s walking somewhere, and passes some screens that are showing news of Kraven being arrested and transported to the raft that day. He arrives at Ned’s funeral and watches from afar. We see many of Ned’s classmates and teachers attending, including MJ. As Peter watches at a distance, a man approaches. “Hello Peter” says Stephen Strange. Peter greets him in a very monotone voice. He’s beaten down, more than ever before. He tells Strange he looked for him multiple times in the past three months, to no avail. Strange tells him he was in another dimension all this time, and tells him he’s sorry he couldn’t help. Peter, with tears in his eyes, asks if he can help now, if he can turn back time, prevent his identity from being outed, Kraven from targeting Ned, all of this. Strange says that in yesteryears he would’ve been able to, but he has since lost that ability. He tells him, however, he can do something for him now.
He tells Peter he can erase all knowledge of his identity from the public, with only himself, Peter, and those Peter told willingly, retaining it. He says he can also erase all physical and digital records of Peter being Spider-Man, essentially giving him his secret back. Peter agrees, promising to be more careful this time around, so as to prevent something like this from ever happening. Strange smiles saying he believes in Peter, so much so that he already did it. Peter looks at him with a sense of wonder and asks if he’s certain. Strange reassures him and tells him to go to his friends and join the funeral. He does so and is greeted by everyone normally, proving no one’s the wiser. He looks back at Strange who’s vanished and smiles.
Peter and MJ head back as MJ asks Peter for a moment. She tells him that the important thing she needed to tell him was that she’s moving away, to Europe. Robbie Robertson got her a scholarship to a great journalism college in the UK and she accepted. Peter, although devastated by it, smiles and congratulates her, realizing she may be safer if she’s away from him. They decide to break up, but not before sharing one last kiss. MJ walks away as Peter looks up to the sky.
We transition to a final swing, where Peter has an inner monologue, reflecting on the end of this journey, high-school, and a new beginning. He mentions the biggest lessons he has learnt in these past years, especially one: “With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility”. The final swing slowly transitions to the picture of Peter and Ned building the suit, now hanging on Peter’s wall.

MID-CREDITS SCENE
Kraven is in a prison outfit, being transported in an armored truck. The truck is attacked and Kraven is sedated by one of the guards, as the screen turns black and we only hear screams and the truck being forced open. Kraven wakes up in a luxurious penthouse, with a man in front of him drinking whiskey. It’s Norman Osborn, who says: “You failed. You assured me you were not going to.”.
Kraven smiles and responds: “Once you free me from the shackles, and let me walk out, I’ll get him. It’s just getting interesting”.
Osborn replies: “No. I’ve seen too many failures to kill this miserable Spider. I have a better idea. You’re going to work as a team. Boys…”.
Four men walk into the room: Mac Gargan AKA Scorpion, Herman Schultz AKA Shocker, Adrian Toomes AKA Vulture and… Quentin Beck AKA Mysterio come in.
“You 5 have all fought Spider-Man before and failed. Together you won’t. I will personally finance all the upgrades you need. But just to be sure you follow my ideals, I want one of my men on your team, isn’t that right Doctor?”
The sixth member of the team walks in, Dr. Otto Octavius, who says: “Yes, Norman”.
Cut to black.

POST-CREDITS SCENE
A little boy is glued to the TV, watching the new, which festure security cam footage of Spider-Man fighting Scorpion and other footage of him fighting Kraven, with the headline being “Spider-Man: Hero or Menace?”.
We hear the boy’s mother calling:
“Miles, dinner’s ready”.
“Coming”, answers the boy.
Cut to black.

------

That's it! I had a lot of fun making this. I think it mixes a Peter Parker focused story, which is what a lot of people really want for the next one, with the continuation of the big clifhanger from the previous movie, and still using some ties to the broader MCU without exaggeration.
I think it also sets up a possible new trilogy set in college very nicely, having spaces for new supporting characters in an new phase of Peter's story in the MCU. Maybe I'll do Spider-Man 4 if this gets enough attention (already have a lot of ideas)
Thanks!!

Link To Part 1
Still filming, Bonnie staggered through the hallway. Her steps slow. Unlike Carty, her filmmaking skills were non-existent. The footage she was shooting would've been shaky-cam quality at best or nausea-inducing at worst. Bonnie's nervous excitement was getting the better of her.
The singing was now deafening, echoing through the farmhouse without the aid of a speaker.
Relying on the camera's light, Bonnie stopped in the middle of the hallway, searching the ominous landscape for any sign of the singer.
The singer's voice was harsher. Now not so much a song as it was a mumbled compulsion.
Bonnie listened closely. She could discern the words and could finally understand the lyrics.
Eyes without a face. Eyes without a face, got no human grace...
The singer repeated this same chorus in slow, agonizing fashion.
Bonnie remembered the song. A 1983 pop song. Eyes Without A Face. But it wasn't being sung with the clear, brooding tone of Billy Idol. It sounded like a harrowing soliloquy from someone in an asylum cell. Not an eloquent ballad courtesy of Idol. This was someone's serenade to alienation. And they wouldn't stop. Hell, maybe they couldn't stop.
Got no human grace. Your eyes without a face...
The singer wasn't even bothering to hold a tune at this point. Their bitter tone just had to keep repeating those words. Those safe words. Pop music for their sanity.
Eyes without a face...
Holding on tight to the camera, Bonnie waved it around the room. But she didn't see anything. All the while, the voice continued, seemingly taunting her.
Got no human grace. Your eyes without a face...
Bonnie turned and looked down the narrow hallway. The front door was now shut. No way the singer was outside. "What the Hell..." Bonnie said to herself.
Reaching out of the darkness, Carty's hand snatched Bonnie's arm.
For once, Bonnie jumped in fear. "Shit!" she exclaimed as she faced Carty.
"It's just me," Carty said in a hushed tone. The fact that Bonnie was this jumpy destroyed Carty's hope that the singing was "just the wind" or some other lame excuse.
"Damn, girl, you scared the shit outta me!"
Eyes without a face...
Hearing the singer's unnerving cover of Eyes Without A Face, Carty's frantic eyes searched the room. "Where is he?" she asked Bonnie.
Bonnie broke away from her. "Shit, I don't know!"
Carty saw the closed front door. Faint hope struck her. They had a straight shot to escape.
Your eyes without a face...
The mysterious voice was more violent and hectic on this time around. Idol's lyrics now spouted in a wild burst. A burst that came from the staircase.
Carty turned and saw Bonnie rush toward those stairs. "Bonnie, no!" Carty yelled.
Hellbent on securing the footage, Bonnie held her camera out in front of her as she made her way to the staircase. Too determined to notice how shitty her handheld filmmaking was.
"Let's get the fuck outta here!" Carty yelled after Bonnie.
Got no human grace. Your eyes without a face...
Terrified, Carty ran toward the stairs. Toward Bonnie. She couldn't let the love of her life confront the eerie voice alone. "Bonnie!" she yelled.
Your eyes without a face...
Bonnie laid one foot on the first wooden step. A grueling creak erupted.
Carty grabbed Bonnie's arm, stopping her from going further. "Bonnie, please!" Carty pleaded.
Annoyed, Bonnie pulled her arm back. "Carty, just chill!"
Got no human grace. Your eyes without a face...
Both women listened in horror. The voice was louder than ever. And the couple now realized it was coming from beneath them.
Carty grabbed Bonnie's arm, ready to lead them off to the front door at around 100 miles per hour. "Let's go-"
The small door under the staircase burst open with great force.
Carty let out a horrified scream.
A masked person emerged from the closet beneath the staircase. A tall, slender figure. Their outfit couldn't mask what was undoubtedly evil intentions. They wore black leather gloves. A gray hooded bathrobe perfect for an occult ceremony. They made their way toward the uneasy couple.
A black paper-mâché mask with painted red streaks covered the mysterious person's face. But it couldn't hide their glowering eyes. The mask was homemade and looked faded with age. A paper-mâché recreation of a melancholy face. A face that wasn't overtly feminine or masculine. An androgynous Angel of death.
The figure's gloves tightened their grip on the handle of a double bit axe. Both ends of the vicious weapon were clean and pristine. Sharp as Hell as well.
The masked person didn't say a word or sing the Idol lyrics as they marched toward the scared Carty and Bonnie.
A horrifying realization became clear to both women: they were this singer's target all along.
Trying to play tough, Bonnie pulled Carty up on the stairs with her. "What the fuck is this!" she yelled at the figure.
Bonnie aimed the camera right at the figure.
The singer stopped a few feet away from them. They stood tall and strong, basking in the camera's glorious light.
Carty stared at the singer, petrified in fear.
"Leave us alone, asshole!" Bonnie yelled.
The singer just looked at them with those unflinching eyes.
Carty couldn't tell if the masked intruder was either studying them or challenging the couple to make the first move. Even hidden behind a robe and mask, the figure seemed too confident, Carty thought. They weren't scared like us.
"Well, what the fuck you gonna do, huh!" Bonnie hurled at the singer. "You little bitch!"
Carty looked between Bonnie and the figure, hesitant on what to do. Maybe Bonnie was being too antagonistic, but Carty had seen Bonnie's tough-butch routine work plenty of times. If there was one thing Carty was confident in, it was that Bonnie could back up that mouth.
"Yeah, you're just a pussy!" Bonnie continued to the singer. Taunting the figure, she stepped off the stairs and walked toward them. "I got your bitchass on camera now!"
To Carty's surprise, both the figure and Bonnie were the same height. Close to the same build. Minus the axe, this’d be a fair fight.
"We already called the cops," Bonnie shouted at the figure. She put the camera up toward the androgynous mask. "We got your ass too! Fucking stalker bitch!"
The masked figure's gloved hands gripped the handle tighter. Their muscles flexed through the robe. The singer belied their uneven voice with real brute strength. Any more pressure in their grip, and the wooden handle would've probably snapped in two.
Uncomfortable, Carty watched the confrontation unfold. The figure's rage seemed to accelerate with each one of Bonnie's insults.
Bonnie gave the figure a harsh shove. "Get outta the way, bitch!" Bonnie yelled.
But the singer didn't budge at all. They stood tall. Their broad shoulders were only the beginning of a sculpted frame.
Carty reached into her pocket. She felt her phone. All she needed was the perfect time pull that baby out and dial the cops. Even if she was hesitant to do so considering her and Bonnie's modest criminal record.
Ready to fight back, Bonnie raised the flashlight up toward that fucking mask. "You stupid bitch-"
In a quick and sudden movement, the singer's gloved hand snatched Bonnie's wrist.
"Bonnie!" Carty said in horror.
Bonnie tried to break free but didn't have a chance. The figure's grip was harsh and stronger than Bonnie expected. During the struggle, Bonnie dropped the camera.
It hit the ground and slid over by the first step, the camera's red record light still on. The lens pointed right at the stairway, putting the spotlight now on the frightened Carty.
Bonnie turned and looked toward Carty. "Carty, run!" she yelled.
Leaving her phone in her pocket, Carty rushed toward them. Saving her lover was more important than calling a bunch of bumpkin-fuck police officers.
Using her free hand, Bonnie tried to swing on the figure, but the blows didn't bother them in the slightest. Instead, their stoic mask just looked straight at Bonnie. No anger on the androgynous face. Just nothingness.
"Bonnie!" Carty yelled. She tried to pull Bonnie away from the clutches of the singer.
"No, go!" Bonnie screamed. She pushed Carty toward the front door. "Get out!"
"I ain't leaving you!" Carty proclaimed. Channeling her inner Bonnie, Carty raised the wireless mic like a weapon.
Acting quick, the singer threw Bonnie back against the staircase.
Bonnie tripped on the first step and busted her ass on the uncomfortable stairs. All the steps caved in slightly beneath her weight.
The singer turned and honed their gaze on Carty.
"Run, Carty!" Bonnie pleaded.
Advancing upon Carty, the figure raised the axe with the flourish of a knight unsheathing a long sword.
Overcome in fear, Carty held on to the mic and backed against a wall. The eerie mask quashed her newfound "bravery."
"Carty!" Bonnie yelled. Cringing in pain, she leaned up on the staircase. "Carty, run!"
The singer held their weapon out and traced both blades against Carty's fragile face.
"No!" Bonnie cried out. She staggered back to her feet.
Disturbed, Carty swung the mic toward the mask in a pathetic attempt at protecting herself. "Get back!" she said in a loud whimper.
With unnerving agility, the figure dodged the mic. They hoisted the axe back for the fatal blow.
"Oh God..." Carty said, helpless. She pressed her head against the wall, wishing she could dissolve into it before suffering at the hands of the double bit axe.
Bonnie rushed toward them. "Carty!" she cried.
The singer brought the axe down in a forceful swing.
Carty shut her eyes, bracing for the vicious hit.
A messy THWACK erupted in the farmhouse.
Thick drops sprayed across the floor.
Realizing she was still alive, Carty opened her eyes in confusion. Then she screamed in a bellow of distraught horror.
The axe protruded out the top of Bonnie's skull. Bonnie had gotten in front of the weapon just in time. Just in time to save Carty.
Bonnie stood still… The sheer force of the hit froze her in place. Blood flowed all down her face and body. Bonnie a fountain of flowing red water.
Weeping, Carty looked down at her hands. Another helpless scream escaped her lips. Gallons of Bonnie's blood had splattered across Carty's smooth skin.
The crimson spots resembled an incurable disease. Then again, it was. Bonnie was dead. And Carty was next.
The helplessness only further set in for Carty once the masked killer yanked the axe back out without so much as a grunt.
The effortless pull sent more of Bonnie's blood spraying across Carty's mortified face.
Bonnie's corpse tumbled to the ground. The vivid wound had split the top of her head open. Her blood and gray matter spewed out in a spilled bowl of fleshy fruit. Bonnie's face forever frozen in fear, her dead eyes looking straight at Carty.
Horrified, Carty stared at her deceased girlfriend. This wasn't the Bonnie she wanted to remember. This wasn't the sexy, confident Bonnie she'd fallen in love with. This was a slaughtered corpse.
A flurry of quick whacks from the figure's axe ravaged those final moments between Carty and Bonnie. Unstoppable, the singer swung the axe straight down onto Bonnie's face, smashing it into a hundred red pieces.
Tears falling down her face, Carty screamed. "Bonnie! No!"
The masked intruder heaved the axe back. The axe's cleanliness was now marred by thick, wet blood. Both sides of the weapon for that matter.
Quicker than a lion on the prowl, the killer turned and faced Carty. Blood and grue was all over their mask. At least now, the androgynous mask had some literal color.
But their cold eyes chilled Carty to the bone. And the killer didn't seem exhausted in the slightest. They were just getting started.
Carty knew there was nothing else she could do. She hauled ass for the front door.
The singer lunged right in front of her, blocking Carty's path.
Panicking, Carty took a few nervous steps back. "No!" she yelled at the singer. "Fuck you!"
The killer matched her every step, even matching Carty's speed. The gap never closed between them, but to Carty, the mask and axe only seemed to get closer.
"Fuck you!" Carty screamed. She swung the wireless mic at the androgynous mask.
Taunting Carty, the killer dodged her swing with lackadaisical ease.
"You crazy bitch!" Carty screamed at the singer.
In an eruption of madness, the murderer raised the axe and went charging after Carty.
"No!" Carty shouted. Lowering the mic, she turned and ran toward the staircase.
Her feet splashed through her lover's blood. Hearing the singer's heavy footsteps, Carty turned and saw them gaining ground. Goddamn, he was fast!
Carty reached the stairs. With the joy of a runner completing a marathon, she put her foot on that first step in triumph. A shrill creak greeted her ears.
Right behind Carty, the killer lunged forward and swung the axe with all their might.
A nasty slice to the Achilles tendon dashed both Carty's hope at escape. She screamed in a most horrific agony as she fell onto the flight of stairs.
Slipping from Carty's grasp, the mic went flying through the air and smashed into the wall in front of her.
Helpless, Carty looked at her wound. The cut on the Achilles was rough and brutal. The mark of the axe's blade wasn't clean in the slightest.
Blood shot out of Carty's Achilles in thick spurts. A grisly sprinkler. Carty couldn't bear to look at the wound... and looking back at the hallway only meant having to see Bonnie's mutilated body once more.
Carty grabbed the cut in a pitiful attempt to stop the bleeding. Instead, all she got was a firsthand feel of a dam bursting with her own blood.
She looked over and saw the murderer step right toward her. Their axe only looked to be clamoring for more of Carty. The other side of the double bit weapon felt left out of the Achilles slash…
Overwhelmed in fear, Carty turned and tried to stand up, but the attempt only stretched her heel's hack to even greater depths. The window of the wound spread even wider, exposing bloodied muscle within her skin.
"Ah, fuck!" Carty unleashed in an awful scream.
She watched the killer stand up over her. "No!" Carty yelled. She attempted to crawl away, the damaged Achilles making Carty resemble an animal struggling to escape with a trap enclosed around its leg. Straining, she laid an elbow on the next step.
The wooden step collapsed under Carty's weight. She yelled as her arm disappeared through the busted wood. "Fuck!" Carty cried out, weary helplessness in her tone.
Sitting further away, Bonnie's camcorder filmed Carty's agony in all its visceral glory.
Taunting Carty, the killer put the axe to Carty's face.
An exhausted Carty looked on at the blood-stained mask. Its indiscernible features never failed to terrify her. The mask was somewhere between the world's creepiest mannequin and the face of a stoic high school psychopath.
"Why?" Carty asked the singer in defeat. She struggled to fight back her tears. "Why are you doing this?"
At a deliberate pace, the killer lowered the axe and leaned in closer toward Carty.
With uncomfortable fear, Carty watched them get closer. "No..." she muttered.
The singer's gloved hand reached out and stroked Carty's golden hair.
To Carty's surprise, their touch wasn't rough but gentle. Even as the glove tinged Carty's hair with a redness that mirrored the red stains scattered across the singer's mask.
Determined, Carty reached out and pulled off the androgynous mask.
Carty's expression was hit by an unsettling wave of confusion. Somehow, the situation had gotten weirder. And scarier.
Underneath the mask was a human face. The face of a middle-aged black woman. A stern, masculine face with wide eyes and hollow cheekbones. Streaks of red dye in her short hair. Her rough features couldn't hide her natural beauty. Even given her athletic frame, she could've been an unorthodox model if she ever gave a damn about dolling herself up.
The killer looked just as surprised as Carty. Maybe other victims had wanted to see what she looked like before... but no one had ever lived long enough to actually unmask the singer.
"No," Carty said in a terrified whimper. Clutching the mask, she tried to pull her arm out of the busted step. But she was trapped. Trapped with a mysterious female killer.
The murderer leaned back and raised her axe. Her eyes stared down upon Carty. Eyes more expressionless than the mask.
All Carty could do was stare back at the killer. "Please," Carty said, frightened. "Don't do-"
With primal strength, the killer sunk the blade straight into the side of Carty's neck, slicing into her precious jugular. The force of the hit made Carty's head tilt to the side.
Upon impact, the back of Carty's head collapsed onto a step, busting through the ancient wood. Much like her entrapped arm, Carty's head dangled through the shattered opening.
Grisly threads of her flesh were exposed. Blood scurried all down her body. All the way down her arms and all the way down to the mask she still held in her dead grip.
The axe still stuck straight out of Carty's neck. The other side of the weapon had finally gotten its taste of Carty.
Recovering from the kills, the murderer leaned against the stairway's railing. She stole a brief admiring glance down at Carty's corpse. Carty was still pretty after all... even after death.
As she took off her gloves with routine indifference, the killer's soft voice drifted through the room. It was the pretty voice she had earlier. Before her singing went off the rails and morphed into a demented compulsion. "Eyes without a face, got no human grace," the murderer sang with the reserved shyness of an awkward teenager at a talent show.
Finishing the chorus, she wiped sweat off her brow. Her eyes gazed over at the camcorder's beaming light.
Intrigued, the killer approached the camera, stepping through the overflowing blood. She scooped up the camcorder in excitement and tinkered with it. Even a sly smile crossed her lips.
The murderer looked over at both dead bodies. The sexy lesbian couple. The killer almost regretted killing off the two hotties. Almost. Deep down, she knew she had to. She wanted those sweet kills.
Turning her attention back to the camera, the singer played back all the footage from earlier.
Her eyes were particularly drawn to one specific scene: Carty and Bonnie's steamy farmhouse sex. The killer traced her finger along the camera's screen, right over the couple's nubile bodies. Excitement shattered through the singer's shield of coldness.
